I bought a vehicle from them a year ago. I have had to have the front end rebuilt, tires replaced (separated after 3000 miles), Exhaust system rotted and fell off, back brakes were on metal and had a random misfire code. I took the jeep back in after 8,000 miles to get a new one and found out they had overcharged me by 10,000 on the original jeep. Now they want to charge me 44k for a jeep with a window sticker that says 33k. Run away find another dealer to work with. read more

I bought a brand new 3500 Ram and had airbags installed. After the first remote quit working after two weeks it took the Auto Ranch another 3 to get me a new one. Fast forward 2 months and now my Ram has 5000 miles on it. Down in Pine it decided not to go back in gear after we had it in 4-wheel high. We had it towed to the Auto Ranch because that's the closest repair site our insurance would cover. It took three days and me calling to figure out what was wrong with it and for them to tell me I've got a rental car and that the part will be in a week later read more

We took our truck in for an oil change and multi point inspection. I had asked the gentleman at the counter if they could take extra time looking at the front end because the truck was pulling to the right and had vibrations in the front end. Upon completion of the service, the Ranch had identified a broken lug stud, brake light out, rear differential leaking, "numerous oil leaks" and worn pitman and idler arms. I was initially happy for the quick service and that nothing major was wrong with the truck. They had also stated that there was a weird ting sound coming from under the vehicle, this did not make it on the inspection list though. The next day we had the idler and pitman arms replaced. This did not fix anything and the parts that were taken out of the truck showed minimal wear. Another item to note is that the truck is parked in a garage and there are no signs of "numerous oil leaks" on the floor, in fact, there is no oil on the floor. The rear differential did have a seal out that made the housing look wet. The weird "ting" noise from under the vehicle was the rear u-joints going out. This was easily identified by grabbing the driveshaft with the vehicle in neutral and moving it back and forth. Fast forward a week and we are taking the truck to get the tires balanced and the front end aligned at a local tire shop. The tire shop balances the tires and preps the truck for alignment. One of the workers states that the balance cannot be done because both lower ball joints are shot! I am thinking, "of course they are", so I ask them to show me. Sure enough, up and down movement and side to side. If anyone ever had the truck on a lift, the failing ball joints would be immediately noticeable...even by the most novice of mechanics. I also witnessed the tire shop beating the rear brake drums and spraying penetrant on them to get them to break free in order to check the rear brakes. Why do I bring this up? Because the brakes were supposed to be checked at the Ranch where they received a "Brake linings are OK at this time". So much rust and dirt came out of the drum, there is no way the Ranch did a thorough job checking them out. If you go to the Ranch and they are telling you something is wrong with your vehicle, get a second opinion before you have anything done. Otherwise, you could end up spending your hard earned money on parts and labor trying to chase down a problem that may or may not exist. When paying for a service, you should be getting what you pay for. Maybe this was a one time problem, maybe the service was done by the "B" team, who knows. I would be reluctant to say they did much more than put the vehicle on the lift and change the oil. read more

They listed a truck for sale on Kelley Blue Listing for 18,190. I called and agreed to buy it and pick it up. They Emailed us a form for a 1,500 non refundable deposit since they were going to hold it for two weeks. There was no price on it so we thought it odd and decided to drive up and buy it this week end and pay cash. Thank God we check the Email because they sent us a new deposit form with the price now being 21,989. We would have lost the 1,500 or had to pay almost 4,000 more. I have all the documents and filed a complaint with the Attornery General office of Idaho for deceptive advertisement and business practices. Took my 2014 Town and Country in to get a oil change and knock out the safety recall on my vehicle. When I picked up the vehicle I was told they did not have a label to complete the safety recall. I was confused because the recall was for the window vent switch and not for a label. When I stated the recall notification I received in the mail was for the vent switch the service representative said that he was not showing that in his computer system. So, I just got done doing a search on safety recalls and used my vehicle VIN in the search and guess what...there is a recall on the vent switch. Normally I won't say anything but this switch can cause fire and this is a family vehicle. I can list off some other issues with dealership....but this biggest is lack of communication with their customers. Luckily that was the last time I had to deal with them. read more

After noticing the savings without having to haggle for it, I emailed an inquiry. I immediately received a Response from a saleswoman named Edith Schaner. She was SUPER helpful with the whole process, not pushy, and extremely patient. She picked me up at the airport and got me out of the dealership in no time. The finance team was AMAZING. I drove home in the truck I wanted, for the price I wanted. I can't explain how good it feels to drive home from a dealership knowing that you didn't get taken advantage of. read more

