The staff were welcoming and the building is lovely. They have a great sense of history in this building. Patrons were using the resources and socializing, making this a great public space. Even with lots of questions from different patrons, the staff were cheerful, easily handed off work and supported each other, and made sure everything worked like clockwork.

It's a nice break to walk around and maybe learn something about the history of Upstate New York while you're resting from zipping along on a superhighway. The marker reads, "The Holland Land Company was organized by six banking firms in the Netherlands to purchase the unsettled land of western New York State. Their agent, Theophile Cazenove, in 1792-93 bought more than three million acres, known as the Holland Purchase. It included the area west of the "Transit Line," located 13 miles east of here, from Lake Ontario to Pennsylvania. The purchase excluded a strip along the Niagara River and six reservations established for Indians. "Joseph Ellicott, the company's agent for more than 20 years, surveyed towns and planned roads and millsites. He laid out the city of Buffalo, promoted canal construction and dominated party politics in the area. "From its main office at Batavia, the company sold most of the purchase in 360-acre lots, exacting a small down payment. Many settlers faced difficulties in completing payments because of hardships in clearing the land and marketing farm products. Some disliked company policies and rioted against them in 1836. By 1837, the company had sold all its property. From the Holland Purchase, have been formed four counties and parts of four others, comprising 129 rural and suburban towns and 11 cities, which in 1960 had a population of more than 1,600,000." But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. Stop on by they have stuff for everyone!

While its definitely NOT the huge glass roofed facilities one finds in universities and big cities, its definitely a notable one of a kind place all it's own that I'm personally quite fond of. The staff is kind, helpful and polite and all in all this library offers incredible value to the community.

The lobby area is super convenient and customer friendly, open 24 hours a day, very clean and lots of counter top space to prepare packages to ship. There is a self service station that allows you to ship mail or packages any time day or night, with out the hassle of standing in line. You can also purchase stamps and shipping materials here. The window service area is open m-f 8:30-5 and on Saturdays 8:30-12. Great service and they always seem to have specialty stamps exspacilly during the holiday season.

This location is accessible throughout the day for package drop offs inside the building and easy drop off of letters outside. It's a well-maintained little building on the corner that's bright, clean, stocked, and never crowded. I sure hope not, because I value our neighborhood post office, I use it regularly, and I am grateful to the staff that provide such great service!
