If you read my previous reviews, you'll see I am very accepting of Motel 6's. It's a cheap ass motel; you should not expect luxury. However, some locations are better maintained than others With this Rochester one, PROs are: it's close to the airport (almost walking distance) and there's a Liquor Town located next door (check hours, it closes early). A friendly young woman checks you in (it appears to be a family-owned motel). Very clean sheets and towels. CONs are: everything was broken in my room, including the TV, front door jam, and leaky faucets. Reported it to the guy at the front desk (who could have cared less). Pro tip: if you're headed in to downtown Rochester, skip the expensive Uber ($15) and pick up the 18 bus instead on the corner of Chili and Buell ($1). Very simple to do. read more

I've stayed at a number of Motel 6 locations (they are convenient when moving with pets) and this one really was not well maintained. The bathroom had water that was constantly running in the tub, leaving a mess. I didn't get the room type I had reserved (a king bed) and was instead given a room with two full beds. It was just one night before heading to the airport so it wasn't a huge deal. The staff was friendly and helpful. Particularly the overnight person who drove us to the airport. read more

I booked 2 months in advance to see the eclipse. I confirmed again 1 week before the date.When I checked in i was told that they would not honor the reserved rate and wanted 115.00 more.I showed them the reservation and they had the rate in their system yet would not honor it. I had drivin overnight from NYC and had no choice but to pay 200.00 for a room that was not worth 50.00. Filthy room, filthy hotel,heater with no thermostat,toilet that leaked on to the bathroom floor, TV was green colored, non secured outside doors ( just push and they open). DO NOT TRUST this motel to honor any promised rate! ( I was so mad that I call the local news station and did an on-camera interview in the parking lot before the eclipse) The owner pulled up and was obviously unhappy to see the news van and camera. This was absolutely the worst night of my life. Room smelled so bad of cigarettes that I had to cover myself with sheets to breath. Hallways littered with garbage. Night manager was stoned when he picked us up. In morning he and 2 other employees were smoking weed in front of hotel. When I asked to go to airport they looked at each other to see who was not too stoned to drive. Room in horrible condition. Ripped shades. Non working clock. Dirty walls. Lifted drink cup to find a bandaid. Could not wait to get out of here. Doesn't Motel 6 audit these places? read more

Got to our room, no toilet paper, the tv didn't work right, the phone was broken, the wall was crumbling under the A/C, there was a razor on the lamp, the bathtub was rusted and filthy. We left and went to another hotel 4 miles away, best choice of our lives. Please don't stay here. read more

When we walked in the whole place reeked of cigarettes. When we got to our room (which is non smoking) it smells like cigarettes but not as strongly as the hallway. I tried to fire up the tv and it didn't work. I called and they said I'd have to switch rooms because there was no service tech. The room we were moved to was a smoking room. Once the security guard showed me how to open the broken door we were hit by an incredible stench of cat piss. The linoleum floor was grossly sticky, the AC was noisy, and there was no remote for the tv. We went back to the original room and I opened a drawer to find two cockroaches. I killed them and then tried the Wi-Fi. Doesn't work. I asked about that and was told there's nothing they could do. The next day the tv was fixed and they gave me 20% off. We'll never come back here. If we're ever in Rochester I'll splurge on the Courtyard. read more

I came here with my son (25) for an overnight stay as his apartment doesn't allow for guests and Wolfie had a friend from the chat rooms staying over and my son was upset about this. I asked for a room with two beds but this was not an option. A cot was also not possible, so my son slept on the floor on towels. Due to a brief disagreement over the current ownership of the rights to ALF the room was littered with almonds. The TV didn't have Foody (Food Network) I was delighted to find a place to charge my Samsung Galaxy S3 next to the bed. read more

