I was there under the Reverend Dr. Sherri Arnold Graham, who was the most kindhearted, honest, fair, thoughtful, SPIRIT-LED, grounded, BEAUTIFUL person I've ever met. I'm so thankful that we crossed paths and got to serve so closely in the same space! Now that she's moved on, there is Pastor Eric Mansfield, also our NC Senator, coincidentally. (He delivered a fantastically dynamic, powerful, thought-provoking message for Men's Day in either 2012 or 2013.) Having a small regular congregation, as with most small churches, there are some ministry leaders who try to recruit you for every single thing. Just be up front with your availability or unavailability. The regular soul food dinners they offer after special church services are great. Nice to fellowship with and talk with members and friends a little longer on those days and the food is almost always great! Members provide homemade desserts, and some sides, and you know about down-home cookin' mamas -- and papas! The food is always on point when homemade. As a small church, as with many small organizations, they need a little tighter organization, but the most important thing for me with any church is that its body is built of warm, loving people with good hearts, kind intentions, and a thirst for getting closer to God and supporting each other.

They are authentically friendly and genuinely want to serve the people of NC. The worship is modern and well done. The teaching is verse by verse through the Bible. The pastor weaves in a lot of helpful historic and cultural information into the messages, which really helps to bring the text alive. The teachings are always filled with solid theology with Jesus as the center. At the Sunday gatherings, they often encourage everyone to join a Missional Community near their home. These are small groups, which help build friendship and community, but also have a specific focus to serve some area of the local community - a school, neighborhood, specific business, etc. There is a focus on international missions outreach as well. We have one child who attends the children's classes during the Sunday gathering, and she loves it. I think Sundays are her favorite day of the week now... We're very thankful for the community we have found at Emmaus!

I was drawn by the truth of the Gospel that is taught, the reverence of the worship service, the initial conversation I had with Pastor John Musgrave, and the alignment of my Christian beliefs with that of this Church. It is true, not full of "theatrics" and overtly "fleshy entertainment", but rather is a study and edifying preaching of the "reformed Covenant Theology" that is true to the Bible. The congregation isn't large, which I like (I believe the shepherd should know the names of all "his" sheep), and John does. If you are looking for a Church that teaches the true Gospel, has people that care for each other (and not looking for career contacts and such), and reverent, peaceful worship, I highly recommend Clayton Community Church. The Word of God is taught as you NEED to hear it and not as your carnal mind and flesh WANT to hear it. Peace!

The chapel is fairly old but you can see its been renovated within its life span. The chapel looks amazing on the inside. Updated lighting, staging and sound makes the chapel one to remember. The chapel includes a full drumset, Kronos keyboard and baby grand piano. It seats a good 500. This would be a great place to get married and have a wedding as its so nice inside. The parking lot is super small. I would guess there is about 20 parking spaces on the side of the church where 10 are reserved for clergy. All in all, decent place to worship if you catch a program going on.
