The deal is as follows - you can pick up any ten items (be they DVDs or CDs, mix and match as you please) for the very attractive price of £10. They have a pretty wide range on offer, too, even if it is a little eclectic. Mansfield Park and other BBC dramas languish beside Hollywood Rom Coms and stand up comedy. A little rummaging may be required but you're bound to find at least a couple that you fancy. And I haven't even mentioned the music! A large selection of albums released over the past few years grace the shelves in the music section, although you will find some older gems there too(Blondie, Eat to the Beat, anybody?). I don't know if they just find the odd old box out the bag or if they're on top of that sort of thing. All I know is that it's the only place I can find things like Squares (crisps), Vice Versas (Okay, that was 3 years ago, but still amazing!) and Crispy M&Ms. It's super convenient, it's very cheap, and they have everything I could ever want for my cinema-snacking needs. The staff here are very helpful and don't give you the hard-sell bollocks that makes going into some other electronics retailers a stressful and often awkward experience. Their special offers are very good and new ones come up all the time, so it's worth checking back regularly. It's not unusual to find a £1000 Sony TV here for little over half price. Unfortunately for poor old Mr Richer, I found a deal on Amazon that just edged out what was on offer here, but I'd still recommend the place, and would make it first stop on my next quest for high-end consumer electronics.

Anyway, great service, fantastic offers and a welcome tonic to the sterile nature of some of the big electronic stores.

The mannequin in the window right now is wearing a Miss Claus outfit, which is a bit out of season. They do quite a lot of fancy dress gear and wigs, mainly at Halloween and Xmas but they always have a few bits and bobs kicking about. They also have a photocopier, which is 5p per sheet. They do a good juice selection, and sell Rubicon, a tropical fruit flavoured fizzy juice which you can't really get anywhere else except from abroad. Like I said, it is a bit random when it comes to stock! They also hilariously sell copies of Cd's which stand shamelessly on a spinney stand outside the shop. It's always odd ones they have like Now 13 and Macy Gray's first album. God knows how they get away with it.

How can anyone resist a name like Young's Interesting Books? I've actually been here a few times…read morenow - it's in the Skirving St strip of shops which I love, and Young's is always worth a stop in. It's a second hand book shop, and as the title suggests, you're going to find some interesting gems in here. The window display is always amazing and they tend to have something quirky/unusual in there, or themed (recently they've had Star Wars stuff in the window). It's definitely worth taking time for a browse in here - if you were looking for something in particular you could ask for help, otherwise it's nice just to chill out and have a browse. You never know what you're going to find.

The name could be argued as a bit presumptuous.. but it has of course a wide range of second hand books from curiosities to standards and is just the place book lovers love to while away an hour or so. If you like to feel the book in your hand that has likely been all over the world, read a wee bit and judge not by it's cover or the anonymous tips of online book sellers then this is definitely the place for you. The prices are reasonable and they buy as well as sell. Ideal.