Unprofessional; Dishonest; Sales over Customer Service. Not worth your time. This is not a vindictive review from a disgruntled customer, this is fair warning from someone who was misled. I found a very specific vehicle that I had been looking for on this dealers website. I submitted an email with an offer. I received a phone call on Friday of that week from a manager. He told me that he could not come down to my price but could get closer, but only if I could come and buy it that weekend. I told him that I would have to make arrangements because it was a 6+ hour drive. I made the arrangements, set an appointment, and was sent an email summary of our phone conversation with the agreed upon price and time and packed my bags. At this point, nothing had been sold to me. I had an unsigned agreement and knew it wasn't a done deal, I was fine with that because I didn't want to buy a 34k vehicle sight-unseen. However, at this point it was clear to them that I was going to a lot of trouble to bring them out-of-state business. About 30min from my appointment time I received a phone call from a concerned salesperson. They asked how quickly I could get to the dealership because another salesperson was rushing someone over to buy the vehicle. I said I was about 20 min away but I was willing to put a deposit down over the phone to secure the agreed upon deal just in case. (The whole thing felt a little fishy, but I'd come a long way and was willing to take the risk.) They told me they would go get a deposit form and would call me back. We would have it filled out long before this other buyer would show up, securing the deal. As I took it for a test drive, it was sold to the other customer. When I confronted the salespeople about how misleading the entire experience had been and pointed out how much trouble I had gone to for this deal, they shrugged and assured me "this happens all the time" and added insult to injury by pointing out the incredible trade-in vehicle they received and couldn't possibly refuse. Without being crude or unreasonable I let them know what I thought of the dealership and left. As I was waiting for my ride to return I received a call saying that a manager was coming from home to speak with me. I said I had no need to speak with him. The manager arrived before my ride home so I met him and told him how unhappy I was. He quickly whisked us into a back room and tried to convince me that this was just a matter of two customers showing up at the same time etc. I told him I felt I was lured to the dealership and misled and I called the dealership "dishonest". Before I could finish the thought, he became belligerent and unprofessional and kicked me out of the dealership. I was fine with that because I didn't particularly want to meet with him to begin with. On my way through the parking lot, the manager became apologetic and offered to fill my tank or give me a deal on another vehicle to "make things right". I declined. Before things went bad I was told multiple times how this dealership prides itself on out-of-state business. If you want to be subjected to an awkward showdown with another customer and shown no concern or regard for the trouble of bringing them your business, not to mention outright deception, I'd recommend going where this doesn't "happen all the time". read more