Ghetto & weird. This is not really a "motel" for "travelers." I don't know if the owner or Motel 6 corporation (IDK if these places are franchises or all corporate-owned) intends it to be this way, but this particular location is really functioning as a long-term residential hotel...i.e. people are paying to stay here by the week or month because they are unable to be in a traditional housing situation (i.e. monthly lease/mortgage situation). I can sympathize with people who find themselves turning to the Motel 6 for living quarters but as someone who stayed while on a road trip, I must heavily caution other travelers from staying here. This place is not really for the road traveler. The hubby and I drove cross country with our dog and often turned to Motel 6 for our lodging due to their universal pet-friendly policy (ALL Motel 6's take dogs...no extra fees, all room types, no size limitation and you don't need to reserve in advance). For the most part our experience in the several Motel 6's we stayed at were fine (not awesome but okay for sleeping for a few hours before hitting the road for 10 hours). This location was definitely the worst. Part of why we stuck to the Motel 6 chain was so that we would not have to do research about whether they take dogs or not. Unfortunately, I wished we had researched this location. The reviews for this place on TripAdvisor are terrible. Anyways, this place is loud, smelly, not clean and not very safe (our room door did not lock and I ended up moving a chair in front of the door AND cops were needed by other "guests" at least 2-3 times during the ONE night we were there). Pros: Front desk person was polite (albeit a bit confused that someone was actually trying to stay there for 1 night only), no roaches, parking lot was fairly empty (I don't think many "guests" have cars...we were able to grab princess parking right in front of the entry). Cons: Not clean. Loud. Door may not lock. Seemed to be in an industrial area. Few places to eat nearby. This is definitely NOT a place to stay if you are actually looking for a clean, quiet place to get some ZZZ's while traveling. read more

So this review is exclusively for their AIRPORT PARKING. I have never stayed at this motel nor would I ever anyway. But I use this place to park my car & get shuttle service to & from the airport. I'm from NYC & I find it more convenient to just drive than Uber here as Rochester is very very small city-& their Uber services are not as reliable as they are so new- maybe just 3yrs old. So with some of the late flight returns or departures it's better to drive, park & shuttle to the airport. So I parked here for a trip overseas in the last week & on my return I found my car was RANSACKED! Thankfully I don't keep any valuables in the car but everything was turned inside out, things from my console & dashboard, all tossed to the car floor mats with some of my small change money (that I don't care for) taken from my console area. When I called the front desk to notify them- the lady I spoke to was so nonchalant about the whole situation- it was almost like she knew what was going on. So I called the next day & informed the person working of this concern. I asked for a manager & was informed there was no manager at the time & that there are NO CAMERAS in the building/rear. I landed late when I came to pick up my car. The rear of this motel is PITCH BLACK DARKNESS at night & the front is no better either!! It is very concerning. & Since I saw other cars parked along the rear (it's the area designated for those parking for shuttle service to the airport), I think this is an issue that management needs to address. I don't & didn't want anything from this motel but reported this to ensure the issue is addressed; being that people PAY FOR PARKING here & I get that we do it at our own risk & the motel bears no liability, it is not so much to ask to keep the rear & the front of the motel WELL-LIT & also HAVE CAMERAS. Cameras & lighting are so cheap now even if you wanted a Walmart brand- for a small fraction of what I paid for parking you can get some lights at Walmart, even at a dollar store & the other half a decent working camera from Walmart installed. Be courteous to people who pay & park here & offer some social responsibility of being at least concerned. Because of this ransacking incident, this is no longer just a THEFT ISSUE/CONCERN but also a SAFETY ISSUE!! What is management going to do about this??!! read more

Would not recommend staying here. Cons (-): The room smelled disgustingly stale (partially smokey), the floors weren't clean, and there was no free WiFi. The common spaces of the hotel were in abhorrent condition. Honestly, the smell was awful, as it has stayed in my clothing and bags for days after I've stayed there. Every year since 2007 my wife an I go and see family in Kalispell MT. We stay at Motel 6 for the price and the friendly service from the attendees. This year however was the worst experience and customer satisfaction we've ever encountered here in Kalispell Motel 6. We were visiting family in mid September for a wedding between my youngest nephew and his beautiful bride to be. When we arrived at Motel 6 my wife and I's room was ready, we got in right away. When my father and auntie arrived they had to wait hours because they forgot to clean the room or something ridiculous like that at 3pm. Mind you this is mid September and the days are cool and the nights are cold dropping down to around 37 degrees, it was raining most of the time we were there. At night the management refused to turn on the heat in the rooms because it would inconvenience other tenants during the day is the answer we got from the front desk (how unintelligent). This young woman was slumped over the front counter and talking to the floor when she was addressing my issue because we were cold. We aren't used to that type of weather. I told her that you can turn on the HEAT in the rooms at night and turn the AC on in the day. In her response She, said "she wasn't going to do that" and gave us a blanket instead. We ended up taking the blanket and borrowing a space heater from our Niece that helped us through the night. It's appalling enough to be denied heat when its capable of providing it and having a teenager tell you "No, we aren't' going to turn on the heat because of the other tenants will complain". The funny thing is we were the only people staying there from M-Th and it picked up on the weekend a little bit but, other than that there was nobody there. We had 2 rooms booked 4 people in our party aging from early 40's to 78 years old. Everyone in that mid september timeline got the run around by that disgruntled teenage brat that was running the front desk. I can't remember her name but she does have long super curly brown to dyed black hair, She won't look at you in the eye or give proper respect when the customer requests something. She is not the Hostess that looks into your eyes, happy to see you, shoulders back as if she is proud that she even has a job type of person. She is mean, spiteful, disrespectful and rude. Needless to say we will not be staying here anymore. You get what you pay for attitude included. read more

