If you're part of the insurance-less or the limited insurance masses from our country's wonderful love of things with low Return on Investment (ROI) like wars, drug wars, or raising taxes on the right and hatred of things with a high ROI like health care, education, etc. then this place is convenient. Spell out what your insurance does and does not cover. They are a business and are concerned for you so may run a test you feel unnecessary then may have sticker shock afterwards. We had an amazing experience here. We are new parents and had an especially stressful first month with our son - worries about weight gain and other health issues. Dr. Reich - who I also went to for my postpartum appt. - is personable, knowledgable and reassuring - and Dr. Enschede and Dr. Sacher stopped by for most of our follow ups to make sure all was well with our son. When we had a question about how to use a medication we got a call back within an hour. I like the relaxed and collaborative feel of our visits and they've been incredibly patient - we never feel rushed. My husband and I are making them our primary care providers because we've been so impressed with the care we've received. read more

This is the most terrible, ridiculous walk in clinic I've ever experienced. I called ahead to ask if I could come in as a walk in- after arriving and filling out my paper work I was told I could not be seen because all the doctors will be going to lunch from 12-1. I was told on the phone that if I got there before 11:30 I could be seen. Needless to say, left and returned at 2pm only to WAIT FOR 2 MORE HOURS!! My 'doctor' did not see me til 4 pm in which my 'prescription' was that I should drink warm tea with honey and lemon and gargle with salt water... So after I wasted a whole day off and a $40 copay I have nothing to show for it except that I'll probably be even more sick in a few weeks. This place is BS- don't go. read more

first time i came with appt. Took over 2 hours when said and done. 2nd time, was told walk-ins start at 1. I was the first one there. It took 45 min to be seen. Then I had to take urine test. While doing so, the dr moved on to the next room to see another patient. She comes back and cant give me my test results so will text or call me. Never heard a word. Left mssg with answering service on Sat. Still no word. Wouldnt recommend. Its a shame considering so close, accepts my insurance and new facility but who has time for this BS!!!!?? read more

I am a regular patient of Beth Israel Medical Group on 34th street and have been pretty happy with the services and doctors. I recently tried to go to the walk-in clinic and called ahead to make sure they were open. They told me they were taking patients until 4pm that day. When I arrived at 10:30 am, the receptionist told me that they were not taking clients until 1. When I told her I had called ahead she insisted that she had told me on the phone. She did not and did not appreciate being accused of lying. It was a huge inconvenience to come especially when I was sick but luckily I went across the street to the City MD where I was seen almost immediately. I would recommend City MD instead. They were more professional. read more

I am surprised to see any negative reviews of this place. I've never had any trouble making an appointment with Dr. Enschede after work, or being seen when I had an urgent need. I've also never waited an inordinate amount of time. I can be an anxious person, especially about medical issues, and Dr. Enschede is always calming without being condescending. She takes ample time to answer my questions, and never criticizes me for doing outside research, an experience I've had with other doctors in the past. She even went out of her way to help me do some extra research, calling me a few weeks after my appointment with some additional information I wanted about my issue. I only wish I could see Dr. E for every health need! Can she start delivering babies and cleaning teeth? read more

I really like Dr. Enschede, but unfortunately this office leaves a lot to be desired. They are constantly booked to the gills, despite being a "walk-in," and it's impossible to get an appointment even when you have an emergency, which seems negligent. They leave you on hold forever, then ask you again why you called in an incoherent manner. The scheduling here is a major issue. I don't put that on the doctors, it's entirely a staffing issue and I get it no one wants to stay at work late, but get it together, you are dealing with sick people. read more

The front desk staff very rarely answers the phone. When you call you are put through to an answering service, and then often you are not called back until the following day (if ever). That being said they have wonderful doctors! Before you come here, I would suggest calling to try to make an appointment so you can get the vibe. read more

