The interior is equally pared down and geometric, but the exposed timber makes for a warmer "Northwest" ambience. I'm not sure how this is conducive to a meditative, if not religious or spiritual experience (there is a walking path "maze" in the small adjacent grounds facing 1st Avenue N, exposed to traffic noise from three close-by streets). I've been tempted to attend a Sunday service but have only been here for a recital as well as historical tour. The older building annex is even more a vestige. Both seem to be "lost" as demolition of single-unit homes continues at an ever increasing pace.

Unfortunately, even though you are a Bible believing, God preaching church, when it comes to supporting your members, you are sorely lacking. You see, my best friend IS a member of this church, and her mother recently passed away. She is exhausted after the long illness her mother had, and she was the primary caregiver, night and day. What I don't understand, is why, when she reached out to the Women's Pastor for support the only response was "I'll pray for you". What has happened to the church in this day and age? The only person who has offered any kind of support, and even a meal is a neighbor who is NOT a Christian. Come on! We are children of the Most HIgh GOD!! We are supposed to be supporting our fellow Christians! Not just with "I'll pray for you", but how about a meal? How about a cup of coffee? My friend is lonely, she is tired, she is spiritually drained and she is and has been waiting for HER church to reach out to her! If I was able to be there for her in person, I would be at the drop of a hat. But unfortunately all I can do is give her my support night and day via text and phone calls. I love this woman! She has devoted herself to her church, her family and most of all to the Lord. Is it too much to ask for someone who says that they care to actually care? Take her a meal, offer her a moment of your time to chat in person. She is a wonderful woman of the Lord, and she has been dumped on for a long time. Come on Church!! Trinity is an amazing worship community which exemplifies all the best in the Episcopal Church. Many of us "fled" here after bad experiences elsewhere, and found both welcome and challenge. Trinity means community. Being disabled, getting here has seemed difficult, but every step has been rewarded by the warm and generous "welcome home" Trinity gives. This is community, and I find I can't live fully without it. At Trinity you do not need to leave your brain at the door. You can wonder, be uncertain, even doubt. But you can also be silent here, and know God, and worship as community and as an individual. In the BBC series The Ascent of Man, Professor Brownowski, standing with his feet in the pond where ashes were dumped from the crematorium at Auschwitz, said "This is what comes of too much certainty." We live surrounded by certainty: certainty that this group is evil, that that religion or party has the only answers, that this interpretation is the one true one. Trinity doesn't do this. Peter Abelard said, "By Doubting We Come To Question, And By Questioning, We Perceive The Truth." If we are not so confident of The Truth as Abelard was, in the 21st century we can hope thoughtful people are learning to be wary of too much certainty. But Trinity expects only that we that we are all on a quest to discover what God means to each of us, in our different ways and with our different experiences of life.

The stained glass windows on the interior are very pretty, and the liturgy is anglo-catholic in style. The music programs at Trinity tend to focus on older music that features the organ. I eventually have become a parishioner here and recommend it for a place to visit if you're at one of the downtown hotels or looking for a church home in the heart of First Hill.
