This looked like a wonderful park to stay at but when I called to try to get in for a long term spot Bridgette told me they are a two people maximum RV park and we have a 1 y/o so we couldn't stay there. Thought it was odd seeing as other reviews people have their children with them. read more

This is our go to stop when going through Redding. Clean and well maintained. Great staff who we now consider friends. We have stayed here a dozen or more times. Bathrooms showers clean and maintained. Easy access to highway. If you need a pull thru recommend you call well in advance as they can fill up. They are a little out of Redding which I see as a positive but retail is not close by. read more

This was a great stop on our way home from Crater lake to San Francisco! Tom, the on-site manager was super friendly and helpful on the phone and made sure to welcome us when we arrived, even though we arrived past normal hours. The park itself is well maintained and clean and paved throughout . The bathrooms were a highlight for us - super super clean and hot showers. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area. read more

What a gem of a camp ground! When engine trouble put an abrupt halt to our vacation, we needed a camp spot quickly that a tow truck could deliver our travel trailer to. Mountain Gate had space for us and bent over backwards to accommodate our last minute needs and unusual circumstances. When the rest of the campgrounds in the area weren't answering their phones after 5pm, Mountain Gate picked up and even stayed open late to receive us. My finance and I where generously gifted a vintage fully converted greyhound bus after we lost our home in the paradise camp fire in November. We are relocating to the Redding area in order to be closer to family and my fiancé's work ( firefighter). Now that fire season is beginning I am in the process of searching for parks in Redding. When I called the mountain gate park the lady I spoke to was very rude, cutting me off mid sentence and generally treating me disrespectfully. Although I understand that some parks cannot accommodate our RV, there is no call to be as exceptionally awful as this individual was. Mountain Gate RV Park & Cabins - Site 33 - Campgrounds Near Me - Redding, California

Easy check-in and Bridget in the office was very kind. We stayed in full hookup pull-through concrete pad site #66. Leveling on concrete pads is usually an absolute breeze but this one was tilted to the side. Perhaps they did this to prevent water from pooling? Very bad design. We appreciated the 20/30/50 amp plugs on the electrical post as it allowed us to run 2 A/C units simultaneously in 100+ degree heat. Major plus! There was decent tree shade as well. Free wifi was provided for 2 devices and it was blazing fast at our site. The 24 cable channels were also wonderful. The park is located close to I-5 but we didn't notice any road noise at night. Laundry is reasonably priced at $1.75 to wash and $1.50 to dry. Dryers are in bad shape and should be replaced. Washers were ok. Clean bathrooms and showers. A small pool is located near the office but we didn't try it. Propane is available near the office. read more

4.5 stars! I'm not a RV-type, but we used Mountain Gate RV Park to camp overnight while traveling around northern California and Oregon. Definite thumbs-up for this place! We found the place online, and liked that they had an online reservation system - but I ended up calling to make the reservation over the phone when I had a few questions - and it turned out that the phone rate was cheaper for tenters like us. I also got information from the staff including best directions, local weather, and such. We got in late, but the wonderful staff had our reservation information out front, and came out to greet us, and direct us to our site, and told us about their lounge/common room - which had a nice big TV and an old Atari 2600 and karaoke. After we got to our site and set up our tent on the concrete RV pad, and then used the on site electricity to inflate our air mattress, we returned to the game room to play on the Atari 2600. They had a stack of games, some of which were more a puzzle to figure out how to play, but others were good fun and a blast from the past. After watching Mad Men on their big tv, we went back to our site and went to bed, enjoying the stars. The only drawback of this RV park would be for tent-users like ourselves -- noise at night. It is a stone's throw from I-5, so light sleepers be warned about the freeway noise. It ended up getting rather windy in the night as well ( I don't know if this is a constant feature or just a random occurrence, and the rustle of the windy through the trees also kept us up). The nearby restroom building was very clean, well-lit and spacious, with good showers, sinks, and toilet stalls. In the morning, they had a basic continental breakfast (danishes, toast or english muffins plus coffee and tea) in the game room, and gave us a chance to see some of the other RV park users, mostly seniors at this time of the year. They also have a pool and several other amenities which we didn't have time to use as we had to hit the road. They also have a small shop for snacks and supplies, and information on local attractions and such, open during the day. They accept Mastercard and Visa but not American Express. I would give 5 stars with all the amenities, welcoming and friendly staff, clean campgrounds, except for that freeway noise we could hear from our tent. read more

What can I say but what a great park !! My wife and I pullled in on Thursday and was planning on leaving on Sunday but we decided to stay an extra night because we really enjoyed the park ! The staff was friendly and professional! I want to thank Tom for for giving us information on where to go sightseeing! The park was very clean and well maintained! That was the quietest park we have ever stayed at !! It said quite time was 10pm till 8 am but it was quite all day and night ! We never got up early enough for the continental breakfast! We are late birds and love sleeping in when we are away from our children! We are definitely planning on coming back and visiting Mountain Gate RV park!!! read more

The owners take pride in their park and it shows. The maintenance is as good or better than any park that I've stayed at. The staff is friendly and the level concrete slab spaces are a plus. We stayed overnight at Mountain Gate RV Park (near Redding, CA), en route from Oregon to the Bay Area. A very pleasant experience overall: thoughtfully-designed RV park, super-clean and well-maintained facilities, complimentary breakfast, and friendly owners and staff! What we liked: - Just off the I-5, so very convenient location - Well-designed RV park: numerous pull-through lots, each with tree shade and level concrete lots - RV park is *very* clean, and the bathrooms / shower facilities in particular are immaculate! - Continental breakfast included - Game room and pool in the common area (both small, but well-kept) What we didn't like (purely a function of the location): - Road noise from the I-5 nearby (but not that big a deal) - Redding, CA is *very* hot in the summer! Overall--while we wouldn't consider Mountain Gate to be a longer-term camping destination, this is a fantastic pit stop that serves RV travelers along the I-5 well. read more