Like what everyone is saying below, they have fantastic doctors (Dr. Sacher is awesome), but are terrible on all other fronts. I was slapped with a rather large insurance bill after a recent annual check up, and spent a month trying to get in touch with someone at the front desk but ran into the same answering service people like the others. Finally reached someone who said they are very short staffed (really, I couldn't tell), who told me she couldn't do anything unless I brought my bill in. Sad thing is that I like my doctor so I'll probably stay, but with the assumption that something will always be screwed up here. read more

The only reason I even gave them two star is because I like my doctor (dr. shimelfarb). The problem is the service is horrible - the front desk is unorganized and they NEVER answer the phone. The answering service they employee doesn't even know their hours and that they work late on Mondays and Wednesdays. They say they will give the front desk the message but either they never do or the people at the front desk choose to ignore them because I have never received a call back from leaving a message. read more

Just an update on this - my billing issue has still not been resolved. I've called them pretty much weekly and tried to get their billing department to work with my insurance to no avail. In addition to that I found out that they incorrectly billed me for a deductible that I didnt have to actually pay. Now I have to call a separate department for labwork and try and get a refund so I can apply that refund to a separate medical bill (for my actual surgery that this was prelim work for). Nobody should ever have to jump through all these hoops to get healthcare and although I'd love to blame the "system" I've only ever had this issue with Mount Sinai Beth Israel and this specific office. Look elsewhere for any healthcare. read more

I am so happy with my family doc that I have no hesitation in recommending this office to friends. Dr. Enschede always takes the time to hear my concerns, takes them seriously and then offers clear advice/ recommendations. The other docs I have seen here for sick visits are equally as kind and competent. I like being able to communicate via the portal and get results quicker. The office staff are fantastic, friendly and professional. I rarely need to wait long, even with last minute appointments. I feel very well taken care of here. read more

Have been to the 34th office multiple times. Moved to Brooklyn and thinking I had strep I walked to this location. The website says no appointment no problem. Well I walk in and say that I'm a walk in. And I was greeted with a "no". We looked at each other and I finally said what does that mean. She said they only do same day appointments. That's strange as that hasn't been my experience with them or what their site says. She didn't offer to check if she could book one of those necessary same day appointments. So I turn around stunned at how a medical "professional" would treat someone in need. I see a city md across the street and ask if they take walk ins. One of her coworkers said yes. I said that would have been helpful to know. Never coming back here and wouldn't recommend it at all. However city md has been amazing. read more

One star for one of the worst front desk staff. Called today to try to change my appointment. Told to hold. Waited for almost 4 minutes when someone else picked up my call again to ask to wait for one more minute. Which I did. 10 minutes into the same cal, the line just cut off. Ended. Called back twice and twice, it said I will be transferred to an operator. Twice, I didn't get transferred to any operator or anybody. I still didn't get to speak with anyone. But I love Dr Mandy Sacher. read more

Overall I had a very good experience. I walked in at 8am and was out of there by 9:15am. I met with Dr. Shimmelfarb who had a holistic approach. She offered me several homeopathic remedies for my cough rather than pushing to give me an antibiotic. The facility is new and quite nice. It felt clean and seemed to have a lot of exam rooms to accommodate patients. While I wouldnt make this office my primary care provider, I definitely would go there the next time I feel sick, rather than schlepping to my PCP in Manhattan. read more

I like how this is a real family practice. My husband, my daughter and I all go to the doctor here, which is really convenient! The staff is really calm, polite, and knowledgeable and the doctors are smart and friendly. And I think I am supported in the medical decisions I make for myself (some doctors are nervous about women who choose to have a home birth). I don't feel anonymous when we go to appointments, and when we've needed to go to a specialist (dermatologist and pediatric audiologist) we liked those doctors too. read more

i actually liked the facility and the doctors when i'm able to see them, but the issues i've had at this center outweigh the good. first of all, they NEVER call back. a message was left on my voicemail that i should call back to talk about test results and I couldn't get them on the phone for 3 days--calling 4 times a day. the receptionist always tells me how busy the center is that day! seriously, dont accept new patients if you can't find the time to call them back. i have pretty minor medical issues. theyre not that complicated. this shouldn't be such a big deal. the biggest problem i've had is that twice they have requested tests and twice they've called me back to tell me that everything came back normal until i showed up at the facility for an unrelated problem months later for them to tell me that my test results had actually come back abnormal. they said that since there were "complications" with the initial test, they were going to order it again. they called to tell me everything turned out great and then weeks later told me that the test results came back abnormal. i just received a bill for the second test and i can't get anyone on the phone in billing to tell them why i won't be paying for it. the anxiety this creates has been overwhelming and i'm looking for a new doctor at this point. read more