They were great at selling the car to us !! But for us to have to bring the car in for service for major things 3 times in the 3 months we've had the car is just unacceptable to me and one time for the key fab not working(dead battery, 3 weeks after purchasing the car)... On the way home from the store, our brakes were malfunctioning! We barely made it home. Our car was brought it on a Friday. We were told it would be ready Wednesday. At 4:30 (they close at 5) we called and asked if it was ready. They proceeded to tell us that due to the storm in Portland, the part was delayed . When were they going to call and tell us ? Then was supposed to be ready on Friday . Called again right before closing and we were told something else went out and they needed to keep it another day and would be ready at 1pm.. called at 1 pm today and it was still not ready but they will call us. it is now 4:30pm on Saturday (have had the car since last Friday) and I just had to call again and ask if it was ready . Still is not ready!! What I don't understand is 1.) Why do we have to call and ask for updates when they should be calling us to inform us something is not going as planned! And 2.) I thought to myself, no way they would post a price online for the whole world to see...and then not honor it. Like most of you I am a very busy person. I don't have time in my day to argue with a salesman about the ethics of posting an internet price that not everyone is able to get. They repeatedly tried to convince me that a "conditional price" is only for people who got a special letter in the mail from Ford. So my question is this.. WHY PUT IT ONLINE... what a shady business practice to advertise a price with a little asterisk next to it, just so that you can make an extra couple hundred dollars off of unsuspecting service members such as myself. Let me start by saying I am not the type of person that posts negative comments or complaints online about bad experiences. In fact, I wish more people would post positive experiences that negative, but this one warrants posting to save others out there from falling prey to the tactics of the Mountain Home Auto Ranch dealership. What transpired was a classic Bait-n-Switch. In fact it was # 5 on the top dealership Scams to watch out for when buying a new car. Here it is. Despite several opportunities to disclose that the car was a demo car, they never did disclose and represented the car as brand new. No stickers saying demo, all website advertising (over 10 places) advertised the car as having 4 miles on it. Again the mileage never disclosed despite several opportunities to tell us the buyer. Expecting the car to be as advertised "NEW" we never looked at the odometer on test drive. Long story short we negotiated and went all the way to contract before we noticed in the paperwork the car had 3,811 miles on it. When we called it out they claimed it was in fact a new car because it had not been registered. After some research, yes this is technically true due to Idaho state laws allowing dealerships to not have to register if under 4,000 miles. When we questioned the non-disclosure, they still claimed it was in fact a new car. While it may be new in their mind it was in fact a used ethically and also manufacturer warranty wise. So yes, we caught them on this one and backed out of the deal, especially when the Finance Manager said "well you don't Have to buy it", and we did not. We wasted an entire Sunday and fuel to go there on promises of a great deal on a NEW car. Also note our finance interest rate magically went lower and lower in a 30 minute sales negotiation period to make the payment work. Clearly all profit driven. I did call the GM of Mountain Home Auto Ranch, Mr. Dennis Todd McCurry about our experience before posting this complaint. He apologized as would be expected, said he would look into what happened and promised to call me back the following day by 5pm. It has now been 48 hours and now return call or explanation. Prospective buyers beware! Old school 4 square paper tactics to maximize dealer profits and deceitful practices of non-disclosure. Of course you can try it out for yourself and I am sure some are good, but ours was classic bad practices and you all deserve to know to make an educated decision on your large item purchase. USED TRUCK PURCHASE GONE BAD! On June 2, 2014 I purchased 2008 Ford F150 from Mountain Home Auto Ranch. Drove home that night about 35 miles and engine started to run very rough and make a knocking sound. I called dealer right away and made them aware. The next day Don in service had someone meet me half way to pickup truck and take back to dealer to look at. Sales manager finally called me on Friday to let me know he just found out what happened 4 days later. I went to dealer on Saturday the 7th and picked up something I left in truck and was just sitting in shop. At that time I also agreed to buy drivers side mirror, extra key and fob. I picked up truck on Wed the 11th and fob was not there, was told I needed to come back when part comes in because truck had to be there to program fob. They stated that one cam phaser solenoid was bad and replaced it at no charge and did not perform TSB repair per Ford like I had requested due to the fact that the TSB recommends to test oil pressure. No one called me to say fob was in, I had to call. On the 17th. I called service and spoke to Tom in service and informed him that the truck was making a knocking sound and on startup it sounded like marbles rattling in front of engine and I was leaving for California, he stated that was normal as per Ford and" he would sell this truck to his mother" and he was aware I was driving to California. I proceeded to drive to California on a trip to see family on the 19th. While there the truck began to make knocking sound missing very bad and check engine light was on and flashing at times. Also would stall out while driving, just like you turned the key off. I had to put in neutral and restart. I drove straight from California to Mountain Home, as they said, "limp it home" to drop truck off on the 23rd where they did have loaner car for me to drive. Today is the 26th and have not heard from anyone yet. Called on 25th and 26th and left messages for Darren and had no call back. Spoke to Tom in service late on the 26th and I was told they were running oil pressure tests and waiting for techs results. Late AM on 27th Darren called me and stated truck has low oil pressure and they were trying to find out why, and says not to worry that it's under the 3mo 3,000 mile warranty. At 2:45pm on 6/30/2014 I called Darren and he stated truck needs an engine, metal in oil. Tom from service also called and stated the crank has a full 1/32 of movement and trust washers are gone and oil sample shows metal throughout. They say they're going to install a FQR reman which stands for Ford Quality Remanufactured. EST time frame week to ten days. At 4:45pm on 6/30/2014 Darren called me back and said Ford declined the claim for FQR engine. They would only pay for used engine and labor of same age and mileage. Or I could pay difference of $1986.60 out the door for the amount between used engine and FQR. Also stated they could not take truck back and return my money or get me another truck due to the fact I registered the truck, "guess I was to drive a non-registered truck", and would be a buy back at a lesser amount I paid. I called Tom in service at 8:00am on 7/1/2014 and agreed to pay $1986.60 for FQR engine to be installed. On Tuesday July 8, 2014 Tom in service called and said truck was done. I had asked if they transferred block heater from old engine and he wasn't sure. He called back the next day July 9th and said they didn't transfer the heater and bought a new one at NAPA and installed for me. I wasn't able to pick up truck until Saturday July 12, 2014. I showed up at about 9:00am and I paid my bill, walked out to truck and saw it very dirty and dusty. I thought OK I need to wash after CA trip, but I assumed they would at least wash after a $2000.00 repair just after I just purchased. When I opened driver's door there was oil and grease on carpet, door panel, door rocker panel, hood and fenders, and steering wheel. They had some guys detail while I waited. Needless to say I will not refer or purchase anything or anyone to Mountain Home Auto Ranch, and I will make sure everyone I talk to hears this story. Very bad service and communication from this dealer, and to me when they say "they do business a different way here at the ranch" they're not kidding. read more

