I just wanted to thank all the nurses that were there for my wife's pregnancy. Especially some nurses that were so awesome towards her and knew how to be supportive and kind and knowing how to be so caring with patients. Some of them i seen there names tags and some I couldn't . One was name Sandra she was awesome all night , the other one I couldn't see her name but she was a very outgoing and very friendly nurse that show how a really nurse could be and act I should know my mom was a nurse for 40 years so I know how they need to take care of their patients. All I know she was a kinda short filipina nurse she was so awesome god bless her always. Also all the ones I didn't name thank you a lot. Dirty hospital and unprofessional! Sick people in the hallways, no masks, people sleeping in the halls snoring with their mouth open (with Covid cases rising on and off you'd think at least the medical staff would wear masks). Apparently the emergency room only has one entrance, shame considering this high crime area. A trauma came in so they wouldn't let me in to attend to my minor son who was brought in by ambulance from school. The drs were waiting for me, because he needs surgery, but they don't operate minors. After finding the right person who took me all the way around to get me to my son, I'm finally with him. His alarms are going off, and he's in a lot of pain, his iv is bleeding, the blood pressure cuff is over his iv while it's bleeding, but the staff that's doing nothing is telling me that all the nurses are busy with the trauma that came in. Yet this hospital is crowded with patients and they're short staff. I can't stress enough how filthy and inadequate this hospital er is! I can't imagine how many patients come here in life or death situations and don't receive the appropriate care. Thank God my son's condition was not that! What about patient privacy?! The rooms are just curtains and everyone can hear everyone's business! There is also no button to push to call a nurse not even in an emergency! I gave them one star, for at least calling me to get verbal consent to start his car (X-rays, pain meds), and the drs were nice. read more

List of theirs misdeeds to my wife who is theits patinet for long period of time is so long that it's impossible to enlist in this space. My wifw is being treated for Trombocytemia for more than yeat and half. Care provided by Dr. Sharma was appreciated and helpful. unfortunately, it cant be said for her office workers. Wrong appointments, canceled appointments without any notice in advance hapend 3 times. We came to Clinic just to be sent home on roundtrip of 16 miles. Possibility to reach department by phone is close to nonexisting. no one is picking the phone and massages lefr on answer machine are never ever answered in multiple situations. to reach anybody to talk to is absolutely imposible. Even the person who poresented herself as manager didn't keep her word and massed up with scheduling of appointment. In one occasion when I managed, afrer more than one month of trying to reach the woman on the phone she was very roud telling me that I have to carry my phone even under the shover when I'm expecting phone call for phone visit. And all of that after I misse the call that was placed 32 minutes before the time of apponitment and never repeted. When I tried to call back, no one picked up til half an hour after the time of appoinmet and I was said that at that time doctor is not available any more. At the end, it happend that office scheduled appoinment with wrong doctor ( Dr. Kolsha) and not with Dr. Sharma. I'm 27 years with Mt. Sinai Hospital, but after this terrible inhumane behaviour and lach of respect for the basic human decensy, I'm, with my family, leaving Mt. Sinai Hospital Oncology/Hematology Clinic for good. I have a bump on the back of my head in almost the middle of my head and the doctor compared the other side but instead of comparing it with the same spot he compared it with the back of my ear which made no sense at all and ofc is gonna feel like a bump bc thats what the back of the ear feels like regularly. He tried his best not to check what it is even tho i told him i get a cold feeling from the back of my head going down my spine, headaches and the bump feels like a bone, not a cyst or a muscle and thats what my clinic doctor had told me, on top of alot more symptoms like hot flashes after the cold feeling, my head feeling horribly heavy. HORRIBLE!!! They try their best not to treat you at all unless u make a scene. I brought my elderly parent in to the local Mt Sinai Emergency Room last week and am so grateful for the care and attention she was given by everyone on the Staff, despite an incredibly busy ER night. Sadly, I have all too much experience bringing family members into different ERs in both Manhattan and Queens over the last two decades. Mt. Sinai was well organized, clean and much more efficient than I would have expected. It was also surprisingly quiet for an ER room except for the odd specific cases/interruptions/emergencies. Most quiet ER I have ever been in which makes a huge difference in one's experience. Everyone from the ambulance drivers to the nurse at the intake desk to the nurses, doctor and CAT/X-ray techs who cared for my Mother (she was there over the course of two shifts), was kind and efficient. It always takes some time in an ER because your family member may not be the most critical but I never felt ignored or overly delayed. I want to especially call out an evening shift nurse named Camille and Dr. MacDonald, who both cared for my Mother and helped discharge her. Also the CAT and Xray technicians (whose names I don't know and whose service was conveniently located on the same floor as the ER (not so in many hospitals)), were incredibly kind with my parent who has dementia and was in some pain. I also noticed how well they cared for other patients and interacted with other caregivers, despite some very challenging patients and difficult health conditions. Thank you. read more

