They minimize the instruction, but you still get to drive the sled yourself. Look at the dang ole picture I posted. How cool is that? But it's yet another thing to mush (be dragged by) six out-of-control dogs that totally love running as much as you love being pulled along. First, you meet the dogs, all adorable. (Many were rescued from shelters, all of them want to run-run-run. And all of them are good with people -- these aren't exactly Iditarod dogs. Your sled will only have 3-8 dogs instead of the usual 14.) Then, after a few more basic pointers, mostly having to do with standing without falling and braking, you get your sea legs by "driving" the sled behind a snowmobile. There are 3-4 different loops and based on the time you have you can choose one path .. yellow loops are average difficulty .. it does have some path which is a little steep steps, but not difficult for middle age people.. might be a little stressful for elderly people with knee pain issues.. there is also a red loop which is a lot more of Walk and takes more time.. there are maps showing each path and approximate distance.. parking is a bit crazy, especially near the entrance.. parking is free.. tickets are about $21 which isn't too bad . Tickets are $22 per person, which feels a bit pricey, and bags are checked before you go in. The grounds have shops, picnic areas for lunch, and even a mining gemstone area for kids. Bathrooms are available, though they could have been cleaner. The experience itself isn't a typical hiking trail -- instead, it's a series of wooden walkways and bridges that guide you to each waterfall. The views are beautiful, but be prepared for crowds. On weekends especially, it can feel shoulder-to-shoulder most of the time. I'd only recommend bringing very well-behaved or small dogs since there isn't much room to move around people. We ended up leaving earlier than planned because of how packed it was, but I could see Bushkill Falls being a nice day trip, especially during the week when it's less busy. The waterfalls are definitely worth seeing, just go with the right expectations!

My family and I found this tour and though it'd be something cool to do while on our vacation. We…read morehad a really good time and it was very interesting and informative. The tours run consistently throughout the day so if you arrive and miss one, you won't have to wait long for the next one. There is a museum at the top of the hill but we did not have time to go through it. The tour starts with a ride down a miners car towed by a cable. It's not an original car to this mine but retrofitted from another mine and holds about 20 to 25 people. Everyone wears hard hats and if you want a hair net they have them. The tour is about an hour long give or take a few minutes and although I'm sure all the guides know their stuff, Patty was outstanding in giving explanations and answering questions. The mine closed in 1965 and the tourist tour opened in 1985. It is crispy cool and wet and dark and you get lots of views of how the mine operated. Remember, you only get paid for the coal brought out and the crew is expected to churn out about 8 tons a day with which is four carts overfilled. If you wanted to make things easier for yourself you can (like adding safety timbers or a gravity chute) go right ahead but that'll eat into your coal production and again, you only get paid for the coal. We learned about the mules, air shafts, child labor, sally doors, frogs, rats, canaries, and much more. In the area where you pay for your tickets, they also have a nice gift shop with very reasonable pricing, and a small snack shop. Tickets for August 2026 were $12 adults and a small discount for seniors and little children. My wife's pants dragged and now they're black with coal dust. This was a nice excursion to kill some time and we all learned a thing or two!

Just the two of us but we decided to rent the container for four people. Glad we did, it was just enough space. One thing to keep in mind is they don't provide utensils. Bring your own knife, fork, spoon, plates, cup, etc. The blanket provided is very thin. So either turn the heat on, or bring your own. Broken/missing blind from the window. Water was leaking frm the shower door. Walked out to a puddle on the floor. There was also a brownish stain in the toilet. It was a rainy weekend when we went. So we ended up having internet and wifi that first and only night only. Called and spoke with someone, was told there's an outage due to weather. The umbrella outside had a hole so didnt help much when we were grilling in the rain.
