Movers cost thousands of dollars of damage. I spent $700 on insurance. The total amount they paid was $40. Don't waste your money.

Terrible customer service. I moved and had damage. Went through all the paperwork and added photos. They determined they did owe me money and now after almost three months, I have not received my check and every time I have emailed, they do not respond. On the phone I have asked to speak to someone in management and I'm told they are the only one there and they will take my info and get back to me. If you use this service, be aware of the MANY strict guidelines under which they will consider your claim. A move, experts say, is like a death in the family. Most people are so stressed out, they will likely not pay attention to the blitz of emails and the many pages of fine print that outline the companies policies. I received $1400 (less $1,000 deductible) for a $4300 claim, because much of the damage was not reported within the timeframe of 48 hours (which I could not do due to extenuating circumstances). So blame me for not paying attention and for the moving gods to screw me up with unexpected complications. Still, it is not a move-friendly insurance company! read more

This insurance company appears to have no scruples and will use every possible loophole to get out of paying you anything. While they were recommended by my transit company, I found out after the fact that the transit company was/is aware of their actions. I DO NOT recommend using them. read more

It is my opinion that this insurance company is a rip off. They are friendly when you are purchasing insurance but when it comes to filing a claim they are not helpful nor is their follow through prior to the move. They told me that they would call the moving company to make special arrangements for items we insured and they did not. They want you to do all the leg work yourself, file claim, take pictures of damaged items, send e-mails, and after all that they still deny your claim. Do NOT use this Moving insurance. The arbitrator for our case ruled in our favor, requiring Moving Insurance LLC to pay for the inspection of the damaged/destroyed items and ultimately awarding the values provided from the inspection. Moving Insurance LLC previoulsy had offered $630. We were awarded damages and arbitration fees of $2,116.55. This was a lengthy process starting in April with the check finally being received this week (September). Moving Insurance LLC did everything they could to brush our claim aside, including delaying responses required to begin arbitration for months. As the earlier reviews suggest, I really should have read the reviews before. Whenever you buy moving insurance, check their policies. They have hidden a lot of details and loop holes in their policies. I moved from LA to SF and they charged me 150$ for the insurance. In the move, my LED screen cracked. The crack wasn't seen from outside but was visible when the tv was turned on. This usually happens when somebody applies extra pressure on the screen from outside and the screen cracks internally. Accidents happen and I am ok even if the screen breaks. However, I need to be duly given back the insurance amount. I believe it was a legitimate claim but the insurance company said they don't cover electrical and mechanical fault. I paid for there most expensive coverage and everything went to waste. As a matter of fact the LED screen is worth 800$. The entire experience felt as if the company has no concern for the insured and is one of those typical companies who puts in as many loopholes as possible to reject a claim. Don't buy it and instead I would recommend going with a full insurance from the moving company. If they don't provide, don't use the services of the moving company in that case. read more

total scam. keep your money. really don't do it, you'd just be that much closer to replacing your belongings that end up damaged. but if you decide to do it... know this: 1-you are responsible for the movers properly boxing/packing everything correctly - if you are one person ...i advise you to clone yourself so you can be in 3-4 places at once while movers are packing up everything in your home. 2-you need receipts for the items purchased...even if it was a decade ago. 3-you need to get quotes for fixing anything damaged, this pertains to and not limited to: crystal, electronics, pictures/frames, clothing, furniture etc etc... lastly, even if your movers quote you for packing/box for something but then they don't do it... it is still your fault per 'terms and conditions you signed for' and it isn't covered. again, it is your fault. please, just keep your cash... read more

Do not use this insurance company! They refuse to pay your claims and are extremely rude. Kelly Handled my claim and told me to go get my own furniture repair estimates done. They don't even cover the furniture company coming out to do the estimates. So you are left with broken furniture and have to pay for the repair company estimates. Total rip off!!!! Not only did pay for the insurance, I had to pay an additional $1000 for packing to ensure minimal damage. When I submitted the claim the pay out covered 1/4 of the damage, so I cost me WAY more than if I didn't et insurance at all. This company is a complete SHAM!!! Do not use them!! I repeat do NOT USE THEM! First of all they sold me last minute supplemental insurance for my move saying that the company that I was using was very reputable so they would make the policy-even though it was past the normal time frame. (the moving company was listed on their website as a company they worked w/ and vice versa. They sold me the policy and the movers walked in as I got the final email with the policy intact. They did not go over any details of the policy with me, but I fully insured only certain fragile items. They told me the items would be covered at full replacement value if any damage were to occur based on this policy after my original movers policy covered what they were suppose to cover. Well, the movers did damage some of my items. I contacted the moving company and they told me to fully unpack before filing my claim to make sure I discovered everything and also to file with them first and they needed to send paperwork over to the supplemental company. Well, wouldn't you know my claim was denied stating that I waited more than 48 hours to file and that the movers did not document the damage properly (even though the movers actually took pics and pointed out the damage to me!) and lastly saying that the movers did not package certain items correctly. This is a complete scam...why would you claim a company was reputable? Why would the moving company who works with this supplemental insurance company often tell me to completely unpack and file with them first? Needless to say I'm pissed and this company should not get away with this!!! read more