The new clinic on Washtenaw is fairly nice. The old hospital building is just that, old. Even though some areas are newer like registration, radiology, and the cafeteria, many other areas like the ER, patient rooms, and most heating and air conditioning are in serious need of help. I've found if you treat the employees with respect that you'll get it in return. But most of them don't take crap and can turn on you like a rabid dog! The cafeteria is pretty modern and open fairly long hours with a vending area next to it. There is a Subway sub shop, Connie's Pizza, and an Italian and burger sections much like a food court. There is a good amount of seating but right at 12pm it gets a bit tight. There is a good amount of security. All unlocked exterior doors have a security person nearby and there are a few security stations in various places on the first floor. The multilevel parking deck is pretty big and I've never seen it at capacity but sometimes you do need to park on the fifth or sixth floor. Patients and visitors get discounted parking and any stay less than five hours is just $2 with a validation ticket. The ER is not a happy place and is why I removed a star. The wait can be awful. Go on a Friday or Saturday evening and you could easily wait six hours just to get to see a doctor. Then the wait for labs or radiology is even worse. I'd suggest not going here for your ER service. In all the place is OK for a very busy urban hospital. Had they done a better job repairing things, fixing the air conditioning, and managing the ER this has the ability to be a four or five star hospital. read more

Horrible Experience in trying to get a gynecology surgery. After bleeding heavily daily for months with pain and fatigue due to a fibroid diagnosed in the ER, they kept pushing back my transvaginal surgery. When I finally made it into the OR I was waiting for over 8 hours only to not have my surgery. Some workers were amazing, and so kind, trying so hard to help me, but some were incredibly inappropriate, telling me their personal problems or ripping open part of my gown without warning. I was admitted overnight and again waited most of the day fasting to once again not get my surgery. Then it took months to get back on track, and then they wanted to redo my ultrasound because by now Id been waiting six months for this surgery (partly due to earlier issues before Sinai, to be fair). They, knowing how bad my case was, dated my ultrasound for NOVEMBER (in August!). When I tried to plead my case, I was sent from a clinic who said to call scheduling to a very rude woman at scheduling who said to call back the clinic. When I got caught in a phone loop, on hold, and so on, it was the last straw, and I gave up. Also the food is crappy. The room is ok but being in a women's ward with so much stuff about babies could be upsetting for women like me with these issues (that can cause infertility) or a miscarriage. I feel sorry for the workers there who care because they deserve better too, but most of all, we do as patients - women included! read more

The service was slow and mediocre but not worse than what i would expect from any other hospital. What really shocked me was that I waited 1 hour there after my appointment just so I could pay my bill upfront, then almost 3 months later I get a letter saying my bill was 'SEVERELY OVERDUE' and I got charged over $200 on top of what I had paid and more than what I had asked multiple times that I owed. I called them and a lady named Felicia quickly and courteously resolved the issue but what if I didn't argue my bill? Moreover, when I inquired why I would get this extra charge, I was told firmly that it was corrected. I did not want to push my luck so I didn't continue the line. This reeks of scam and there's no recourse. If they just decided to say 'no, we'll charge you what we feel like', there would really be nothing I could do about it lest I sacrifice my good credit. I was lucky to have my issue resolved (I hope we'll see in another few months if i get another bill) but I wonder if there are any consumer protection groups out there to at least discourage this kind activity. Regardless, word of advice, don't trust your bill. Always contest anything suspicious. read more

This is a review of the OUTPATIENT SURGERY CLINIC ONLY. I give this hospital a 5star because the Preop nursing staff, Anesthesiologist and our Surgeon Dr. Rossi were all excellent. The place is a little outdated but otherwise, the service is great. From the check-in/registration to the PACU staff. I was very worried reading the reviews but you will never know until you go there. I was very surprised how clean the hospital was, staff were all friendly and compassionate. We were referred here to see a pediatric specialist, Dr. Priya Khanna. She is fantastic and truly cares about her patients. However, her support staff is unsanitary. The first gal who drew blood from my baby didn't bother to wear gloves, even though there was a box in front of her. And she couldnt even find the vein. The second guy found the vein (I had to come back) but both had a habit of putting the end piece of the blood-drawing instrument in their mouths, as if their two hands weren't enough. I'm not trained in the medical field and I wonder if the staff is based on the four times I was there. In addition, the conditions are poor. They are so unorganized it is sad. They called me to re-schedule and I showed up today for our appt. After being directed to a third building (we had to cross a busy st to get over there I might add) I was told the dr was not in and the manager had left me a message. Which is not true. They didn't bother to apologize about me having to drag my baby out in the cold and wasting my time. They simply asked me to re-schedule again. I said "this place is a joke" and left. So I left feeling hopeless and out a few bucks wasted on parking. Avoid this dirty, unorganized, sad facility at all costs. read more

