And although we obviously chose a different plumber, he wanted to offer a complimentary service so we could have a good experience with his company if we were willing to give them a chance. What more can you ask of a company than that they respond professionally to criticism? As I said, if they succeed in improving their communication, Mother Modern was one of very few companies working on the weekend. So if you have a real emergency, hopefully Mother Modern can be at your door soon to address your issue. Original Review: I am only evaluating how hard it is to schedule a time slot with Mother Modern if you do not have a wide open schedule. They were difficult to communicate with, bumped our appointment, and showed up at a random time when we were not available. We have jobs, so we ended up hiring a more professional company that could give us a time slot. If you have an emergency and are *very* flexible, will be home all day, and won't mind if your time slot is bumped, then maybe try Mother Modern. A point in their favor is that they were working on the weekend. We had an exterior leak sizable enough that we had to shut off water to the house. Of course we found it at ten 'til 5 on a Saturday. We fully expected not to get an appt until Monday and were prepared to live without water for a few days. But on Sunday morning we were able to get an appt scheduled for 2 pm with Mother Modern. We then got ready for church, but just before leaving we got a call saying they were in the area and could come now. We said we preferred our 2pm appt; it worked with our schedule for the day. He said that another job had been scheduled for 2 and our appt had been canceled. What?! We had stopped contacting potential plumbers because we had made a firm appt with these guys. He said they could come Monday instead but couldn't give a time window, just that they "will call 30 min prior." You can't even tell me if it will be morning or afternoon on a weekday? Clients are just supposed to be available all day on a workday? Very odd. We wanted to try to find a more reliable company, so we said (in case we couldn't make an appt with someone else) that if they had someone available Monday AFTERNOON, to give us 1 hour notice so we could meet the technician. They sent someone first thing Monday MORNING and gave half hour notice. We missed meeting this technician, of course. The company wants your business, but has real communication and scheduling issues. Maybe Mother Modern specializes in the most urgent of emergencies and expects you to be anxiously waiting on property 24/7 for them to show. So if you're desperate or very flexible, maybe this company will work for you. If you have a job, then Mother Modern might be a headache to deal with. I was starting to wonder if maybe this was considered normal for an area like DFW, but no. Good Plumbers, Good People, Pricing Model Needs Work What they did right: 1) I approached the business through Yelp and the business manager got back to me immediately. 2) He listened to my concerns, needs, and requirements. Then he verified his understanding and took notes before dispatch. 3) His plumber called me within an hour. 4) His plumber gave me an ETA and after some discussion about the work requirements said that he thought he had the right part in his truck. 5) The plumber did the job correctly. What they might have done better: 1) Pricing, pricing, pricing. 2) The plumber did not have the part on his truck and had to run to the store to get it. Maybe a daily morning inventory of commonly used parts would improve efficiency. 3) The plumber left the cover off of my water meter. I was the last call of the day and it was getting dark, but attention to detail beyond just the core plumbing job is expected. My initial review was written a few days after the work and I was upset at the cost. This is a revision based on the totality of my experience with SND Plumbing. The Business Manager called me after the review to learn: 1) What SND Plumbing could have done better 2) Potentially salvage a customer relationship 3) Hopefully leave the phone call as friends even if we agreed to disagree. SND plumbing went beyond my expectations. Josh came out to our home SAME DAY as I called! It's an older andhome but has been remodeled. We had sewage come back up through our shower . He was able to quickly fix the issue. They even used a camera to look through all our pipes to completely fix the issue and make sure it wasn't something more complicated. He cleaned out the hose bib on the front of the house but the vacuum breaker he cleaned out is now leaking continuously. this will need to be repaired or replaced now. not happy about this he should not have left the job unfinished. So we purchased a hot water heater for our home. SND came out to install for us. When they told us it was $1,175 for this we lost it. My husband builds homes the 2 plumbing companies that he uses quoted their installs for anyone $400 other one was $300 both wouldn't be able to come out till Monday/Tuesday so no worries we look around. I worked for a plumbing company that doesn't service this area just the dallas/frisco area but even they don't charge anywhere near $1175 for install. My in Laws found SND and we were excited to get this installed an electric hot water heater with the area it was being put in was already up to code. Let's just say first $1900 for just a hot water heater through them your being scamed and second $1175 for the labor is absolutely just taking your money. I HIGHLY suggest looking else where prior to using SND. Our tech that did arrive was very kind and pleasant I will definitely say that, But over all the company needs to re-evaluate their pricing system. read more
