We travelled 158 miles away from the heart of LONDON not knowing what it was going to be. We were very astonished as to how EXACTLY as how we expected the hotel was to be. We stayed at the THERMAE SPA SUITE located on the 2nd Floor and oh my! It was a wonderful stay. Spacious room with a fluffly settee and wide glass made Bed. The bathroom. WHAT A DELIGHT. It was very clean and had a glass made bath tub. The sauna room was very easy to use. It had a "MR. MRS." feel to it. Overall the whole stay made my partner and myself feel the most cleanliest people living on earth! we bath and washed and relax almost 5 times within 1 night there! WONDERFUL! read more

Well, what an odd place. Like others have said, this is a very strange hotel. On the one hand the room was huge with two excellent chaise longue converting sofas, good ipod docking music/alarm station, reasonable TV, lots of big mirrors and large bathroom. There were some excellent private lounge rooms near the bar and large open areas with many leather sofas. The Restuarant looked good albeit a little expensive, though we didn't eat dinner there on our visit - but the breakfast was excellent in both food and service terms. On the other hand the toilet paper is a rubbish dispenser, there is fake wood effect flooring and fake marble plastic walls, plus the most terrible cocktails we ever experienced. In fact the 'cocktail experience' was especially special... The barman who created our jug was working from the folder of instructions, doing half measures all the way and then discovered he didn't have all the ingredients at the last item (orgreat, which he obviously didn't know what it was)... After pouring a glass to taste, we negotiated an alternative (basic sugar syrup), he then proceeded to throw away the first glass and replaced it from our jug. So we were one glass down on our incomplete, poorly made cocktail before we started. Then he said 'thanks gentlemen' as my girlfriend a I left the bar. Awesome stuff! We were lost for words. As a seasoned Best Western user this is 1 of only 5 Premier BW hotels in the UK. We got there late in the evening so no dinner to review but the room was huge and had a sofa and large TV. A large bathroom with both bath and shower, all well decorated. The bed was kingsize and comfortable. With complimentary newspaper under my arm we went to breakfast. Plenty of cereals but fruits and pastries could have been a wider choice, the full English was very good though. All in all to be recommended and phoning to book the room got a better price than the web-site offered. X = You've gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they're doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here! read more

Wonderful hotel with friendly members of staff. Was not able to sample the food, however, the room was very large, well equipped (large tv, amp, blu-ray player, mini fridge, ipod-dock radio/alarm etc) and immaculately clean. Like others, I found the décor to be conflicting. In our spa suite, the room had a very 60's feel to it, while the bathroom was very futuristic. Although baffling, it grows on you soon enough. Overall, a good hotel. Some questionable styling choices, but it was an enjoyable stay. read more

I've been to the Mt Pleasant twice - once was great, the other was rubbish! Never stayed overnight though, so can't say anything about the rooms. The good experience was a friend's wedding - it was a fairly small affair, but everything was beautiful and the bride & groom couldn't praise them highly enough. The rubbish one was a Christmas party night. Cold turkey, quite literally. The usual obligatory shoddy DJ playing Cone On Eileen and YMCA while you nearly collapse in shock every time you have to buy a round. We had a good night, but that was really despite the surroundings rather than because of them. It's a shame that for a hotel of this size and prestige there's no gym or leisure facilities - all the ads for Wellbeing etc only refer to a beauty salon. It's just a few minutes from the airport so handy for that, and not far from Bawtry or Doncaster. I'd recommend it, but not too highly. read more

I have been several times to the mount pleasant hotel,its rated as four star and i think it deserves it,well you have to earn the stars and they are not given away you have to prove your worth,The food in the restaurant i found to be of very good standard and very good service,the surroundings are of a country house and are reflected quite well i think.Prices are a little high,but 4 stars warrants the charge..ther are 3 stars in doncaster if you want cheaper and 2stars if thats what you want. We spent Boxing day lunch at the hotel at £35.00 per head,it was only a glorified sunday lunch but we enjoyed it thoroughly. i would recomend it to anyone who wants a nice place to be with nice people and enjoy the ambience. read more

I'm having a tough time with this one, waffling between a 1 and 2 ... a 2, not because I would stay there again, but because I'm so completely perplexed by this place that I'm sort of intrigued. First of all, somehow it's been given a 4 star rating. Sure, from the website, it looks like it certainly could be. But it's a Best Western... which in my experience is never above a 3. On the surface, it's a nice place. Though, the outside decor is a little of the mini-golf persuasion (fountains, little windmills and gazebos? oh my). The interior is a mix of modern, donald trump and grandma's living room... chintz, floral, gold and glass... hmmm. The rooms? Well, ours had a water bed. YES PEOPLE. A WATER BED. it was like I had died and gone to 70s motel heaven. It was WEIRD (and the most uncomfortable sleep I may have ever had). Though the rooms were clean and tidy (along with chintzy and oddly decorated), the bathrooms were yet another oxymoron with cheap plastic shower stall, vinyl flooring and-- hold onto your horses, a toilet paper dispense (yes-- like you'd see in a truck stop). Yet, the walls were tiled with lovely marble tiles. Huh?? Somehow, though through nothing visible, this room gave me the heebie jeebies. I was happy we'd arrived at midnight and were checking out at 8 am. Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh... but I won't be rushing back to this place anytime soon. Definitely not worth the money (or 4 star rating on their website). Water bed. Need I say more??? read more

Good quality food if a little on the expensive side - although nice for a special occasion.This is a good quality hotel situated on the outskirts of Doncaster.There is a small bar area where you can sit and order your food.The dining area itself is quite plush, the tables are well spaced so if you want a quiet meal for just the two of you this could be the place to go for.A good menu selection and also a good range of specials too.Deserts are hard to resist. read more

Really lovely place to eat whether that be in the main restaurant or the Bar (which is almost as good as the restaurant to be fair) the food is lovely and cooked really well. It is a little on the pricey side, but you don't mind paying it when the food, surroundings and service are as good as this, well worth a try. read more
