Received my motorcycle license in December through Harley Davidson course. Avoid this garbage company!!

Took this course in Dec '22 as a first-time motorcycle rider. The instructor asked if I had any experience and I told instructor that I didn't. The first part of the course is in a classroom. The instructor had a slideshow that the class went over and then we took a quick multiple-choice test. Before we went to the riding range, the instructor let us know that he will have to "raise his voice" on the range to be heard over the motorcycle engines and asked if everyone was ok with that. I said that I was ok with that, along with the rest of the class. Of course, it is important that the instructor needs to be heard over the motorcycle engines on the range. However, when we get to the range, my experience of the course (more specifically, the instructor) is terrible and I cannot recommend. The instructor apparently thought that the BRC course was a military boot-camp. He was not raising his voice to be heard over the engines. The engines were NOT that loud. He was instead yelling at us for any and every single mistake I, and others, were making during the course. I should mention that there were only three people in this class. There wasn't that many students! As a first time rider, I was (obviously) a little nervous riding a motorcycle for the first time. *Being constantly yelled at for mistakes that new-riders make is not good for learning.* For example, we were doing a braking exercise. I went brought the motorcycle up to speed and then braked quickly, remaining calm, comfortable, and loose on the motorcycle. The instructor said I need to brake harder. The next time around *while I was in the middle of braking* the instructor was yelling at me from 5 feet away "*BRAKE! BRAKE! BRAKE!*". As a first-time motorcycle rider, I slammed on my brakes immediately! I didn't know what the instructor was panicking about but I was going to follow directions! Fortunately, I was not thrown from the bike. However, the instructor saw fit to then berate me on slamming on my brakes. I cannot recommend anyone take the BRC at Motorcycle Training Center until new instructors who can competently teach the course are brought in. I have taken the BRC at a different place with an instructor who is knowledgeable and patient with first-time riders. I learned a lot more from the other course and am riding with much more confidence. read more

TOOK THE COURSE 8/20-8/21 in 2020 I never purchased a bike at the time , a year later I was finally ready to purchase the perfect beginner bike ! I called in and they only offered advanced or beginners courses which is perfectly fine since I didn't have the skill to ride my bike to the course I opted for the beginners and I specifically requested Sonny whom had taught my first class a year prior. They gave me a discount due to being a repeat rider... the customer service was always efficient and polite nothing bad to say there ! The instructor was fair to the point and a common sense type of guy very direct in his approach yet also full of knowledge as well ! Needless to say other than the 4 days I spent in mesquite riding on the course I had never put any other wheels on pavement other than a car but now especially after repeating the course for the second time I have made my way to and from some of my most frequent stops on my bike and feel very confident that if I continue to progress I will be able to take the advanced course in the spring is 2022 !!! Thanks for the lesson I appreciate it and feel 100% safer after !!! My family does as well! read more

Thomas was a fantastic instructor. Gave the course the right amount of seriousness, and was helpful when he needed to be. The class was given in a digestible format, and I was amazed that even someone who had never been on a bike in our class developed such great skill so quickly under Thomas' careful instruction. I would absolutely reccomend this course for any new riders. read more

When I say I'm a scared newbie on bikes - think trembling. No experience whatsoever (other than the one motorbike I got on when I was about 12, mowing down a row of English Peas in my aunt's garden). However, in an attempt to get over my fears, I signed up for the class. The office staff was great at making me feel comfortable and assured me that the coach on site would take care of helping me feel more comfortable on a bike. They even provided the motorcycles for us to train on. The classroom portion kept my interest the entire time and the instructor really knew his stuff. He played well off of each of the people in the class and kept it flowing right along. I never got bored and never felt like anything was above my head. When we got on the range, he knew I was nervous and assured me that everything would be ok. After every exercise, he let me know if I was doing something wrong and how I should be doing it. By the end of the class, I was still nervous, but I really felt a lot more confident on that bike than I ever imagined would be possible. read more

I don't know how MTC can even classify themselves as a motorcycle training center or how they ever became certified to teach the basic motorcycle safety course. They advertise this course for beginners but if you haven't been riding for years and have all maneuvers mastered, you will fail! You will also be made to feel like you are stupid for even wanting to try to learn. The instructor, Dell, is very judge mental and according to his manager, is not following the state guidelines. Dell forced our class to stay 5 1/2 hours (2 hours over) on the course doing obstacles and getting more and more frustrated with us because we were making mistakes and we were getting frustrated because we were all exhausted. His manager told us today that Dell should have only required us to go through 4 obstacles that day. However, Dell is still teaching at MTC and nothing is changing. Take my advice, don't take your BRC with this company!!! You will waste your money and time! read more

Mr. Pugh was a great teacher. I am not an easy student and I feel like I learned so much by taking his course. I felt I got my money's worth and I honestly feel like I drive better as well. He was pretty patient and answered questions well. I finally understand how "pressing" turns the bike, lol! Take the course...it's worth it. read more

MTC management and office staff was very professional and helpful. They went out of their way to help me. I give this rating because of their independent contractor(now you see why they hire Independent Contractors)The Instructor Thomas P. while a very good instructor and others claim funny. He is a inconsistent grader. While I am not a professional coach. When you fail to follow instructions during their test you automatically fail the course. I made very small mistakes yet individuals who made larger mistakes that failed to follow instructions were able to receive their license. I wasted a lot of time and money taking this course TWICE. read more

Definitely not recommended place for beginners who has never ridden a motorcycle. But when I got there, EVERY SINGLE ONE of my classmates has already experienced with motorcycle for years. I don't know how they were able to advertised for beginners who has never experienced with a motorcycle, run with it, AND GET AWAY WITH IT. Not letting beginners practice with enough time, and just test them right away. What a complete scam. read more

I took the BRC course in Burleson Tx, with Coach Tom Pugh, I have been riding for more than 75% of my life from street bikes to dirt bikes and cruisers, Our instructor Tom was hands down the best, straight forward and not ashamed to let you know what you need to work on. (For the guys that really needed that extra time), as for myself being a little more advanced he would help me break the bad habits I have formed over the years and inspired me to try different things for my safety. I can honestly say he helped me learn some good stuff that could possibly save my life. I would in fact refer friends and family to this program. Mr. Tom you are a great teacher and hopefully I get the pleasure of staying in touch with you. read more

I was incredibly excited to learn how to ride a bike. I had zero experience and talked non-stop about this class for weeks before the big weekend. It quickly became obvious that the instructor was a bit of a misogynist and there was no way he was going to pass me. For example at one point during the classroom portion of the class he asked what was wrong with my face. There was nothing wrong with my face - I was just trying to listen and remember everything that was being said! Then when we got on the bikes he yelled at me every time I made a lap. Talk about demoralizing. The guys in my class had a completely different experience and loved the instructor. I had a few minutes to speak to the wife of one of the other students on the second day and she confirmed that she had the same experience as I did when she took the class from the same instructor a few weeks priors. Bottom line: if you are a female and considering taking this class DO NOT. There are many other wonderful instructors and schools out there. Go to any one of them. read more
