We were on our way home and decided to drop by quickly to check out the Mr. Rex attraction. It is close to Morongo and Cabazon Outlet mall. Funny thing is that they have a mini shop inside the pink dinosaur belly. On the left side of the dinosaur lead you to a mini outdoor museum. We did not purchase the tickets. I believed it is all outdoor. This is perfect for the little kiddos.

If you have little ones, this is a great museum to check out on your way home from Palm Springs. A lot of dinosaurs to see. Felt I was in a different world. Activities were offered at no additional charge like panning for gold and digging into sand looking for a rock with dinosaurs names to gain a prize. You will also have access to climb into the famous Cabazon dinosaur which was featured in Pee Wee Herman Movie. It was one of my highlight of the whole experience. Gift shop wasn't just any plain store, there were more dinosaurs inside it. Kids under 80 pounds could ride a dinosaur for a small fee. Lots of photos ops to take cool pictures for memories. Highly recommend to visit anytime you are in Palm Springs.

Went here on a drizzly evening over the Thanksgiving holiday mainly to see the giant dinosaurs from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Decided to stay for the evening holiday lights and walk around the whole park. It is $15 per person and one can argue if it's worth it or not. That depends...you have to go in with an appreciation of the sheer kitsch, take advantage of the photo ops and just be ready to enjoy the silliness of it all. You can see the two main dinos right from the parking lot but climbing up in the T-Rex and sitting in its mouth is part of the fee area. During the holidays they are festively painted. I do wish I got to see them in their regular state and might have gotten some better photos during the day. The rest of the experience included holiday lights, lantern style lighted dinos, festive music and just a good old silly time.

You can't get more Americana than this place. A classic roadside attraction featured in PeeWee Herman's Big Adventure, you can still climb stairs and sit in the mouth of the giant cement T Rex, call him MISTER Rex, and check out the view through his teeth. The owners paint the dinosaurs visible from the I-10 based on the season. They recently went from Valentine pink to vibrant green. We told the guy with the paint sprayer how much we enjoy seeing the color changes, and he said that was the acknowledgement he was looking for. Pay the entrance fee (helps support their paint bill-the dinosaurs are huge) and enjoy the botanic garden filled with various dinosaur statues and local live birds flying in to enjoy the flowers. You can ride a dinosaur in the gift shop. Signs throughout give you fun facts about dinosaurs represented.

This place was so much better than I expected! My son LOVED being able to guide us around the paths and check out so many Dino's. The "fossil" (rock) digging was a fun activity as well as the panning for gold (rocks). Walking up into T-Rex's mouth was so much fun! Overall great time. Not a place you really need to repeat your visit but one visit is worth it!

When visiting the Cabezon Dinosaurs you can make your way to Mr. Rex's Dinosaur Adventure. It's a little price. I believe it's $15 for adults and think $13 for kids over 2 and seniors. You walk around and see Dinosaurs on display with a little history and facts. They are pretty cool looking and as you walk the trail there are Dino noises. They also have a sand area to dig for rocks and if you find a rock with a Dino name on it you get a price. This is the only section you are allowed to clime into the big T-Rex and are able to look out its mouth. If you're around the area and don't mind dropping a couple bucks, check it out.

This place is to the point a dinosaur mini adventure. It was perfect for the kids ages 1-10. I had our family meet here for my daughters 3rd birthday. They allow you to bring in food/ beverages and have a lot of benches for lounging and eating purposes. The entire mini park took us 1.5 to explore. It's a very short maze, but it's a fun place to spend some time and take pictures. I would definitely recommend it for Dinosaur lovers. At the end of the maze you're able to climb into the t-Rex's body and mouth. It's very tight inside the t-Rex, but pretty cool. I only gave them 4 starts because the place could use a little improvement, but overall, it's a cool spot.

Don't expect a lot, but for the kiddos this was a really good time! I was actually impressed with the place. We spent about 1.50 hours there. You have rock digging and everyone gets a prize for finding a rock with a dinosaur name on it. You can pan for Gold and collect colorful rocks and put them in a small clear plastic baggie. My favorite was climbing upstairs and into the mouth of a giant T-Rex. They have animatronic dinosaurs that move. Its $10.00 for vets and first responders. Kids 2 and under are free. The place closes at 8:00 pm and last call to purchase tickets is 7:30 pm. This place is Gary Orange Tree Approved!

Roarrrrrrr! My kid loves dinosaurs and I saw this place on my friends Facebook. Made the drive out here and had a quick stopover at an outlet nearby. This place is right next to these huge dinosaurs that were filmed in a Pee Wee Herman show. Essentially it is a walking tour where they have all these dinosaur models. It will go for about 1 hour at most just watching the models. They also have a giant sand box where you find a rock they give you a free toy. I don't know if it's worth the drive but for me it was just to see my little guy so happy!

Of course you have to stop at this place because hello right about to go gambling don't waste your money Expensive food. Quickstop french fries And dinosaurs. Last time I was here I was here with my best buddy Sal. He passed away couple years ago so this will always be our spot Sal !

This is a must-go place when you're in Palm Spring. This dinosaur is voted the largest dinosaur sculpture in the world (can you believe it!?). They have 2 big dinosaurs in the park, including a big green T-rex and a long neck brown dinosaur. This place is in the desserts so the weather is hot and dry year round.

