I was not disappointed. Bob is very professional and friendly, you get a full break down of what he is going to do before he starts, before and after photos so you can see what he has done, and instead of sitting in the chair reading a poster on the ceiling you can watch your choice of films/TV on the provided video glasses while Bob takes care of your teeth. This isn't the cheapest dental practice I've ever been to, but it is certainly the best. My teeth isn't an area in which I'm looking to economise and sometimes you get what you pay for, in this instance I certainly feel this is the case. It's hard to convey how impressed I am with Blueberry dental without sounding like I work there, all I can say is you won't regret going and if you are wary of visiting a dentist then I think a chat with Bob would set you at ease. I can't see myself ever going to another dentist unless I move a very long way away.

However, while convenience played an important initial role in choosing this dental practice, it has given me a fantastic professional service over many years. I started off with Dr Hayes who has moved on to pastures new and over the last few years, my teeth have been in the very capable hands of Dr Stanley Fernandes. I've not encountered any major problems and the one big bit of work - root filling and crown onto one of my pre-molars was carried out painlessly and the porcelain crown is still doing its job well. They do most of the work on the NHS but charge more for some procedures such as crowns in order to keep costs down for children and less able patients. They only ask that you attend for 6 monthly check ups, which is fair enough. The practice has changed hands recently with the retirement of the Harkins. However, the surgery has moved on since their retirement and I was mightily impressed by their recent refurbishment when I attended for my 6 monthly check up today.

This atmosphere did little to calm me and I actually left without booking in for the work that was suggested. Further to the atmosphere and surroundings, I was actually recommended a root canal on one visit. I took a second opinion with a different dentist who (at a greater cost) did the work without the pain and trauma of root surgery. This work has been in there for 6 years without problem, so I am glad I went for the second opinion. I can not complain about the really friendly staff here - they were great.

Initially, slightly shy about letting a stranger look into my mouth (I am told) my parents would bring me here while Dr Smith a very amiable and calm dentist would count my teeth, give me a sticker and off I went home. I doubt this is common practice but it worked for me and since I have never had a problem with going to the dentist. The hospital deals in paediatric, orthodontic and specialist dentistry. It is run by the NHS so advanced booking is necessary and the time in the waiting room is by no standards brief, but the dentists here were always fantastic throughout the many years I was a patient here for. Excellent with children, excellent in what they do and thankfully I have not had a single problem with my teeth since.

I was referred here by my dentist for wisdom tooth extraction. It was a long time before I received…read morea letter with an appointment date and time (which could be changed on calling them, but I didn't need to), but apparently it takes up to 6 weeks for them to contact you after a dentist referral. My letter was followed by an automated voice message to my phone a few days before - reminding me of my appointment and asking me to confirm that I would be there. On the day the waiting time was minimal, the staff friendly and really put me at ease. I had an Xray (you have to remove all jewellery around the area - earrings, necklace etc, however I have a lip ring that I have never removed and they just worked around it). They provided an easy to understand analysis of my wisdom tooth situation, and the procedure I would need to go through, and said I would probably need another, 3d, xray scan to know how the tooth sits, before the surgery. A few days later I received my letter asking me to book my 3d scan appointment, which I did, and I arrived on the day and went straight in for the scan. Again, I could not remove my lip ring, and neither could the scanning staff, so they worked around it and it was fine. I am currently waiting for my letter to book the surgery itself. My rating will perhaps change after that! Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, efficient appointments (minimal wait!) Cons: Having to wait for letters to be able to schedule appointments - it creates a delay and a phone or an online system would be much easier! Scanning staff not being able to help me remove my lip ring haha.
