I've stayed here several times when I was driving back from a road trip and was too tired to make it back all the way to Charleston. It's very clean, pet friendly and I felt very safe. I've never once seen a bug there. The rooms have been updated, however the building is old so the floors do squeak so if that's going to bother you I'd suggest staying on the second floor instead of the first floor. They don't have a continental breakfast, but they have juice and coffee available in the morning. The Waffle House down the street is excellent and much better than the Cracker Barrel across the street. read more

This is a property that is old, decrepit, & unappealing. Baseboards coming away from walls, moldy bathroom, noisy a/c, bed linen was a sheet & a sheet-like coverlet. Cheap, scratchy, tiny towels. Fridge worked, but no idea of tv or microwave functionality. Stay away. read more

I woke up in the night and 3 roaches were crawling on the walls. The bed is so UNCOMFORTABLE that I didn't sleep much. When the person on the 2nd floor was walking it vibrated in our room. It's old and needs major renovations. Seeing a swimming pool filled with concrete was a major turnoff. read more

I just left this review on google- going to do other sites also We were evacuees from hurricane Milton. I tried calling multiple times to confirm our booking for us 4 (2adults, 2children) and our 2 pets. No answer. I then sent a message requesting a1st floor 2bed because I am blind and hearing impaired. When we arrived- they put us in 2nd floor and in a 1 bd. When I told them it was the wrong room- they told me I could take it or leave. I ended up sleeping on the floor with the dog. They were continuously rude to us and also tried to kick us out early because they claimed I only paid for 2 nights. They requested my husband come to office mid afternoon to show proof even though I was the one who booked the room. (the husband of clerk did not like talking to women) then on our final day- they turned out card off before 6am with a checkout of 11am and refused to turn it back on- so we had to leave the door open to load our vehicle. I have never in my life been treated so horribly at a hotel. Today is the 22nd and I have been dealing with motel 6 Cs to try to get a refund for the 1st night and the male manager has called me a liar refused to speak with me and will not refund. It has been repeated calls and run around for almost 2 weeks while also dealing with issues back home from the hurricane. Absolutely disgraceful! read more

I have never stayed in a Motel 6, so was slightly concerned about booking here. Unwarranted. Yes, the building is an older style. But it has been kept up and is in good repair. Arriving very late it made a nice impression. Check in was smooth and courteous. Special request was acknowledged and was already in place. Hmm - 2 for 2. Opened the door to the room itself and ....3 for 3. Cutely updated and was spotless. Extra outlets had been added by the bed. Microwave and mini fridge. Nice comfy mattress and pillows. Small table and chairs to eat or work. Everything simple and basic - perfect for a one night stay. Oh , and - no carpet - love it! No wondering what that gross spot might be while sneezing due to dust and the previous guests' dog hair. Point lost due to rather thin towels and no coffee service. But quite honestly - who cares? We rolled in at 10 and out at 7 and paid under $50. Cant beat it. Get your coffee at the Cracker Barrel across the road.... read more

I used to travel to SC to visit family unexpectedly. Unfortunately, choices of hotels in the area are slim. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were greeted by a woman who was walking into the office area from outside. She quickly asked us if we had a reservation and assisted us. The check-in was painless. We asked about an iron but there wasn't one in the room, so we had to carry the iron and ironing board to the room. Once we entered the room, it appeared to be what was pictured on the website. HOWEVER, we checked in the cable wasn't working around 3PM. After returning to the hotel around 10PM, the cable was still inoperable. The shower/bathroom was not properly cleaned and the hotel needed some updating. There wasn't even an alarm clock. Overall, the stay wasn't bad. It was quiet which is what we were looking for after a long day of travel. If you are looking for some place with all the amenities, look elsewhere. read more

Good stopping place for dog owners. There is a spacious area to walk the dog, Cracker Barrel across the street. The Motel itself is definitely a one star but it was clean. Office staff was courteous. A short drive away is the Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary for dog walking. read more

We usually travel in our RV because I don't feel comfortable in motels. On this trip we did not bring our RV and took a change and stayed at this Motel 6. It was just like the picture on their website. To my surprise I felt comfortable in the room. Everything appears very clean and fresh. Bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. On our way back to Florida. Getting a decent hotel on a budget is hit and miss. I was pleased with the cleanliness of this place. The bed was super comfortable. Room had microwave and fridge that were in good working order. Nice flat screen tv but we were too tired to watch. Tub and shower was like new. The only negative was the ice machine was out of order. This is the best Motel 6 I've stayed in. Well priced, easy access to I-95, perfect for dog parents. The management and staff are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are meticulously clean and the grounds are well maintained. There is a large area for the pupsters to roam and go to the bathroom. The a/c, plumbing, micro, fridge, tv work well. There are lights over the bed, but the switch is beside the curtain! I had a hard time finding it as well so had to ask. This is my fifth time here (I do the NY-FL run) and the rooms/service have been great during every visit. It's no frills which is exactly what I'm looking for when I travel. I want to get in and out easily and need a comfortable place for my dogs. Great value especially for the price. read more