Went to The ER by ambulance after bad fall on head, needed stitches and had a concussion.The person who stitched me up was very nice, went the distance to make sure I had no pain while being stitched. Just told to keep the stitches covered and not get them wet and to come back in 5 days to have them removed, and to take ibuprofen for pain. Also was given a release to go to work the next day, only thing is I trashed my glasses when I fell and cannot see without them, my eye was also swollen shut. Had to explain to another doctor about sight. When I went to have the stitches removed, was told to come at 10, when I got there was told that they did not open until 11, then the nurse complained that I had not removed the gauze (I was never told to remove the gauze), I did not even wash my hair for 5 days for fear of getting the stitches wet. She just ripped the tape and gauze off, freaked me out. So got the stitches out but was not really told what to expect, only given a single sheet saying to wash the wound and put antibiotic cream on it. And given several printed pages about other places I could contact.So I kept it clean and used antibiotic cream each time I washed it, a few months later my brow ridge is still swollen and the scar is so tight I can hardly move my eyebrow. When I went to my regular doctor (I had seen him after it happened, I told him that I had a CT and was told that nothing was broken). He looked at the scar and said that I had infected keloids. He also told me to put moisturizer on the scar to help loosen it up. So now I have just finished a course of antibiotics. But no-one at the hospital told me that this could happen, I felt that they just wanted me to get stitched up and leave, then get the stitches out and leave again. The room that you waited in for stitches removal had used swabs, bandages and such on the floor. After a while a woman came in and cleaned, but the waiting room was not clean when first opened. read more

I've only had good experiences the times I've been here or even speaking to staff on the phone. The staff is friendly, considerate, and educational and listens to my concerns and I never feel like I'm here longer then I need to be which is nice. Whenever I need to get a hold of my doctor, I'm contacted back within a reasonable time as well and the staff does a good job of transferring me over to who I need to speak to. I'm generally a bit phobic of doctors and hospitals so am grateful for a positive experience. read more

I am writing because I am very upset with the disrespectful treatment received at your Chicago location. My family and I were experiencing grief due to the impending loss of our beloved sister. On August 15, 2019, after being accommodated by head nurse Candice, who was on duty at the time, we were assigned a designated area for our family to gather and wait, allowing only two visitors at a time to enter the room of our family member. During the early evening we are suddenly confronted by 4-5 Security officers, who rudely began insisting that we exit the area and proceed to the main lobby. They were rude, intimidating, and aggressive without any provocation from us. We tried to explain the situation but they refused to hear us. This kind of treatment towards grieving families is unacceptable! We have never before been so violated and disrespected during a time as sensitive as the one we were dealing with. Your security staff needs to be educated in the area of sensitivity and respect in such matters. I couldn't believe what we were being subjected to, even the main lobby security officer was insensitive and refusing access to family members. Evidently they weren't properly informed as to how to handle the situation. This needs improvement and my family and I are due a formal apology in regards to what we endured. My brother was admitted to this hospital for 5 days in serious condition and was treated like a real human being. He was given a different nurse every day (Dominique, Fred, Zinnia and Donnielle) and all of them provided exceptional service to my brother. When my brother became agitated and confused about where he was, the hospital assigned him a room sitter. He was assigned a sitter for 3 days (Tonia, Jacklina, Donna, Amarijah). I was so impressed by my experience with the staff, I approached the charge nurse Lauren, and told her what I thought of her staff and how my overall experience at this hospital was so positive. The employees openly spoke to you without provocation. They were very responsive to my brother's needs. The doctors were all knowledgeable and caring about the health of my brother. His situation improved quickly because of the care he received. There was never a time where money or insurance was a topic of my conversations with any of the doctors or staff. I wish my experience with all hospitals were like Mt. Sinai of Chicago. read more

I just came from Mount Sinai Hospital ,I had been unable to eat or drink anything since June 16, 2019 everything would come back up so I saw Dr Benjamin Levy ,Who was beyond amazing that escorted my mom and I to triage to get setup ,And take a bunch of tests to find out what was wrong with me I then met Laura and Cindy, Two awesomely amazing nurses that went above and beyond to make sure that I was ok, And comfortable, We take so many simple things in life for granted like being able to drink a glass of water or eat a sandwich, I'm beyond blessed to have these people at Mount Sinai to help me during my aches and pains, And I just wanted to say thank you guys for being so awesomely amazing Mount Sinai will always be my hospital of choice!! read more

