CHips is consistent, firm, and fair. He follows the curriculum precisely as written. He is not afraid (and will not hesitate) to tell you when you are doing something unsafe or dangerous to others. The cost can be a lot of money for those who have to travel a long way to get there, especially when additional food and lodging costs are added. No special treatment will be given. If you do something unsafe, Chips will let you know immediately. If you have a fragile ego, you may get your feelings hurt, but you be safer, and will get the training and confidence you paid for if you make it to the end. Many do not. From what I have observed and experienced, each class of eight loses one or two students for a variety of reasons: - Some get turned away for not having the proper attire. - They fail the written test - They could not follow verbal directions and became a danger to themself or others. - They were not comfortable on the motorcycle, and could not master the skills necessary to perform the required skills. (while practicing) - They fail the practical skills test (a student in my class was unable to perform the swerve maneuver successfully, and failed less than ten minutes from the end of the course) - The course was too physically demanding - They crashed and sustained injuries. (It happened to my wife, I left with her and had to start over at the beginning) The course starts slowly, but every exercise builds on the previous one. It will be a challenge for some and easy for others. Chips may sound gruff, but he cares about your safety, and the quality of training. When he awards your certificate, you will have accomplished something not everyone is capable of. When you pass, you feel a sense of achievement; confident that standards were not lowered. The Bottom Line... At this course you will not be handed a certificate for the price of attendance. If you pass the course, you will possess the basic knowledge and skills required to operate a motorcycle and get an M endorsement on your driver's license. read more

So many bad reviews because people are salty they got kicked out of the class for a safety reason. He's hard yes, he is hard, its your life he takes in his hand when you leave the class you snowflakes. This isn't a license at the end for showing up. There is no participation trophy at the end. You have to show up, participate, have the intelligence to comprehend what is being taught. So you want coddled and given 10 chances to pass? Guess what, the car next to you reading their iPhone doesn't give a Sh*T what you did that you couldn't get to class on time and she will run your @ss off the road. Hes tough yes, and but these reviews are ridiculous. If CHiPs kicked you out of class it was for your own good. He quite possibly saved your life. End of the day. Show up on time with the proper gear. Eyes up! Its a tough class, just because you paid $250.00 doesn't mean you get the trophy. You have to earn it. I would think you would want to test yourself to see if this is something you can handle at 65-75-80 mph. If you cant handle it in the class you DAMN sure have no business on a bike. To the comment about the bikes being from the 80's, there is a clutch, throttle and a break. I have a brand new Harley... Same exact thing on mine too. Not sure what the complaint about that was as they run they do what you need to do on them. Short review, its a tough class and you will be thankful you took it after you participate and learn it. CHIPS was my instructor and he will be my future instructor for additional advance classes. I have the highest confidence in his ability to teach and demonstrate to new as well as experienced riders. My class "Crash Test Dummies" consisted of a wide range of riders experience. I never once felt unsafe, or that the range was not secure. Communication is clear and consistent throughout the program. Range time was my favorite obviously but the classroom time was just as much of a revelation to one's ability and knowledge. There were some class members who through several documented incidents unfortunately failed to complete the course due to inability to control the bike or by their own will chose to leave the class or inability to pass the written test. This was not without CHIPS full support and efforts, he went above and beyond to work with each student. My experience with CHIPS is 10/10 and I recommend him to others often. read more

I have wanted to ride motorcycles since I was 5 years old. I am 50 now and I finally achieved my goal and that is all do to the wonderful instruction I received at MTC Magnolia and "Chips". I took the class and he asked me if I felt confident enough to take the final riding portion first I did. Scoring a 99 percent. I picked up my first bike the next day brand new. That was June 13th 2019 I have ridden everyday since putting over 5500 miles on that new bike an MT 07 2019. I have taken a trip to North of Hot Springs Arkansas and back, riding at night, heavy traffic, animals running out in front of me cars pulling out and heavy rain. I have ridden safely and with confidence in all of these conditions thanks to the training I received at MTC and CHIPs Great instructor. I rode bikes back in my 20's, and quit after a wreck. Fast forward 40 years and now I am 66 and wanting to ride with my Grandson. I bought a bike and know I'm a little rusty on the finer points of safe riding, so I signed up for the intermediate riding course along with my grandson. Our instructor was Carrie, and she was the very best! She is very knowledgeable, and has great patience, and a knack for quickly recognizing your weaknesses and is very good at articulating the cure. She can answer any question you can dream up and encourages her students to excel. Great job Carrie! I learned so much from you! I feel so much more in control now! My sister & I took this course with Chips! He was very detailed in his instructions & made sure everyone stayed safe which is always a plus when you have a bunch of newbies starting out. Be prepared to learn as this is only a 2 day class & there is a lot to get through. Chips can be tough but if your there to learn & not just to get through the class you will get along with him just fine. Even towards the end he had a song stuck in my head to relax during course training. It really helped having the little bit of advice & made me understand the movements better. This was such an awesome experience the instructor is sturn but very fair very fun class to take very very instructful great attitude and class dynamic the best thing is that as long as you know how to listen and take direction and or advice it goes smoooooooth very good instructor that I will probably never forget and the nest part is when your done you can go get a bike lol. Chips is an amazing instructor. He was very patient with all riders in my class. He had a great attitude and made the class entertaining while keeping it productive. The course was well organized and his instructions were very clear. He made sure each person had a bike they were comfortable on and gave them time to get used to the controls. This wannabe thinks he is God's gift to teaching bike riders. He definitely has an issue with Military Veterans. Not to mention his ego when you call him on his bullshit towards other clients. I can get better instructions from Joe Biden on a bicycle. He bullies everyone that isn't 100% perfect, even though they are learning? Very humbling experience I would recommend anybody seeking to get a license to join this class very family oriented, respectful and courteous and for people who already have a license. Don't know what other instructors are like but absolutely do not take this course on Thursday and Friday. I have over a year riding experience, could not get through it. He will wear you down, stress you out. He tries to fail you. It was a miserable experience. Former army sargent, current jailer, hard-ass. Just not a teacher. Short tempered, grumpy.
