I'm pretty sure I'm the first to review since the new owners took over what is now the Hotel on Monroe (preciously Towpath). We stayed for a couple nights over Christmas while visiting family in town and it was a perfectly pleasant stay. The owners are a kind young couple who made us feel very welcome. Rooms are nicely updated. I especially liked the bathroom, which had high quality toiletries. We absolutely plan to stay here again in the future.

Not quite sure what all the bad reviews are for. Needed somewhere to stay for a couple nights while we got the floors worked on for our house, and I didn't want to break the bank. Found this place for only $45/night. It looked okay online. Looked much better than staying at that drug and prostitute place near the airport for the same cost. Showed up, and it was a standard motel. Not unlike places I've stayed at in cities like NYC, San Diego, Miami, NOLA, etc - which are usually $200 more a night for the same size and amenities. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Shower worked. Had towels and a fridge and a Keurig. TV and heat worked. Desk dude was friendly. For $45/night, this place did its job. It was also in a good location near other stuff. Yes, the place is minimal frills. You get what you pay for. Not sure what all these other reviewers were expecting for the price. If I ever need another local place to stay in a pinch, I'd def be back.

When we showed up in Rochester without a place to stay, And all the name-brand places tried to make us pay, We told them they could sitck their high-priced lodging up their ath, And had a happy, inexpensive night at the Towpath. Family-owned, friendly, clean, decent place at the right price. I fondly remember going out on the balcony in the morning to watch it snow, coming back to shower before dinner and watching it snow, and sitting out on the balcony with a beer in the evening, watching it snow.

It's clean. But smelly, over-priced and not worth the $80 rate - maybe for $40... Won't be back.

After making our reservation, we had tried to extend it when our plans changed, and the hotel was booked, so we had to stay over at a different hotel on the first night, which had us requesting a really early check in (~noon) and were pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate it. We were assigned a 2 room suite with a little kitchenette and 2 balconies. It was much too cold to sit outside, but we were pretty excited about the balconies, and hope to return to enjoy that. The room was very spacious, both the bedroom and the living room. Water temperature was good, water pressure in the shower was great. We had plenty of linens. The staff were really friendly. There is a rooftop cocktail bar with outdoor areas that it was too cold to use, but looked cute. We did eat at the restaurant and visit the cocktail bar, and enjoyed both. Note that as of Q1 2026, there is construction on the property as they renovate some of the floors. So there is a bit of dust on the elevators and some construction noise at times. This also lowers the capacity of the hotel as only about half is complete.

The innkeepeers are super friendly, and the breakfast is prepared fresh. The fruit plate isn't the best, but it's out-of-season fruits, so you do what you can. The hot dishes were very tasty--crepes one day, oven pancakes the next--but not _so_ exceptional that I'd go out of my way just for the breakfast.

Location: It's in a beautiful neighborhood, on a picturesque block, within walking distance to Park Avenue, which has several great restaurants and shops. Comfort: The beds are insanely comfortable (reminds me of the W Hotel beds) and the rooms are very spacious with everything you might need (Netflix, mini-fridge; closet; complimentary lux bath gel, shampoo, conditioner; iron; hairdryer, etc.). The entire place is charmingly historic but also thoroughly updated / remodeled, so everything is in perfect working order and clean/stylish. Service: Gary, the innkeeper/manager, is amazing. He treated us so well and makes the most delicious homemade muffins and eggs for breakfast! He's friendly, caring, and a great resource throughout the stay, who is accessible but not intrusive. Getting around: Like I said, great location and also very easy for Uber/Lyft to find. We were going to rent a car but honestly didn't really need one. If you do, though, there's parking on site in the back and also plenty of parking on the street. Overall, just a terrific place!!!

I had originally considered the Hampton, and 15 days before my arrival in Rochester, I discovered The Inn. It had a comparable price but maybe not as much breakfast choices. Two days later, when I went to make my reservation at the Hampton, I discovered that they raised their room rates 15% since the last time I checked... supply and demand on their part I guess. Well, that made The Inn rate more than competitive, and the obvious choice for my stay. The Inn does offer a light continental breakfast, but they offer some things I wouldn't have gotten elsewhere. One was the charm of an older building with nice renovations. My room had more "character" than I would have had otherwise, and that included a large antique bathtub and a gas fireplace. Every person with whom I interacted was incredibly friendly and helpful. Vanni's Lounge downstairs was fun as well (separate review). And I got a slight discount for having a 3rd night in my reservation on a weeknight. I think that was a fair trade-off for missing out on a few Honors points.

However, the stormy weather had my flight delayed, delayed, delayed. Seeing that I'd be pulling into Rochester later and later, I decided to see about driving. This got me to Rochester earlier in the evening but I was pooped. The Inn on Broadway offered a warm welcome after a hectic day of travel. They have easy parking very close to the entrance (felt very safe). They offer valet if you're heading there for the restaurants but they don't valet for guests of the inn. Again, not a big deal because the parking is so convenient. The lobby is gorgeous. I was there during the holidays and it was tastefully decorated and brought the festive vibes. The woman at the front desk was excessively kind and got me all checked in. I was tired and really just wanted to order deliver (doordash etc) to my hotel room. I wasn't certain if this was ok with the restaurant in house but fortunately, she assured me it was fine and even hand delivered my door dash order to my room (in addition to giving me recommendations for a garbage plate, a Rochester specialty--I still haven't had one but my next visit I'm determined!) My room was completely comfortable. It was the perfect size to feel cozy without being too small. There was a window seat by the window which offered a nice view of the city. I love that they have Aveda shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower (as well as lotion and hand soap by the sink). Aveda is top notch and it's nice not to sacrifice quality hair care while traveling. I honestly have nothing but the best things to say about my stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Get to it!

I feel like they don't advertise this but if you have trouble with stairs, it can be a bit annoying to have to go to another building and bring up your luggage via stairs. The main building is where breakfast is. The breakfast is free and include an egg protein, a sausage proton and potatoes. They swapped the thermostat housing twice but that didn't change anything. They provided a parking pass which I assumed paid for the parking garage since this reservation was so expensive, but it only linked it to your room and made it cost more! It normally would cost $10 to park for the day but using their parking pass made it $14 a day and then they even added another $10 for most days so I was paying $24 a day to park! Also, they charged me 56 for some meal despite me never eating there. Maybe someone gave them my room number or they typed someone's room number incorrectly. It felt like pulling teeth calling them to remove the meal charge and the double parking. Either the manager wasnt there to remove it and was supposed to call me back multiple times but didn't, or I got ahold of them and had to argue about these charges. Exhausting. Edit: I'll even attach the receipt and spell it out: - $313 for parking (some double charges) and food(that I didn't order) - $56 refund for the food I didn't order - $56 charge for the food I didn't order - $56 refund for the food I didn't order - $57 refund for the double parking charges - $57 charge for god knows what

As we started our six hour drive from NYC to Rochester my husband logged into the app just to confirm the address and we realized the reservation was canceled! While driving we made calls to customer service who were absolutely no help. They couldn't tell us exactly why the reservation was cancelled "maybe they are doing renovations, maybe there's a new owner". The only solution they offered was for us to drive to the hotel and ask them why they canceled on us. To make matters worse, both calls ended with them hanging up on us because they claimed it was a bad connection. Once we arrived Rochester we saw that the hotel was indeed closed and undergoing renovations and under new management. Luckily we were able to make reservations at the Country Inn down the street. And our bank reversed the charges. However, I can't get over the fraud that was committed in taking our money for accommodations they knew they couldn't provide.