The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is due to the price. We went during Christmas time during COVID restrictions so it was decorated with Christmas lights - and we used it as an outing to get out of the house. It was nice that there was very few people, but don't think I'd have paid $37 for my wife, son, and I to walk through this site. The silver lining was checking off a 35 year old bucket list item of going inside the T-Rex that the scene in Pee-Wee's big adventure was filmed. It was fun to walk through the dinosaurs and Christmas lights. Picture with Santa (sleigh being pulled by a velociraptor was $10) and you either have someone in your party take your picture or an employee uses their cell and airdrops it to your phone with a Christmas border.

His workshop and living trailer are still there, surrounded by his artwork. You can get up close and personal, and touch whatever you like (since it's part of how the exhibit's age). But it can also be dangerous, with many pokey and sharp things, so need to watch out while wandering. Art is a subjective thing, and I would not have guessed that I would have enjoyed his exhibit as much as I did (especiallyl the exhibits involving bowling balls and/or toilets as the main materials). But as I continued to look at his pieces, kept wondering 'What was he thinking?....How did he envision this would look 20 years after creation, as the desert enveloped?', both from an overall macro level, but also from a detailed, day-to-day accomplishment perspective. The setting of the desert is as integral as the recycled material itself. And I couldn't help but think...'is this what a end-of-the-world scenario would look like?'. And as certain parts of the exhibit degrades, will the foundation fix it...or is that the natural progression of his art? There is a handout near the entrance that tells the fascinating story of the artist's life. It's well worth reading.

You do choose a time slot to enter, but due to traffic we were going to be a little bit late. We called and let the staff know and it was no biggie. Parking is a bit confusing since it's near a very busy road and residential area, so just make sure you're not parking where you can get fined or towed. After some confusion, we parked in the structure (unclear if allowed or not, but subsequently nothing happened. Phew!). The museum is located at the business plaza building and immediately stands out with it's beautiful storefront and the door that looks like it's out of a fairytale. Immediately we were welcomed by Sabrina, who was not only super informative (but in an easy to understand, not overwhelming way), but super friendly and made our visit that much more amazing. She knows the lore, knew the key and critical points to swoop in to enhance the magic (like when we went to ask the wise wizard some questions), and was very accommodating overall. The people really do make the magic. During your visit, you can opt to do the scavenger hunts and answer the riddles for some prizes and it varies in difficulty from easy to hard, but everything is open to interpretation based on YOUR IMAGINATION. It's the Museum of Make Believe for a reason. The attention to detail is immaculate, from the miniatures and dioramas, the foliage on the ceiling to the ground, and even in the water closet, there's so much to see and you can easily spend a long time just taking everything in. I won't include spoilers but I love that there's not just a lot to see, but to experience through sound and even smell! Lots of thought went into this museum and I'm glad it's getting expanded as well! Can't wait to see what the future holds for such a magical place!

Yet, at the same time, given the size and population of OC, it also makes perfect sense. Either way, I can't say I ever would've guessed it would be this nice, though! Just a shame that their exhibits didn't really blow us away... Located in the burgeoning arts and theater district of Costa Mesa, just down the road from South Coast Plaza, OCMA is such a gorgeous looking building. Sure, it helps that it's only a few years old, but the look of this place is no less impressive. Right out in front, there's a 65-foot art piece in the middle of the plaza that helps connect all of the neighboring buildings. Inside, there's a fairly large gallery space on the ground level with rotating exhibits, an upper level that appears to hold their more permanent collection of pieces, a coffee shop right next to the gift shop, and a rooftop restaurant with a large open area/garden. Sadly, though, as nice as the museum's design and amenities may be, though, much of the artwork was just okay. While the artwork upstairs was fine, the featured exhibits didn't really speak to us. Obviously, art is subjective, but one included pieces that appear to have just been drawn with a spirograph. The other consisted of several photographic series, whose commentary on social media I can appreciate, but felt exceedingly voyeuristic in nature - one following/semi-stalking a fellow after a chance encounter, another of strangers invited to sleep in the artist's bed so they could be photographed/documented, and a third showing the belongings of guests at the hotel she worked at. Artwork aside, the thing that I like most about OCMA is how admission is entirely free. So, in that sense, it's impossible to be too disappointed with the experience and/or what we saw. However, one thing to note is that you do have to pay if you park at any of the nearby garages, which are all unaffiliated with OCMA. For example, at the one on the other side of the Segerstrom Center, it cost us about $10 for two hours or so. Alternatively, South Coast Plaza is just a few blocks over and parking there is free, but I don't know how aggressive they are with towing and it feels like a big gamble just to save a few bucks. All in all, even though none of the exhibits were really our flavor, we still had a good time checking out OCMA. Oddly, there weren't many other visitors here when we arrived, but it did seem to get busier as the day wore on (there was a big group walking in as we were walking out) and we certainly didn't mind not having to deal with a bunch of crowds around. Plus, as nice as the museum looks, it's actually fairly small compared to others I've been to elsewhere. Since the featured exhibits have so much influence on the experience, I absolutely wouldn't mind coming back to see whatever they happen to have featured down the line. The ones they had when we were here may not have interested us, but the next ones might! Plus, it doesn't hurt that admission is free! All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.