On April 4, 2015, my grandson fell, hit his head and became unresponsive. (He is 4 years old and a special needs child, with a trach and a g-tube) My husband rushed him to the nearest hospital, which happened to be Mt Sinai. As he tried to enter the emergency room, carrying an unconscious child, he was stopped by security guards, who informed him that nothing would be done for Sean until after my husband filled out "necessary insurance information". We left and took Sean to Strogers. The staff here was rude and didn't care that Sean was unconscious for about 20 minutes. Not at all professional. Will NEVER go back there and thank god that Sean will be ok in spite of his treatment, or lack of, at Mt Sinai. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my toddler there for an appointment and it was disgusting. I'm talking physically disgusting. We walked into the room and there was used medical equipment all over the floor. Tongue depressors, tips that cover the scope to look into ears, bent up paper clips, and just over all dirty. I literally covered my son in hand sanitizer until I could get him home for a bath. The Drs were stepping on the stuff. They had to have known it was there! Then the Dr looked into my child's ears and put the instrument back into its holder on the wall with the plastic cover still on it after he was fishing around in my sons ear with it! I'll never step foot back into that place. Not only was it disgusting, the Dr wouldn't let me get a word in. I had multiple questions I tried to ask but he kept cutting me off constantly. He had a medical student in the room with him and it was literally like he was talking to the student instead of my wife and I and then when he was done saying what he had to say, he left the room in a hurry. I left the hospital in utter shock and literally already knew what he said. We went to find out more of a solution to my child's ongoing problem that we were treating with an over the counter temporary solution. His answer was to keep doing that. Even though the over the counter medicine says right on the label "Do not use for more than 7 days." I literally drove 45 minutes to be told absolutely nothing. I'm looking for a new Dr that will actually do something about my child's ongoing issue instead of paying for an office visit to be a subject for the Dr to teach a student something instead of actually helping my child. I left the hospital knowing less than I did when I walked in and have to pay for it on top of that?!?. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! read more

My daughter was born here(not proud of that) knowing how this hospital sucks. I was always next too my wife cheering for her, we write the documents for our daughter saying shes the mother and I'm the father. When we recieve my daughters birth certificate my name was not there. I was mad, every nurse that helped us saw me everyday and Saw me cheering for my wife. I even signed a certification that said I'm the father. Like these nurses are either idiots or just didn't give a crap and input whatever. They thought I was some random guy just being there for no reason? I knew from the beggining something will go wrong and I was correct. I now have good insurance too choose my own hospital, where employees give a shit. Not the end of the world but now I have to send papers too change my daughters birth certificate which takes time. This hospital is the worst ever!! I will never ever recommend this horrible hospital. If I could rate them less zero I would!! My brother went in for a pain on the back. They told me he may have TB, May have cancer. May have ammonia etc!! I talked with him everyday and on a weds and he said he was tired and to call later and by Saturday I received a very unprofessional phone call from a resident doctor that his organs are shutting down and he is going to pass away. She even stated that if that was her family member she will not have him suffer. Guess what folks...My only brother passed away!! Like how in the hell this happed in such a short time!! He went in on June 19, 2021 and passed away June 26, 2021. They kept calling asking if I want him in hospice and that they can not give him dialysis even though I told them to give him that treatment. He was in the hospital for 7 days!! I think Sinai does it's best with people that come in with a lot of issues. I have been a social worker here for years (Not just pediatric, lol), that lady was crazy! I give major kudos for the on the spot work, caring and follow up that all the Sinai caregivers give, with a needy patient population, and non-adherence all around us, it is difficult to help people like the PP person, but, we do our best, like pay for their cabs, give them free orthopedic surgery, and follow up, as well as resources in the community to help them out! A free hospital would have been Stroger, but I guess even hating it PP kept coming back for more! read more

wish i could give this no stars, first off they don't know their own policies. One person says one thing, someone else says another, it's ridiculous. Also we were told at 12pm we were going to get a test done for a loved one, at 5pm we were told it won't be done till tomorrow (and that we were told that from the beginning and we weren't). one receptionist was very nice, others not so much. it's dirty and grimy and gross everywhere. not an ideal place to bring loved ones. if you can go somewhere else if you have the time. very very unsatisfied. NURSES are rude and disrespectful to patients. loved one was laying in the bed and they were throwing stuff all over the bed and being anything BUT gentle. They gave us the wrong paper saying he was 45 years old and 90lb when none of those are remotely close to him and the paperwork to what happened was wrong. never want to step foot in here again. read more

HORRIBLE HOSPITAL- nurses do not care for their patients. They take very long to respond to patients needs leaving them in pain and longing for their medication. Yes, I understand they must have tons of patients to care for but not responding to a patient in an incredible amount of pain for almost an hour is simply unacceptable.
