We ordered the shrimp Alfredo and a meat lovers pizza and were so glad that we did. Tasty, generous portions, and super cost effective. Granted we had a buy one get one deal on our entrees and also took part in a daily happy hour of buy one get one cocktail. We came out like bandits. Full and tipsy. Still, even though we definitely got our money's worth visiting Motorino, that doesn't mean the food was subpar. In fact, it was the tastiest Italian we've had since moving here. It definitely made me feel like I was eating at a New York style establishment. We're definitely coming back here and at happy hour. You'd be wasting money if you didn't.

Best measure of how good ANY pizza place is - Margherita!

Lets face it, no matter how much pop corn you eat during the movie you still come out wanting to munch on something! Alas if you find yourself at Greenbelt 3 cinemas, one of the few dining spots on that side of the mall - that stay open till fairly late - is Motorino. Its not out of this world pizza - despite the exuberant claims of "wood fired pizza" (they dont all taste good) - but it does a better job than most of the other pizza options around that area. 2 people, 1 large pizza, pasta and a couple of beers put me out around 1000 petots! Pede na. But im not screaming for Motorino - (Gino's pa din )

Oh dear Lord. Thank you so much for Motorino. I finally found the pizza place I have been waiting for all my life. Motorino's pizza crust is equal parts chewy and crisp, with just the right amount of heft. The crust is neither overwhelmingly thick, nor is it paper thin. And the pizzas are wood-baked, people. Wood baked. I cannot stress that enough. I actually finished an entire pizza by myself, and I am not ashamed. No, I am not. Too bad I had to play safe and ordered a Margherita. I would have loved to try the other flavors to see if they're also as good as I think they are. Motorino is not cheap at all. Their pizzas start at P395+ and reaches the P700-range easily. However, for the pizza you're getting, it's worth it.

I'm a huge fan of simplicity. It's common to find restaurants that stuff their menus with a lot of products. You won't find this practice in Motorino Pizza. All you get is antipasti, pizza, desserts and drinks. For me, this just works. This is a pizza place, specializing in crafting pizza topped with quality ingredients. Nothing else. This focused approach always attracts me to try out these kinds of places because it means they are dedicated to their craft. Kind of like Japanese chefs who dedicate their life to mastering the art of sashimi. I ordered the Prosciutto di Parma pizza. I was actually quite excited to eat it because when the order came in, it was one good looking piece of pie! The crust was bubbly. Just the way I like it! I'm not a fan of thin crust pizzas or pan pizzas or project pie machine made pizza dough. This was the real deal. Hand made, I assume, with generous servings of prosciutto. Nothing fancy. Just excellent slices of meat on a perfectly crafted bed of pizza dough. After having that first bite, I knew right away that Motorino takes pride in the pizzas they make. Expect me to make a return visit. We need more of these simple and focused food places. This is also the very reason why my favorite Ramen place is still Yushoken of Alabang. Just keep things simple and treat food like it's a craft that must be perfected.

Together with Gino's, Motorino is the place where I've found the best authentic brick-oven-Napolitan-style pizza. The pizzeria - which is quite famous in New York, Brooklyn - has now a branch here in Manila. Ok, one can say it lacks charm once it's located inside a mall (Greenbelt 3 external food court). But the restaurant's interiors are so interesting, with the tin ceiling and industrial-looking light cages, that you can easily forget you are in a food court. I would say the vibe is really nice. And so is the food! The highlight here is definitely the wood-fired oven, all decorated in elegant black tiles with some white details that spell the restaurant's name. The big oven is there, inside the open kitchen, and it's just impossible not be hypnotised into it and check if your delicious pizza is already done. Motorino's pizzas are very tasty, by the way. I recommend the prosciutto di parma one. The ingredients are simple but sophisticated: fior di latte, prosciutto di parma, pecorino, arugula and olive oil. Although it's a little bit pricey compared with other pizzas in town, its delicacy and zest make you don't regret investing your money! Pair you pizza with a glass of the red wine Cantine Federiciane.