Well, the front desk agent seemed to be off a little. The place looked deserted. The room was horrible. It looked like they just threw stuff in there. The bedding was disgusting. No iron in the room. The room had an odor. The bed felt like...no words to even explain. The bathroom was just tacky. I was having a hard time getting in the door I had stuff in my hand and the employee just stood there. One the fence because I've stayed here 4 times and the first experience was decent until the last night where the people next door started fighting and I thought they were going to come thru the door. My second experience was horrible the room smelled like dog, the floors were filthy, and the room looked like it had not been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. irst I want to say the staff was great no complaints...My room 104 10-15 to 10-18 was full of roaches..every time I turned a light on I saw one...I was able to kill 3 of them.... I thought with the first one I should bring the klennex with the dead one to the front desk......I didnt cause I thought they would tell me to move the room...however..you were full....so that was out....If they are in 1 room they are in another... I checked all my belongings before I left.. This is my second night in this hotel. The first night went fine. The room was clean and the front desk was polite. But night number two is the total opposite. I was approached in the parking lot by some undesirables asking if I had any extra cash. There's been people yelling in the hallways and now the fire alarms are going off. Last night three stars, tonight one, so half way is two. I guess it's hit or miss. read more

This was one of the worst motel stays of my life. Sketchy doesn't begin to describe it. Guy checking me in couldn't be bothered to get off the phone...personal call on his cell phone...while checking me in. The doors that you'd normally have to scan a key to get into from the outside all have broken latches. No wait, not just broken but full on destroyed latches. Ripped off latches. And then for the kicker, the room was disgusting. The sheets hadn't been washed. How can you tell? Well the amount of hair on these sheets sort of told the story. Worst Motel I have EVER seen! As soon as my boyfriend and I walked into our room, we turned around and headed to the front desk. There is no carpet in ANY of their rooms. There is this "wood-look" vinyl-type flooring. The walls are painted, but bare. There was a cheap table on one end of the room with a SINGLE chair in a room for two people. Because of the starkness of the room, there was also an echo. Never even looked in the bathroom as I was so turned off by the stench in the room itself. When we found out that ALL their rooms were like this, we demanded a refund and cut short our weekend away and drove home. The room itself was not the only thing that turned us off to EVER staying at a Motel 6 again. The girl at the front desk was a bit snippy with me at check-in and seemed utterly confused when I asked why we were being charged a higher rate than those clearly posted on the wall behind her. She tried to tell me it was because it was a special event in Rocherster (the Lilac Festival), but the rate said "Sat, Sun, Holidays and Special Events". I just check their website for next weekend (no festival) and the rate is STILL higher than the posted rate! MAJOR disappointment to what was supposed to be a nice and romantic weekend. This motel is very convenient to the Rochester airport. Also, there is a trail along the Erie Canal nearby that makes for a nice walk or run. I thought the room was OK. It had hard floors instead of carpet, so that felt more clean to me. But, it is very loud. I stayed a Friday night, and hardly slept after being woken at 1:30 am by loud talking in the hallway. It pretty much ruined my next day. Also could not believe this place charges for Wi-fi. It really did not seem that great a deal to me. For a better value, it might make sense to look further outside of Rochester. read more

