I'm going to be moving from Columbus in August to Dothan, do you do that?

Yes! We perform long distances moves all across the country.

If I'm moving to another state, would I be able to ride in the truck as well?

Hi Cheryl, thank you for your question. Unfortunately due to regulations, that is not allowed.

I just noticed your comment back to me and even though it's been several months ago I would like to…read morerespond to your response just for clarification and so people who search for a moving company can have an assessment of my experience with your company to determine if you would be right for them. That is, after all, what a review is for. To clarify, I contacted you through this app on the 20th, you are correct. However, I called and spoke with someone on the 9th, 11 days before commenting through this app. He asked what I had to move, did it have stairs and where was I moving from and to where and also asked what date I needed you for. I told him the date that I had to be out by was the 30th and I could be flexible as long as it was by the 30th. He informed me that someone would be contacting me back with a price and date at that time. I never heard back anything by phone and even tried calling again with no answer a couple of times. I then posted through this app with the project scheduling on the 20th, four days before your defensive comment back to me, without an apology, I might add. If I could give zero stars for this company I would just on the basis of you not offering an apology for my experience and getting defensive with me when I'm just posting my experience with your company for others to be able to make an informed decision based on reviews. This isn't personal, I don't know you. I just simply did not have a good experience with your company.

The rate isn't bad either and we really got what we paid for! They had all of our heavy stuff loaded up in less than two hours! Couldn't have asked for better service.

I've used University Movers twice, and while the first time was pretty good (though they did charge…read moreme more than was agreed on even though they didn't need more time that was contracted for), the second time was an unmitigated disaster, and after a long, drawn out process of attempting to get the refund (which they repeatedly promised I would be given as compensation for all the problems), the end result is that (1.) no refund has been provided, (2.) all attempts to get details regarding the amount and method of sending the refund have gone unanswered, and (3.) they are now no longer answering my calls or texts. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. For the short version ... my brother and I did the majority of the moving ourselves, and they still charged me full price while continually promising not to do so. If you want good communication, timely service, transparency, and ethical business practices (like actually following through on commitments and not billing clients for services not rendered ... or rendered exceptionally poorly), then I strongly recommend you NOT use University Movers. The treatment I've received feels scammy (at best), and my boss has offered to have her husband (a lawyer) handle this for me moving forward. For the long version ... I reached out to them in late 2025 to request 2 movers to help move my possessions out of a storage unit and into a moving van. I even called back to confirm the day, time, cost, and number of movers were set in place. When it was time to move at the end of January 2026, it was one delay and complication after another. They repeatedly explained that it was the bad weather ... but I and my brother were also driving and out moving my stuff in that same bad weather, so I was unable to see how that was a justifiable excuse. They called shortly before they were to be at my storage, explained delays had occurred and asked if it was okay that they move my scheduled time back by 1.5 hours. Since I had little other choice, I confirmed the new time and agreed. Later, after not hearing updates, I called to confirm we were still on schedule. I was. They were not. They needed to move me back again. In the end, they moved my back by 2.5 hours ... and still ended up being 40 minutes late for that time. Due to repeated delays, I and my brother ended up moving almost the entirety of my storage unit ourselves. When ONE mover final showed up, there was so little left to do that he helped for about 30 minutes before he had to stop work for about 15 minutes and wait for the other guy to show up. Eventually, two other movers arrived and moved my sofa, desk, dresser, and bed. This took about another 20 minutes. After about 10 minutes of tying things down and securing the load, all the work was complete. I was billed nearly $400 for the full two hours (despite being repeatedly assured this would not happen) when what I received was approximately 55 minutes of actual work time (during half of which I only had half the movers I had requested), delays in my moving and travel plans, and delays in my brother's work schedule due to how late they were. I was told (over the phone) by the gentleman in their office that he would discuss the details of compensation with his boss and get back to me. Over the next several weeks, I heard no updates and usually couldn't even get someone on the phone. My only next update was a bill for the full amount. I immediately reached out, but I got the same, "I'll check with the boss and get back to you" answer. From there, they would claim to attempt a reimbursement, but when I asked (on at least 3 separate occasions) for details on the amount, the method of delivery, and the date by which to expect it, I never once got an answer with specifics. This makes it seem as if they never intended to honor their promise in the first place. So, my next step is letting anyone and everyone know exactly why they should not patronize this company. For good service, go elsewhere. They'll take your money, but they won't deliver quality service.