Can I give zero stars? TERRIBLE company. I paid for insurance and my shipment was damaged. I file a claim for exactly the cost to repair the goods and they offer a massively reduced settlement less than 15% of the actual cost of repair. Deductions - never mentioned on taking the insurance, co- insurance penalty. Any damage caused in move that a mover may have tried to repair will invalidate your coverage. Every detail not clearly apparant in their policy will enable them to reduce or refute your coverage. Basically, consumers - NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. If you are a shipping company who outsources to insurers - NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Your customers will be back complaining to you. Often, as a customer, you do not have a choice on insurers - the shippers just ask if you want insurance and you say yes. Another shady company along with united moving and storage(no caps needed for a POS company) out of Las Vegas, Nevada. It makes sense though since united moving and storage recommended them. All my furniture was broken and they said they don't cover it. On the phone the agent Sean said they did. But make sure you read their ridiculous contract of what they don't cover. You might then realize what do I actually need you for. Wait I don't I am giving you money to insure pretty much nothing. None the less I am pretty sure this company does shady business and will have a lawyer look into. I am sure he will be interested after he reads their shady contract. Insurance has a lot of high standards and this company does not provide those standards. Do not listen to the fake made of reviews. I used to work for company that paid for good reviews and they got them. Listen to the majority on this one and find another company to insure with. I agree wholeheartedly with the prior reviewer that said this company will find any excuse it possibly can not to pay claims. If you carefully read their policy, you'll see it is a minefield with all sorts of arbitrary deadlines and other excuses to allow them to deny a claim. Their entire business model is to collect money on premiums and then issue a policy that gives them dozens of reasons to deny every claim. If you're able to get past all that and actually comply with the terms of the policy, like I did, they'll sit on your claim forever in the hopes that you'll give up, and it is impossible to reach a live person by phone or email throughout that process. In addition, their pricing is outrageous. I happen to have excellent renter's insurance through Chubb that cost me about $500 and provided me coverage for an entire year. When I had an issue during my recent move, Chubb really stepped up and paid for over $20,000 of damage caused by the movers at Shleppers in NYC. When I tried to recover the remaining $1,000 deductible from Moving Insurance LLC, I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to even acknowledge my claim. To add insult to injury, the price I paid for the Moving Insurance policy was $1,323 for a few hours of coverage (whereas Chubb charged me $500 for an entire YEAR of coverage). On top of all that, the Moving Insurance policy is secondary to any renters or homeowner's insurance you may have, so they don't have to pay a penny until your underlying insurance is exhausted, which makes their pricing all the more outrageous. Excess insurance is supposed to be cheaper than primary insurance, but not here. This isn't insurance--it's a scam. You're much better off getting a renters or homeowner's insurance policy from a reputable company like Chubb than trying to deal with the con artists at Movinginsurance.com. read more

We used movinginsurance.com to insure our items in a move from Hawaii to California. We insured mostly the high end items which we only had a very few. Well, let me tell you, my wife and I are in our mid 70's and it was very hard for us to go thru all the boxes and things when they arrived in California. The moving company set up the beds and we opened some of the high end items, King Size Bed, Paintings, antique items, and the most valuable items. We noticed that our second bed, the queen size mattress, had a large depression and a large bump in the back half of the mattress. The other items were packed into the garage, my exercise bike was severely damaged, but was behind a large number of boxes, but I could see that it arrived. This was part of my physical therapy for my damaged knee. It was a few days before we could get things moved around before I could see that it was damaged. We took pictures of both items that were damaged filled out all the forms sent them in and what do you think. It was $750 to replace both items less $250 deductible and they said tough luck. You did not send in enough evidence and not enough paper work for them to pay. What a rip off!! We sent in all that was required, but not good enough to pay us a lousy $500. This would not even replace the mattress, nor replace my exercise bike. What a way to treat senior citizens on social security, we only wanted to protect our items not replace the whole shipment.
