Odet is my favorite and my friends and I love her classes. she is very energetic , knowledgeable about muscle groups and personal training, and fun.If you are concerned abt injuries, she'll emphasize forms and correct forms frequently to prevent injury. Lagree classes at Motivate are such a good workout. I haven't taken everyone, but I love Courtney's instruction. She's patient with clients and also with the instructors who she trains. Top tier in my book. The neighborhood is super cute, parking is easy, and the facility is clean. So what's not to like? I'm just not a fan of the Montrose studio over their other locations. The room gets so hot and we're not even in the dead of summer yet. I'm not sure if A/C is limited or what's going on with the ventilation. Also, the layout of the space is narrow but long. Machines are spread out with enough space in between each other, but they're basically stacked vertically (one behind another for a few rows). It does seem to be the most space-conscious arrangement for what they are working with, but it's hard to follow if you're all the way in the back and the instructor is demo'ing a new move or if the instructor is newer or not superbly clear throughout class. If this studio location is close to you, do NOT skip on Motivate! Bring grip socks (if you don't want to buy them there) and be on time. If you're early, check out the boutiques and mom-in-pops along Honolulu Avenue. Choose a machine in or near the front unless you're a regular. read more

Motivate (I go to the Glendale and Montrose locations) is the best of the best for Lagree. I've been going here for over 8 years and have tried other Lagree studios. Motivate has the best instructors (knowledgeable, skilled, and caring). It's a well run studio with lots of classes throughout the day and evening. I love that this workout continues to challenge me and is still fun after years of doing it. I credit Motivate for my strength, flexibility and endurance. I feel strong, toned and am in better shape than when I was in my 20s. I've done all the workouts - HIIT, running, cycling, Pilates, barre - and nothing comes close to changing my body like Lagree. Before Motivate, I was "skinny fat" - little muscle tone, no definition, no flexibility and weak. Fast forward - had a kid and now in my late 40s and feel/look better than when I was younger. Motivate has made me a healthier, more fit, super toned and strong woman. I love this studio so much! read more

Lagree is supposed to be a HIIT workout. Giving a three star because, I came here for my first time and the instructor greeted me and informed me that "I won't get it." I understand that I may not, but it's all about the first times and the first impressions for newer people/guests. She instructs the class what to do but never did anything herself nor gave any feedback. Just seemed like she wanted to get through the class. I'm hoping it was just this instructor and not the whole team that does classes like she did. But on a good note, I was sore for two days. read more

Arrived 6 minutes late during my lunch break and they would not let me into the class. Given I rushed over and did everything I could to make it on time. Extremely disappointing after being a loyal client for so long. I don't think me entering the studio one minute after their policy is going to be unsafe for anyone. Claiming that this is for safety is ridiculous. What a money grab and ridiculous policy. As a young person who works hard to pay for the class this was super sad to me. I have actually been to this studio several times. I dropped off from going as I thought the instructors were good, not great. I am a bit of a Lagree snob. ENTER EMILY, HOT DOG, OH MY, YES, YES, YES!!! I am afraid to share this incredible instructor, no I mean INCREDIBLE instructor as her classes already fill up so fast I can never get in. She is the absolute BOMB. Not just solid, not just good, but incredible. Her choreography and ability to make corrections and keep her EYE on the class is second to NONE. I have been to every Lagree studio in the area including downtown, Encino, Pasadena, and Silverlake, and NOBODY can top Emily. She is fantastic. read more

She is THE GREATEST and the reason I have a membership now. I look forward to her class every week and I never leave disappointed. Heard there was a free class on May 5th so you know I had to go. First time here, but I've been to their place in Glendale which I really liked. Same look. Free parking. Street parking also available. I like how clean the studio is. The machines are spaced out nicely. My daughter and I haven't worked out on these machines in awhile, so we were hoping to get a quick review when we got there early, but the instructor didn't ask/approach anyone who came early. Good thing we figured it out after awhile, but the frustration was REAL!! We did a lot of staring at the pros before we really got the hang of it. Even with the bad start, we still got a good workout. Muscles we haven't used in awhile were sore which was great. read more

My experience here has been nothing but 5-star. Specifically, instructors Charlene and Cereza are top notch and provide excellent coaching and instruction for Lagree beginners like myself. The workout itself is 45 minutes with little breaks. And the focus tends to be leg, core/abs, glute heavy and quite literally left me sore for days!! There is nothing I've done previously that prepared me for this type of workout with a Megaformer machine. Nothing!! The coached workouts here are a nice mix of static holds, resistance, compound and micro movements. I would highly recommend this spot, especially for dudes, who want to throw in some serious muscle and workout confusion into their fitness routine. However it may be tough for beginners as it is quite a challenging workout. Let me start by saying I have never worked out in my life. I decided to try this studio. The trainers are all so great but my god Stephanie is the absolute best trainer I have experienced. I visit the montrose location but I am willing to drive to silverlake to experience her class. I feel so comfortable in her class and i always have so much fun! She is the best. It was definitely a challenging workout, but not in the sense that it was productive. I booked an introductory class and wrongly assumed I would be among other beginners and some care would be taken to ensure I knew how to use the machines before diving into an intermediate to advanced workout. I was the only beginner in the class and had never used a reformer or megaformer before. The teacher quickly pointed out and explained what everything on the machine, but I was unable to focus on the instruction while also trying to be safe on the machine and understand where my body and the machine should be. The instructor did not demonstrate on the machine but was off of a machine gesturing. Several times I realized I was in the wrong position, but the instructor never warned me. I ended the class early because I strained my hip flexor. I will be looking for actual introductory classes from another studio. I do not recommend this studio to anyone who is not in peak fitness and ability or who has not used a reformer several times before. The vibe was honestly a little judgy if you weren't able to follow along at the pace the instructor was going. There is not sufficient guidance from instructors to use the megaformer safely. I am glad I did not commit to a longer term subscription because I would rather find a more welcoming supportive and safe studio. I am writing this so that the owner knows at least in one case why an introductiory session was not converted to a longer- term customer. I am trying out another studio next week. read more

