We didn't sign up to do the boat ride but that is available and is a great way to extend your stay at the fort! The staff was all incredibly friendly understanding of children's needs. We couldn't ask for more with a family day out at a historical site! It was such a joy to enjoy! The gift shop had so many gems it could be very easy to end up with super cool toys Tshirts and yummy treats. Drive out slow and be ready to pull over to read the informative stones on the way out. Worth it!! Don't forget to check out mount defiance after visiting (otherwise it's $10 a car to check out) and on your way there there is a park with a beautiful waterfall to look at.

The visitor center was well kept. There was a 10 minute video, and so many items discovered from the war displayed neatly inside the museum. We took the green/Baldwin trail. On this beautiful cool breezy day, my daughter and I walked around and saw all the special locations marked along the trail. The trail was well kept. The views were stunning. Highly recommend!

All I have to say is Wow! Ok, maybe I have more to say. The employee representing Champlain Orchards was polite, knowledgeable and a hell of a salesman during the Gallery Walk. We ended up trying a few different types of ciders, but the Macintosh and Maple sealed the deal for us. It was so good that we returned to buy a few four packs and bottles. In the end, if you don't like super sweet hard ciders then this is the cider for you. It was crisp and delicious but not overly sweet.

We were able to get there for the Cider Garden to be open. Two flights got us a taste of almost all of the ciders! available. What a great variety. We ordered our flights and a couple bowls of soup at the counter, and found a seat in the garden. Surrounded by the orchards and flower gardens, this was a fantastic setting to sample ciders and have a bite. Soups were brought to us in the garden, and we really had a chance to enjoy the day. We stopped in the store to get a case of our favorite ciders to take home - and, of course, a couple fresh apple cider donuts for the road.

For 15 miles our raft of 7 plus Russ did a great job of guiding our boat through the rapids safely. Seriously, Adirondac does an excellent job and for $90/person it s a steal of a deal! We met at 9am, on the water by about 10am, lunch is provided, and you get off tbe water by about 3pm. They even stop at a big rock in the middle of the river that you can jump off of for no additional cost!