Italian food is easily found in Manila. Good Italian food, however, is a little harder to discover. That is, however, unless you're in Greenbelt 3 and drop by Motorino. This place likes to push its pizza, and for good reason. It uses a wood-fired brick oven, which gives a delicious char to the crust that makes it doubly delicious. The meatballs are excellent as well. If you're in the mood for a little tipple to go with your food, definitely spring for the recommended wine, which really does amplify the overall effect (it's slightly bubbly and sweet, but not overly so). Despite Motorino's polished interior, the overall ambience is quite casual, so shorts are a definite yes. People dressed to the nines wouldn't feel out of place, though. The tables are spaced comfortably apart, permitting normal conversation without much fear that the next table will overhead your expressed adoration and overtures. Smoking can be done outside. This is definitely a good date place if you're seeking something a little romantic than the usual, and it also fits the bill if you want a great dinner before watching a movie in the upstairs Greenbelt Cinema. A little on the expensive side (especially if you have the wine), but doubtlessly worth it.

Without any doubts, it's the best pizza in Manila, and probably the best I have ever tried outside of Italy.

So imagine how surprised I was to find that 3M Pizza still existed, and they actually kind of rebranded the entire business. Needless to say, the 3M Pizza of today tastes nothing like the 3M Pizza of 10 years ago, when I was a kid. And that's a really, really good thing, because I'm pretty sure that thanks to my fabulously discerning palette (lol, I really don't have one of these) I probably wouldn't like the cardboard again. So 3M Pizza now makes food that tastes distinctly like homemade, but surprisingly professional pizza. It's fairly cheap, with solo pizzas costing just P55 to P70 depending on the flavor, but worth the price. The pizza itself tastes really good. It's about as thick as a cracker with a nice crunch, and the toppings, cheese and tomato sauce are just right. The way that their graphics, boxes and food seems to present itself screams "we are the next generation of cheap homemade Filipino pizza" thanks to their flat design sensibility. So while it isn't exactly the same fond childhood memory, it's probably better than those memories. It's a pleasant surprise.

But then again, I just came from riding (and screaming on top of) the ferris wheel. When I was in Sherwood Place with a friend a couple of months ago, I was able to retry 3M Pizza. We tried the Supreme Pizza in medium and gosh were we wrong. We should have ordered the mega one since it's too good! For people who don't have an appetite like us, you could opt for the mini ones that would only cost around 55-90 pesos depending on the flavor. The best part? It's right beside Starr's. Order a pizza and a milkshake and you got yourself a wonderful cheat meal!

A nice open kitchen is the restaurant's highlight along with smell of fresh dough wafting through the air greets you. Doesn't hurt that their staff is very welcoming. Nice, clean and hip interiors give that KPop vibe. Okay, it's established this chain seems like a big deal in Korea but could their eccentric food combinations be a hit with the local palate? Turns out it does! The menu is very inventive. Would want to return and try out the different crust options like the sweet potato filled edge. Food was served fairly fast at 10 minutes even when the waiter said about 15-20 mins. The Bulgogi pizza had great dough. Not too dense, right amount of crisp and not yeasty nor oily. Oozing with cheese too! Asked for a bit of gochujang, really a good pairing. One regular sized pie does it for two hungry people. Another eyebrow raising dish was the Seafood kimchi oven baked spaghetti. I found it interesting. Think of your regular pomodoro loaded with flavor, more cheese and bounty of the sea. Really works. Ummm, skip the baked chicken. Can't wait to go back!

Last weekend, my wife and I walked over to Greenbelt to beat the summer afternoon heat. She noticed a sign that says a certain Mr. Pizza has open up in Greenbelt 3. A true blue pizza lover, my wife took my hand and wasted no time going to the place. At first, I had no idea that Mr. Pizza was a Korean pizzeria. But when we entered the brightly lit eating place and I saw this mesmerizing all-female K-Pop group dancing on the giant wall screen, plus all the staff shouting some unfamiliar greetings as they bowed down, I immediately realized Mr. Pizza is not a local brand. They have round leather-bound menus. Inside the menu pages, they have embedded the approximate sizes of their pizzas so customers know how big or small their orders will be when served. Very functional. We tried two of their pizzas. First, the Mr. Pizza Combo. This is their classic version, topped with crumbled meat, corn kernels, bacon, olives, and bell peppers. The second was the thin-crust Crab Cream. Now this was a literally sweet pizza. Apart from the shredded kani sticks, it's topped with sugar. Sweet tooths will love the Crab Cream pizza. Overall, Mr. Pizza was a unique experience for us. Next time, we'll try the Seafood Island 2 with real shrimp tempura and the Potato Gold, which came highly recommended by our attendant.