Their second outpost and it's got all the right stuff. Great instructors I already know and love. New machines spaced out in a way you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbor or are going to scramble egg (the name of an actual move) all over them). Complimentary hair ties (it's the little things). Free parking. First class is $15 and comes with a pair of grip socks (which are $12-$15 on their own, so basically you're getting a free workout with your socks or vice versa). If you're a newbie to Lagree, get to class ten minutes early so you can get acquainted with the machine. It's a doozy of a workout, but it will start to make sense after a few visits! read more

Love to work out here at Motivate. I started my Pilates journey at all the studios around my house, and the Motivate is the place I settled in the last winter. It is always challenging to do the workout. I never felt that I need more exercise after Motivate. I am hating myself why I am showing up and doing this challenges to myself but feels great after. I think I met almost all instructors, and every instructor was excellent and professional . I was amazed that every instructor was well-trained and gave us a same direction during the class. My favorite workout! All of the instructors are amazing! I have been coming since November and am stronger and more fit than I've ever been. It really helps that the class sizes are small (max 10 people) so the instructors can focus on you having the correct form, therefore making it a super effective workout. The 45 minutes always flies by for me and I always leave feeling energized and accomplished. I've tried lots of different workouts around the area (reformer pilates, barre) and while they were fun to try out, this is the one I'm actually sticking to. Nothing is as effective as Lagree. There are so many different moves on the Megaformer, you'll never be bored. read more

This is my favorite workout of all time! It's always a challenge and I noticed change right away in my body! Lagree is where it's at if you want to get toned and lean. It's not just strength training, you also stretch your muscles which does change your body in the best way! When I came to this studio my body was flabby and saggy. It really made my lower and upper body completely changed, toned and lifted. I have nice muscle mass but it's not too much. This studio is my favorite out of all the Lagree fitness studios in LA. It's no secret that Lagree is my favorite type of workout. It's pretty much my only fitness and I'd like to think I'm in pretty dang good shape thanks to this full body, muscle quivering, slow burn workout. Motivate Montrose was a great place to come for my first LA area Lagree workout. Your first class is only $15 AND you get a free pair of sticky socks on your first class - best of all, they're the really nice kind. Not that I need another pair but the ones I got here are by far my cutest and now favorite. There's plenty of space here to move around and looking into the mirror while doing the moves, it's easy to focus on you and and only you and really power through with the motivation of the instructors and the music. I felt like we didn't get as many moves in as in my usual studio, but for a 7:30am Tuesday class it was exactly what I needed. read more

Love Motivate! It's an excellent work out. Every instructor has their own style and no two sessions are the same. It never gets boring and there are a number of ways to modify each move for a beginner to an expert so I believe it will be hard to plateau. Highly recommended! read more

This is the best workout I have found. It is truly a full body workout in 45 min and it goes by so fast. The studio is very clean; parking is easy and has a good size bathroom if you need to change. I love Motivate! I just came across the Lagree workout and Motivate studios about 3 months ago and I'm addicted. Not only is the Lagree work out great but the teachers at Motivate make it even better. They are all so helpful and so nice, it makes working out fun. The studio is beautiful and very clean. The owner is super sweet. There are tons of different times that they offer classes. There's a time that will work for everyone. Best workout in town! Only 45 minutes and you literally get the best core/arms/legs/butt workout. But be prepared...it is super intense, fast transitions and no real breaks. Think dripping sweat and wanting to give up during a plank to pike. But it is so worth it at the very end of class...your abs will be thanking you. Parking is plentiful behind the studio. The studio itself is new, clean, and modern. Just wish there were mirrors at the back of the studio bc you move around quite a bit from the front to back of the machine. read more

Absolutely love love love Motivate Montrose! I started my journey here about a month ago because I no longer had the motivation to go to a regular degular boring gym.. and I have to say, I'm enjoying it so much. Love that I can book classes in advance so I can hold myself accountable of working out--unlike the gym! I've never taken a pilates or lagree class before so the first few classes were a bit of a struggle but I'm finally getting the hang of things! I wanted a full body work out, cardio and pilates/balance type training all in one that's exactly what I get here. I come here 3x week and Marggie is incredibly helpful, sweet and encouraging. Not to mention her workouts will kick your butt! It's def not easy but it's SO worth it.I can definitely see changes in my body already! I am so happy. I look forward to working out every week now. Great Studio! I had a baby 4 months ago and was looking for something to get me back into shape. I've been going 3 times a week since the grand opening and I can already feel a difference in my body. This is an amazing work out! The place is close and easily accessible. Parking is also really easy. All the instructors are wonderful and really help you and, no pun intended, but motivate you to push through the wonderful burn during the exercises. I definitely feel stronger and more in shape already. I have been going every day basically and it definitely gets easier the more you do and how consistent you are. Absolutely LOVE this studio. The group classes are wonderful, and the machines are well maintained. The place is really cute, when driving by make sure you pay attention cause you might miss it. I've been to a bunch of other places but Motivate for sure beats them all. They're better priced and have more reasonable policies, some of these other places forget that life happens and just want to get whatever dollar they can out of you. I did one class yesterday and one today. I am sore in the best way! Cereza's class really worked my whole body, muscles I forgot I even had. She explained the moves well so I knew what to do.
