Staff are extremely rude and unhelpful…read more Stock is limited in my opinion, there seems to be a lot more online than in this store. I love Dorothy Perkins clothes and shoes, they are always a perfect fit and of good quality - but I tend to stay away from this store as the customer service is substandard.

This store is just inside of the Northumberland Street entrance of Eldon Sqaure shopping centre and so is easy to get to and practically always the first clothing store I head to when I come to toon to shop! This place has two floors with a bit of a steep staircase but most of the good stuff is downstairs anyway. The staff are really good here too, and recently went out of their way to help me order stuff in and use a gift voucher card I had. This is a good place to come to early in the day as it can get very busy later on.

There's maternity and baby clothing, a toy section, nursery and feeding equipment and travel systems/buggies. It's one of the first places that many expectant parents go to when they're planning out their needs and it's a good place to start. The maternity clothing range isn't very exciting though not as frumpy as I remember it being a few years back and the quality is good. Their baby clothing is quite expensive, I think, including the new Baby K range from Myleene Klass. The store has two floors with stairs between and a lift in store for access between levels.
This store is smaller than some in the mothercare chain and as such sells a limited number of items…read morecompared to other stores, so if you're going for something in particular then I would recommend ringing in advance to make sure that they stock it. If you're not in a rush then they will order it online for you and deliver it to your home on standard delivery for free. However, they do have a good selection of basics including all of the ranges from feeding, bathing, sleeping, nursery items, maternity wear and products and gifts too. They also have a lot of pushchairs and buggies on display so you can see what you are buying. However, with it being inside the shopping mall i'm not certain how they go about checking the fit of carseats in your own car? although i have not asked about this. To be honest, i find that it is useful for smaller items but for anything larger or that i may need help with I always go to the larger store at the Team Valley after receiving extremely poor customers service at the metrocentre branch when my buggy needed repairing after only a few months. This may be because of the smaller size of the store, they have less staff, despite it still being very busy. This means that you often have to wait for an assistant and when you do get to speak to someone they are often rushing to get to speak to the next person waiting. Overall, I would say that the shop is very good if you know what you're after although I would go elsewhere or at a very quiet time if you think that you're going to need some advice.

The range is not the nest but on the plus side you can order anything within the catalogue to arrive insore. The staff are very helpful and the clothes I find are a bit on the expensive side.

Love Wilko's!! My personal 'go to' place for any home essentials at a bargain price!…read more There's always an offer to be had on cleaning products which understandably no one likes to pay a hefty price for, and there is a pretty sizeable interior decoration section upstairs with all the basics you might need to decorate your bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom or garden! Yes it's cheap but actually a lot of it is pretty decent quality too. If your home is in need of a refurb without breaking the bank balance then Wilko's is your store! If you're a sucker for pick n mix at the cinema I'd recommend getting yourself here as they sell Candy King sweets at much cheaper prices. Sometimes a flashback to childhood is just medicine! The only downsides to Wilko's are that the staff always seem irritated if you ask them anything and you will normally have to queue for a fair bit at the tills even when it's quiet.
Hands down I am a huge Wilkinsons fan! After four years of depriving myself from Wilko goodies, I…read moream happy to say that Wilkinsons is still the cheap, reliable place I remember it to be. This is the type of store great for bargain hunters wanting to add some flourish and essentials to their house. This store is huge so I haven't explored it much beyond the pet and stationery sections (the most important bits!) YET, but I can say that these departments are well stocked with a wide selection. As you enter, there's escalators going upstairs to the home department and a cafe, to the right are back-to-school deals and food with 5 till points beyond that. Deeper into the store on the right is the stationery section (which has a good range off DIY and card making goodies) and the pet section is further in with another entrance/exit at the back of the store. The pet aisle is quite big with a good range of own brand treats and branded treats that don't come with the supermarket price tags. The only reason why I'm giving a four-star rating is that there are definitely not enough staff on the tills so the queue was quite long. Also I noticed a lot of dust around and on products... a few more staff members wouldn't go amiss.