Worst customer service ever. Took them six months to refund Gap coverage. The salesman asked if we could come in the next day because he had a game to watch that night. We told him we both had to work the next day. He asked us three more times to come in the next day. When we got back from a test drive, the guy just walked off. About ten minutes later, some other salesman showed up and the previous guy just walked out the door. What a nightmare! I was quoted the advertised price of the vehicle--the advertised price--over the phone and then upon my arrival had to stand around and wait for the actual offer. When offer arrived, it was some $2000 above the advertised and previously quoted price. Additionally, I was promised a "ball park" figure for my trade in and was lowballed. The manager finally came over and explained that the vehicle could be sold to me for the advertised price if I would take an additional $2000 less for my trade in. Ugh! What a joke. Do not go out of your way to go to Mountain Home Auto Ranch to buy a car. I finally left, after wasting two hours and another hour of drive time. On August 8 2015 my wife and I bought a 2013 Dodge Journey that had 44526 miles on it. The very next dayvthe car started overheating. We took the car in to the ranch and told them what had happened. They said it was the thermostat that went bad. They got the car 8-12-2015 and we got the car back 8-13-2015. 2 weeks laater it started to over heat again. So we took the car back to the ranch on September 1st 2015. They told us when the car over heated the first time it warped the aluminum head and that they would have to order a new head for the car. So they got the new head in and upon installing the new head they did not time the motor right so when they turned the motor over the piston hit the valve and bent the valve in the new head. So now they tell me that they have to get a 2nd new head for the car. Well as the 2nd new head comes in and they take the first new head off the bolt hole treads come out of the block and the new 2nd head can not torqued down to right specifications. Well now they tell me they have to order a new long block motor for the car. I did not get my car back till October 31st 2015 the car was in the ranch for 2 months 9-1-2015 to 10-31-2015. When I got the car back finally there was a few things missing an a/c cap and a bolt that holds the antifreeze reservoir on. So my wife confronted them about the missing bolt and the mechanic says, "I could not find it so I did not put it on". Not only that but the shop supervisor told me that there is a wall full of nuts and bolts that would have worked. Then the car had to go back in December 10 2015 because the transmission slipped, check engine light was on and the belt was making noise. Got the car back same day. Then on December 17-2015 the car goes back to the ranch because car is misfiring and the pulley is still making noise. Got the car back next day. Then the car goes back on December 21 2015 for misfiring again the coil is going out. So they fix it. I get the car back and the next day we leave for Texas for Christmas just leaving town car starts misfiring again. So we had to sit in the auto ranch for 2 hours while car was being fixed they told us can not fix it. If it starts to misfire again just drive it and we will fix it when you get back. On trip and to Texas I noticed my tires wearing a little funny getting rounded on the edges really bad so I took the car in to have the alignment check and it was way out. They did not realign the car when they put the motor in. It is a front wheel drive car so the alignment got all messed up. So when we got back from our trip our parts came in to the auto ranch for the misfiring on January 22 2016 I took the car in to get fixed for the misfiring and complained about the cars alignment. Went in on the 1-22-2016 and was ready February 18-2016. So almost another month with out my car. They fixed the misfiring and the alignment and told them that those tires were new when I bought the car who is going to replace the tires and I just got brushed off. So I left with my car. Then in June I went to to do a service for the car and on the way to get the oil and filters the car started misfiring again. So I opened up the hood to see if I could see any thing. And I noticed my air intake is not even hooked up to the motor. So the engine was sucking dust and dirt in too the motor. The intake was not hooked up from February 18-2016 to June 17-2016. I told them I was not happy and that this is wrong and now I am paying on a car that had a new motor put in it and now it has sucked dust and dirt and were not going to do any thing for you but fix the in take and we will put two new tires on because we wore your tires out from the the alignment problem 5 months later after I complained again. So the car went in June 17 2016 and got it back June 18 2016. Which it was a real head ace because my wife was in Boise delivering our baby son. So I got my car back and a few weeks go buy and the car starts to miss fire again and so I pop the hood to see if there is any thing that I could see. And I notice a bracket that goes to the intake is not hooked back up so yet again for the 4th time the mechanic at the ranch did not do there job right. So I take it back to the auto ranch and and tell them I am not happy about the car miss firing and the bracket that is not hooked up. They take the car on the July 11 2016 later that day I get a phone call from the ranch saying why the car was misfiring this time was because when it went in to the shop in June the coil did not get hooked up all the way and that the bracket was not on because of mechanic. I am not happy with my car or them. I told them that I do not trust my car not do I trust them working on my car. They have not done any thing to help me or find me another car. They caused damage to it I have photos and the invoices when they left stuff off my car. The invoice of them stating that there mechanic damaged parts on my car. read more