RV Groups (clubs) BEWARE! Unfortunately, our club had a very bad experience with the office this month. We were charged the wrong amount and charged for sites not reserved! When we attempted to to correct the billing (we had hard copies of our correspondence) the office personnel became very hostile and refused to look at our documentation. It took 3 days to correct the bill. However, the office told us that any further reservations would be individual only and that the Wagon Master could reserve the dates for next year. When we attempted to make reservations for next year we received a contract that requires half of the deposit for the entire stay upon making the reservation and the other other half due 30 days before the reservation date. The contract states that there is no refund for any reason. After corresponding with the office several times it was finally acknowledged by the office that this contract was given to us because we did not pay for the sites that she felt we still owed. She told us that it was time for us to move on. HOW SAD! We have stayed at the Park several times over the years and thoroughly enjoy it. Park is nice and staff somewhat friendly. Limited or No use of restrooms, as they prefer that you use your rig. On our trip, many of the other RV parks have their and cleaning restrooms and showers open during COVID but Mountain Gate RV park may not want to do the cleaning. Park is OK, neat and clean. Pool was open for a limited time. Good location and is close to Redding shopping area or Shasta/Caverns(about 20 minutes each way). Slow Wi-fi and only works for two devices. I cannot say that this is a 4-5 star park but average 3 star. read more

This was the first stop on our family's maiden RV trip to Crater Lake, and my family and I were very pleased with our experience here. The RV park was clean, and the road noise was not noticeable even though you could see it from the park. FYI, follow the website's directions to the park - my Waze app took us elsewhere first, and I had to double back and use Google Maps' satellite/aerial view to find the park and how to get there. Even though we arrived after the office was closed, Andy was very helpful in guiding us to our spot and even loaned us a coaxial cable so we could test out our TV. He also let us know in advance that PG&E would be doing some construction work and would cut off power in the middle of the night, so at least we would have to make accommodations for the minor inconvenience. The spaces were far apart enough and each had its own picnic table. The hook-ups were fairly straightforward. We will definitely stop in next time we travel through the area. read more

WOW and WOW What a great place. We were first time rv campers and we picked the perfect site Mountain Gate. Tim was the person who checked us in and helped us guide our 34 foot RV in the site then he checked on us in two hours to make sure everything was working. We had another camper next to us that helped with hook ups and helpful tips. Then guess what Tim came back the next day with a cable hook up just in case we didn't have one. We felt special all weekend from the gift shop, to the spa, pool, dog run, and the lovely walks and minutes to lake Shasta. It was perfect and Tim and the staff did their jobs which to us made us feel extra special. Please make it a bucket list just to stop by and be refreshed in life basic pleasure of human kindness. Stayed for 2 nights in mid March. Perfect place right off the freeway but really don't hear it much at all. All the spots are separated enough to enjoy. People who work there are very friendly and helpful. Park is extremely clean. Near everything you need and the lake of course isn't too far. Found this spot based on Yelp reviews. Right off I-5, clean & cozy spot. Bathrooms were nice and clean. We were in our mini-van and just needed a place to sleep. They were very accommodating. Friendly & welcoming staff. Perfect place for a quick stop, but also comfortable for an extended stay. Pool area, game room, walking/hiking. Hillside Splendor. In the hillside north of Redding CA you'll find this classy RV Park. Friendly check-in with Janice and Brigette, Mountain Gate is pet friendly and offers many amenities. Just a short drive to Shasta Lake and other outdoor activities or relax with plenty of quiet and gentle breezes. They offer both drive-through and back-in spaces under the canopy of shady, mature maple trees. Each site is very well maintained and many, if not all, are full hook-ups. Unlike many other sites Mountain Gate really does offer internet and cable tv. This is one of the nicest RV camps we've been to, we'll diffidently return. We highly recommend this place. read more

This is a clean, well-maintained RV park. We were there for one night in May 2020, when COVID shelter in place was still active. The amenities were closed, but the office staff were very clear about their adherence to the health order (really appreciated that!) and pleasant when we made the reservations, again when we arrived. The park seemed to be about 3/4 full. The campers were quiet at night. Although this campground is right off I-5, it was quiet, to the point that we could hear the birdsongs clearly. Mature trees are trimmed to accommodate RVs, but still sufficiently lush. Easy to get to Shasta Lake and Mt Shasta. read more

This place is the BEST. I reserved a spot for long term stay for work. It feels like I'm on vacation. Perfect distance from Redding. Far enough away to where you don't have transients but not a short drive to town on I5. Very quite and the freeway drounds out any back ground noise. Nice landscaping and lots of shade trees. Private enough. This place is well kept. It has laundry facilities, bathrooms, propane and a pool! Every is happy here because they are on vacation. Nice place to stay if you are in town working. I guess we might rate a park by just the things we see, use and need. We spent a night at this park on August 5, 2018. We went to check in and were greeted by Tom, a very nice personable man. This is the first sign of how your stay at a park is going to be..... Were the people nice when you checked in? He was great. He checked us in, directed us to our spot, and answered our questions. The park was very nice with a lot of trees. It was easy to navigate into our spot. The 50 amp power was spot on. The cable tv worked well. The dog park had something that many dog parks don't have. Water for the dogs to drink. We didn't use the pool but it looked like a nice area. So, in our view, this is a great place to stay. It is a little cooler than the park we usually stay in down the hill in Redding. Five Stars read more

This park is a super friendly security-wise facility that is clean, amazingly friendly, and although it's just off I-5 it is quiet and very well maintained. During the last big storm everyone came out to help everyone else. This park has 24 hour security as well. We love staying here! read more
