Was looking for a house in Salt Lake County and had found this realtor group through a house I had driven by. After speaking to two of the women in this company, I thought they seemed to have excellent knowledge of the market and would look out for my best interests in finding a house in the area. From not receiving daily emails like I had from other agents in other cities I had lived in, to being late for showings we had scheduled, I really began to question if the realtors with MOVE really had the experience and knowledge to assist me with this purchase. I looked for other realtors and found another in the area that seemed helpful and was sending me information daily. (so I didn't have to comb through the listings myself each day and send them to a realtor) After a few months of looking, one morning I found a house that I had been admiring, went down 20K in price, so I contacted both realtors I had been in contact with-Sydney from Move and someone else from another company. Syd responded first, and we went and viewed the home that day and submitted an offer. We were told our offer was accepted the next day, which was super exciting! As this was my first home purchase, I was dismayed at the way my realtor approached the due diligence phase, as I felt that many of my requests were minimized. Despite the fact that the house was about 85 years old, the seller had not done any maintenance in the five years she had owned the home, and it was quite evident. I felt that the realtor was not on my side, and did not have my best interests at the forefront. But, I wanted this house, so I had to continue with her. I was also told by Syd that if I did purchase this home that it didn't matter to her because the sale was not something that she would rely on to pay her bills! She suggested someone to do an inspection and even called this person for me. She had talked about how thorough this person was and when we walked through the house with them, it seemed like they knew what needed to be done in the house, and what was important. Before we closed on the house, I had asked to go over to the house to take some measurements, and the realtor ignored my requests. At closing, she did not even appear, and had her supervisor, Shaundra, attend the closing instead. At the closing, I was given documents stating that the furnace was serviced, and was actually TWELVE years older than the inspector had said it was.There was also a receipt from a pest control company who was trying to get rid of elm seed bugs in the basement. Despite all of this, when we did the final walkthrough after the closing, there were elm seed bugs all over the furnace area floor and in most of the window frames. We also noticed the toilet on the first floor wasn't flushing properly, and the realtors supervisor asked for the seller to have it fixed before we moved in. That didn't occur, so the supervisor called in her own plumbers to take care of the job. They came over twice and did not fix it properly. I then had to call IBEX, the home warranty company I had a one year warranty with, and even they have not fixed the toilet properly. While I expect an older home to have work that needs to be done, I believe that my realtors could have been more helpful in having the home ready and repairs taken care of before move in, to minimize the stress of the whole process. The realtors I worked with seemed to act like I was asking for too much (to have a toilet fixed properly, a stove that was not functioning removed, lightbulbs replaced that were out-of which there were many in several rooms, and for the bugs to be taken care of). I would definitely not recommend these realtors, or the inspector, of whom I have written a separate review. The whole experience made me feel for the first several months of home ownership, that I had purchased a lemon, and that the lack of attention to detail that the realtors and inspector had was completely unprofessional. When I decide to sell this home, I have learned an important lesson from this experience, and will be sure to interview my next realtor to be sure I have picked someone who has my best interests at heart. The stress of buying a home is real, but can be minimized by realtors that listen and are attentive to each of their clients. read more