I saw Dr. Sacher yesterday when I was having an extreme allergic reaction. As soon as I walked in to the clinic, it was clear something was wrong (my eyes were swollen shut), so they put me in a room and treated me immediately before transferring me to the ER. Dr. Sacher was nice, she was clear about what she was doing and why she was doing it, and called me at 8pm to check in and make sure I was okay. read more

I was feeling really sick and wanted to see a doc in the hood for a rapid strep test. I called the Beth Israel clinic around 3pm and asked what the latest I could come in for a walk-in appt was, and I was told 6:30pm ( they are open til 8pm). I dragged myself out of bed, feverish and out of it and got there by 6:30pm. I was then told by the receptionist they were not taking any more patients that day and that i should go to the ER. It was a huge waste of time and took all my energy to get there and back home. Receptionists were extremely UNHELPFUL. read more

I hate this place. Not only did they miss the fact that I had THE FLU while I was pregnant, they are nearly impossible to make an appt. with and get in touch with at all. City MD is across the street and provides way better service and courtesy. It's too bad I need a PCP because of my insurance and can't use City MD for everything. Horrible experience. I brought my 5 month old for an appointment today and they made us wait for 45 minutes. The doctor gave me referral who turned out to be a doctor with a totally different speciality. I called her back but she did not even return my call. I made an appointment with a specific doctor 3 weeks in advance and I called to confirm 3 days before my appointment. When I came in they asked me which doctor I was there to see. I specified who I came for and they said that my doctor will be with me shortly. After two (yes, two!) hours of wait a different doctor comes in and says that she will be the one taking care of me. When I refused she said that my doctor is not in today because she is off at some training. They made me wait for two hours to tell me that! And they also were trying to switch doctors on me without even telling me. They wasted three hours of my time and did not even apologize for it. All manager said was "it is not my fault". Really? I am never coming back. read more

This is a new practice and I haven't been there yet but I saw Dr. MARIANA SHIMMELFARB at the BI medical group on 5th ave. As a nurse I can tell you she is negligent and not thorough and either lazy or not that smart. I saw her for pain in low back with bladder pain, pain with urination, nausea and slight fever. She didn't do a physical exam or a urine test and said it was probably just a virus. I had to insist on a urine test which she did begrudgingly which showed blood in my urine and gave me antibiotics which I took for several days with no relief from symptoms. I had to call the on-call doc on the weekend who wanted to know if a urine culture was done and I said no and that I had to insist myself on at least a urinalysis. When I left that practice as my primary care and asked for all my records I received them and the computer physical exam form was completely filled out including the rectal exam which said. "NORMAL". This is fraudulent."deferred" is the word you use when the exam is not performed. I would be alert if you go to this MD for symptoms. Ask for a physical exam and how she came to her diagnosis if she gives you one and if you are not satisfied insist on appropriate tests or another doctor's opinion. read more

i could never recommend dr reich nor this office. they are so unorganized and unreliable. it was a major hassle to get the team there to get the pre-authorization needed from my insurance for my referral. it seemed like no one knew what they were doing and no one communicated. they would keep telling me they processed it but when i called my insurance, they never did, i had to keep calling almost everyday for over 2 weeks to finally get things done right. it's just a mess dealing with this office and a headache. my results came in and no word from the doctor. i email her about them, still no word. i had to complain to get her to respond. she tells me she mailed my results, i don't receive it until 2 weeks later and they were just mailed out, not when she told me she mailed it 2 weeks prior. never got the referral in the mail she claimed she would mail me. just totally irresponsible and unprofessional. i want nothing more to do with this office and doctor. read more