Almost all the other hotels had been booked in our price range so we settled on this one. For a $50 hotel it was not a bad stay. It looks exactly like the pictures and was very modern and updated. A couple stains on the sheets which was offputting, but we just slept on top sheet with extra blanket. For the price and everything it was a good hotel. read more

As a reminder, this hotel's average nightly rate is $50. You will not find a better motel in SC at that price point. I booked online via one of those discount travel websites. By the time I arrived, it was well after midnight. The night auditor was very friendly. She quickly checked me in so I could finally sleep after hours of driving. What struck me as being special about this property was the extent of the renovations the owner has completed. I was not expecting to see new furniture or a flat screen TV when I walked into my room. Yes.... the building itself is old. However, the owner clearly invested a lot of energy and money into renovating the rooms to make up for the old building. The shower was hot and the floors were immaculately clean. The location across the street from a Cracker Barrell and immediately off the exit from the interstate make this hotel perfect for someone who is traveling. In particular, the hotel is pet friendly so I highly recommend it for anyone traveling with their fur babies. The next time I am passing through, this will be the hotel I stay at. This is the cleanest most friendly motel 6 that I have ever been to. The staff is wonderful. The guests that I have met were great. One of them I have become really close friends with. The cleaning staff does a wonderful job. The owner is always out and about helping staff with whatever he can do. He is working hard on making improvements to the building. The new rooms look very pretty. I am actually going to miss this hotel when I leave at the end of the month to be closer to work for my husband. If you get a chance and you are looking to stay in this area give this hotel a try. The only thing I would have loved was to have a pool. The state wouldn't let them open it even if there was one. This is the first hotel I have been in that allows guest occupied rooms to be cleaned. I do ours but staff cleans the occupied rooms. Consider getting a pool when covid is over. read more

They did update it but half of the channels on the TV didn't work and it shut off in the middle of the night and wouldn't turn on in the morning. I had a puppy with me who is reactive to sounds and she barked because the TV wasn't on and she could hear everything upstairs and outside going on because of thin walls and the owner / housekeeper was banging on our door every 30 minutes starting at 8 am because there was not a do not disturb sign to put on door and it was way before 11 a.m. Very rude when you're traveling all night and get in late and need to get sleep. There was a ton of hair and some weird huge yellow stain in the bathroom tub. And to top it off when we were loading up our car for some odd reason around 10:15 our room key wouldn't work?? They rush people out and are very rude and unprofessional. Again, check out time is it 11 a.m. I don't care what the cost of the motel was the owners need to realize that they were very rude and instead of doing things themselves maybe hire some real help. Horrible experience and replace TV's, ceilings and don't knock on people's doors until check out time. We are paying YOU to stay there and be respectful. read more

Horrible! This hotel is under different management than before! We have stayed here every time we come on beach trips. This time when we showed up it was me, my husband, our two kids, and my brother. My brother was Booked at a different hotel and pulled into the Motel 6 parking lot with us. She asked how many adults we had and we said 2 adults and 2 children. We paid the extra money for our dog to stay as well. She had an attitude and kept staring my brother down. We got the room, set our stuff inside, and another employee paced back and forth past our room and cars three times staring at us. It was very uncomfortable. We left for the beach. We drove back and walked in to a flooded room. The pipes under the bathtub were leaking all under the wall and under the tiles in the bathroom. Our bags and all of our clothes in them were soaked. We were very respectful and asked her if we could get a different room. She came to look at it and asked if we had been in the room already. We told her that we had sat our things down and left to go to the beach. She already had a different room key in her hand and said she was sorry. THEN we walk out of the hotel room and she sees my brother in his car waiting on us. She asked if he was with us and we said yes but he isn't staying here. She said that he could not be there at all and that there wasn't room for him to park. My husband explained to her that we were just winding down from the beach and talking and that there were plenty of empty parking spots while reiterating that he was not staying. She then said well I will just go talk to him then and started to March over to his car. I told her no ma'am don't approach my brother. We just walked out of a flooded room and you're telling me my Brother can't be on your property? Why? At that point we asked her for a refund and said that we would be taking our business elsewhere. She continued with raising her voice at us over this no matter how respectful we were to her. The lady in the room next to us said that there were bugs in her room and they refused her a refund. We've traveled this route for 18 years between VA and FL and have stayed in some pretty awful places. We have a chihuahua and so have to find pet friendly lodging. Most of the hotels/motels off of 95 are pretty disgusting and we've often taken one look at a room and left to try to find something halfway decent. Years ago, my husband had a bad Motel 6 experience and said he would never stay in one again. Tired of spending $100 for a uninhabitable room, we read-and re-read reviews and decided to take a chance on this Motel 6 even though we're beginning to think that so many reviews are fake. It was a pleasant surprise to find something reasonable, clean and convenient. The staff was friendly, the rooms very very plain but the key word is CLEAN!!!! Water pressure in the shower was decent, no mystery stains anywhere. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent bed for the night. Oh, and the a/c was quiet too. 100% worth it. read more
