The whole church was beautifully decorated for the season. There were two official photo stations for families, but honestly, you could take a picture anywhere and still get great Christmas vibes. There was a huge Christmas tree in the center of the lobby and giant nutcracker statues by the entrance--super festive. They also had several drink stations with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, apple cider, plus cookies for everyone to enjoy. The service itself was wonderful. The message really focused on the heart of Christmas and our Savior, Jesus. At the end, we lit our candles and worshipped together with classic Christmas songs, remembering God's love and grace. Our whole family loved it and had such a meaningful time worshipping together.

I've been part of this church community for the past three years and have appreciated many aspects…read moreof it: warm people, thoughtful teaching, and a focus on relationships. However, I recently learned that the church holds non-affirming views regarding LGBTQ+ identities and relationships. This was not made clear on the website or in any public-facing materials, which made the discovery especially painful. I witnessed others be hurt by what feels like a bait-and-switch, entering a space that seems welcoming only to later find out they are not fully accepted. Transparency matters and clarity is kindness. While churches are entitled to their theological positions, I believe it is important, out of respect for those seeking a safe and welcoming spiritual home, to clearly communicate those beliefs upfront. That way, people can make informed decisions about whether this is a place where they will be fully accepted and supported. This experience has been disappointing but a great learning opportunity. The pastors did make an effort to talk to me and followed up with some sermons about the matter which I have linked below. I can see its earnest desire to do their best and lead the church with integrity through a challenging year. I've been inspired and impressed with their courage to tackle difficult subjects and to be honest when the answers are hard to come by. It's clear that they have a clear calling from God to his people and to the Eastside in particular. I would encourage anyone looking for a fresh expression of growing in their faith to explore Kalos online and/or in person as they begin meeting in person starting in January 2021.

Their "celebrity" pastor Judah Smith and Pastor Jude Fouquier. Left me with lasting damage causing me to almost take my life. The only "sin" I had committed was finally being honest about being gay. I think it's time churches like this are held accountable for giving advice to teens without any semblance of a counseling degree, all while making 100,000's of dollars if not more off the people who attend.

The gathering isn't just a sermon, but an opportunity to gather as the Church to grow to be more like Jesus together. I trust all of the pastors and leaders there, and not just because they do the right things, but because I have personally witnessed their vulnerability and humility, and I see how they are continuing to pursue Jesus, and pursue a life that looks more like him, and they desire for others to experience the same. Practically speaking, the kids ministry is great, and my kids love it, so not only does it give us an opportunity to focus on the gathering, but they are actually excited to go every week! The church is also very good at connecting new people with a small group (MC) where they will feel comfortable and grow. Also, they serve great coffee. :)

Why I think OCC is a great church: 1) authenticity - this church walks its talk and puts its money where it's mouth is, supporting countless local and global outreach missions; 2) leadership - Pastor Mike is so genuine, & humble. He doesn't preach, but shares his faith in Christ and teaches others in a non-judgmental, loving manner; 3) pastoral staff - OCC has a big flock and they provide a large staff to meet the needs of the church. I love that Pastor Mike shares the pulpit with the other pastors because it's let me discover they are all such big-hearted, gifted pastors; 4) worship - I love the worship service, the music is great; it draws me in and helps me connect with God on many levels. The messages are relevant, fortified by scripture always move me. 5) LifeGROUPS - let's face it - whether you are a huge church or not, you can't develop meaningful relationships with others in an hour or two a week. These groups provide settings in homes where you get to know your group members more intimately. Through Pastor Pat and others, the church trains the leaders, mentors them and stays connected. I am a fan of more contemporary, casual churches but I also want a church that challenges me and helps me grow in my relationships with God and others. For me, OCC does this very authentically and passionately.

I'm surprised they didn't have pride flags outside. A mega church doesn't grow this big without a pastor preaching the Bible. Although this church carries the title as a mega church, attendance from its members dropped a lot. Only half of the seats are filled during one service, which tells you a lot about its church direction. I would never attend a church that's LGBT, and this is what happens when a pastor and its staff allows the LGBT to take over a church. I don't mean to be judgmental towards any church, but it makes me want to steer clear whenever this issue comes up. The building is very nice and plenty of things for the kids to do here though. I would only take my family and friends to churches that preaches the Bible and isn't promoting LGBT

I told Bradley Morell I don't need mental health I need a safe place to live, but he used every excuse to deny me housing. Reasons for denial. #1 could not get a letter from an organization to say I'm homeless. #2 I have a lease but I didn't. I did sign a lease at porchlight in Bellevue in 2025 and can prove it. The Salt House takes in more homeless funds than it gives out to the community and if they do its Mental Health. I have the messages to Bradley Morell begging for help but was ignored.
