Back in the good ole days when Atlanta wasn't such a big city Spalding Drive was the place to hit if you wanna to rub elbows with the rich and famous...now a days they all gather either in Milton or in Alpharetta. Their tourist attraction is mainly the Publix It's one of the smaller version but the employees here are super friendly and know most people by their first name. There is a CVS right next door...plenty of parking and best of all no annoying speed bumps!

When I worked in Buckhead, I often would escape my suffocating cubicle by checking out the…read moreboutiques off Piedmont Road, and one of them was the Bilthouse--an enchanting little cottage tucked away on East Paces Ferry. I got sucked into one of the boutique's sales: "Buy one item at full price, get two more items free." Or something like that. I ended up purchasing an expensive Free People sweater (lavender rabbit fur with two white buttons to undo the neckline, along with lace over the shoulders, complemented by multi-colored stitching). For free, I chose a pair of hippie-flower gauchos (which are so out of style now and already were out the door at the time) and a very mod, block-color skirt. I still wear the sweater and skirt, so I'd say I fell for a pretty sweet deal. I must agree with Lauren S. that the clothing, overall, reminds me of sorority girls and their stay-at-home mothers. But, sprinkled among the Phi Mu mess are cool styles, reminiscent of Free People funk. I am most fond of the Bilthouse's pieces of decor--or at least when I shopped there last. I couldn't help myself and bought a folk art butterfly, with a chair leg body and rusted iron wings. This place is rather pricey but is worth a look if you're in the Buckhead area on a much-needed shopping binge.