This hotel is super sketchy, in regards to the area, the people, and the security officer present at night. Awful room quality and the bathroom door looked like it had been kicked in. The bedding is not nice, the television has about three channels, and no breakfast. The only thing that worked was the AC. This is the worst motel I have been too...its smell like smoke as you enter the door to the entrance of the motel, the room is nasty, bathroom not cleaned, broken toilet seat, pee on the ground and on top of it the clerk or whatever u call her is horrible Chasity, no customer service training she is horrible...I did ask for my money back but now I'm having problem getting my money back...I tried calling the manager his name is John, I can't get in contact with him at all...I just called at 4pm and he is not there he left for the day to receive my refund...I need my money back cause i would not even allow my dog to stay there. The front desk clerk with the puffy hair is fabulous she's very kind & beautiful (I think her name was shakira ? ) I'm not sure but she made me feel very welcomed to stay . She helped with my things gave me menus & even made me coffee at 4am . She's awesome I'd only come back just for her because my room was terrible . read more

the staff is the rudest i've ever experienced. the house keepers are loud and obnoxious, slamming doors and yelling outside the rooms early in the morning not letting us sleep our whole stay. they would knock at least 4 different times even after they were told they weren't needed. no one cleaned our room or changed our sheets the whole time we were there, we had to do it ourselves. i also got called a bitch on the phone by the front desk worker. also pretty sure the bed had bed bugs because everytime i slept in it, i could not stop itching and had bites and hives all over my back the next day. place may be cheap but i do not recommend. read more

I was arriving late in Rochester and leaving my hotel to fly back to Boulder at 3:30 am. I just needed a quick, close stop to sleep for a few hours before I traveled again. I was traveling alone at that point. I booked the room based on Kayak reviews and also it not having a presence on the bed bug registry (I'm a little unhinged when it comes to possible infestations of any kind). I'd never been to Rochester and wanted something super close and convenient to the airport, clean, no frills, etc. because I really needed just the bed. I arrived and checked in just fine/paid for my room. I found my way to it through a series of long empty halls on the second floor. The room was fine, pretty much what I expected...clean and basic. I unpacked the few things I would need for early morning and sat down on the bed and turned on the weather channel. About five minutes later, the room phone rang. I picked it up and the voice on the other end said, "This is the front desk. Do you need your room serviced?" I said I didn't and he asked if I was sure. I said I was and hung up. The room was a little dusty and I thought maybe it had been unoccupied for a stretch since I didn't see another soul on the whole second floor. I didn't give the phone call a second thought until a few minutes later when the room phone rang again. I picked it up and the same voice said, "This is the front desk and we need you to come down here." I asked why and he said, "You just need to come down here right now." My mind raced from maybe there was a fire or a death at home or my rental car got hit. The head covered a lot of possibilities quickly. Not understanding and starting to freak out a little bit, I asked what this pertained to and he said, "Ma'am, you need to get down here now." I was confused and stumbling and said something about being in the middle of something, so could I come down in 15 minutes. He said, "No. You need to come now. You didn't pay for your room and if you don't come down here now, the police are going to take you." I was shaking at this point and asked, "Take me where?" He said, "Into custody." I said, "What for?" and again he said, "You didn't pay for your room." I was very upset and nervous about what was going on and insisted I did pay when I checked in and that he was standing right there when I slid my card and had it approved. I also told him that I have text alerts for all transactions from my bank and that I got one immediately when I swiped my card, plus I had my receipt sitting right in front of me. He said, "You didn't pay and if you don't come down here right now, the police are coming up to get you." I said to please send them because I didn't understand what is going on and hung up. I immediately used my cell to call 911 and told the dispatcher what went down. He told me to lock the deadbolt and stay in my room. He said no police were in the lobby and that someone was either trying to lure me into the hall to do me harm or trying to get me out of my room and downstairs in order to get into my room and rob me. I was absolutely terrified all alone in that room waiting for the police to arrive. They came and flashed their badges through the peephole. I let them in and told them what happened. They reiterated what the dispatcher told me and told me they would escort me to the front desk to get a refund and leave. We got downstairs and after hearing my story, the front desk guy said he never called my room, refunded my money, and apologized somewhat. The police led me to a Holiday Inn filled with families where I got a room a few yards from the front desk. I felt safe in the room, but with all of the adrenaline raging, still not safe in my person, so no sleep was had. read more