We do not live in Idaho so we were working closely with a salesman named Bill Schultz to make sure the truck we were interested in was exactly what we wanted. Bill stated he would drive the truck and text us that it was getting for mileage. Bill texted 18 mpg in the city and 24mpg with the wind. He mentioned several other things but the text was too long to rewrite here in this complaint. We also asked him to do a complete inspection of the inside and outside and tell us what the flaws are on the truck. Bill advised my husband that the truck was completely clean with no flaws, as a matter of fact he said "it is the nicest truck I have seen in the area." We reviewed multiple pictures online and did not see any defects. After all that we finally flew to Idaho. The truck we were shown when we got there was not what Bill and the dealership represented. The mileage was 16 mpg freeway and the exterior did not have one place on it that was not scratched, dented or replaced. The tailgate had been replaced and a cheap after market paint job with fish eyes was the finish. The passenger tail light was broken and the truck looked like it had just come in from an extended hunting trip through the brush. The pictures online were low resolution and hid the flaws on the truck. Mountain Home Auto Ranch offered a travel voucher however once we got there they stated they were not going to give us a voucher because it was not their fault that we did not like their truck. They agreed to drive us back to the airport, (how kind) and on the way back to the airport the engine started to shimmy and almost died at the red light. They misrepresented the vehicle and we were stuck in Boise with no flights home or travel compensation as promised. Mountain Home should be responsible for our out of pocket expenses...it was NOT that we did just "did not like" their car, as they stated, they were completely dishonest. The truck we saw when we arrived is not what they said during multiple phone calls. We lost a lot of money on this verbal deal and Mountain Home would not take any responsibility, honor their voucher and for that matter was not even remorseful or nice after everything we went through due to their dishonesty. These immoral business practices should be illegal. DO NOT take your business to Mountain Home Auto Ranch, tell your friends and family and save them money and time. I am sitting in a hotel room with no flights available and I want to get home to my family. Won't be going there again and won't recommend to anyone.it has now been for 4 years since I bought my truck there I got it 'cause it had low miles and good price drove well and when I got it I asked the salesman to see the cardiac report which didn't list anything serious and the guy said the truck was just a rental for a couple years. We'll now my heater core and air conditioner have gone out so I took it to the shop and they called me later asking if if been in a serious accident with the truck because the box showed serious damage that could've of only been caused by that. $1400 to repair, no wonder the salesman wanted sold me the extended warranty and wouldn't return my calls for a couple weeks after I kept leaving messages that I wanted to cancel it. read more

I had a very poor experience at your lot today with a young, hoodlum type looking kid (forgot his name but he filled out some sort of survey about me so there should be a record of that), one which will likely cause me to not patronize your business ever again. He was very confrontational in his attitude and his knowledge of proper salesmanship was nonexistent. He told me when I inquired about some information on a vehicle, that it was "out of my range", this being after I pulled into your lot in my Cadillac Escalade which he approached me after I got out of my vehicle. He was snotty and rude. I came to your establishment with the potential to purchase a vehicle today if I found the right car at the right price but instead left to find someone else that would appreciate my business.
