We had brunch this morning. The egg benedict was delicious though the portion was a bit tiny. Consequently, the price of the meal was not that cheap. We had lunch shortly afterwards which is pretty indicative considering that we were 3 ladies who are not big eaters. They have a variety of delicious hot chocolate In addition, the waiters very nice and friendly. It's a pity that the WC would need extra cleaning. read more

I had the chicken wrap and fries combo, which was unremarkable, but the reason why this is a 1 star review is because of the sanitation issues i saw all over the kitchen. For some reason there was a can of WD-40 on the same cutting board surface that my sandwich was prepared on. The wrap for my sandwich actually touched the can. As you can see in the other pictures I uploaded, the counter was littered with dirty dishes that were not being attended to during my visit. I also saw the owner's son preparing food for delivery orders who had returned from the store to buy frozen french fries and began preparing food without washing his hands. Would recommend avoiding this place to avoid getting sick. read more

I'm from Seattle and this place ha the best eggs I've ever had! It's a great local place that doesn't get too crowded during lunch and has a lot of great options! It's self sever so it's a little cheaper than other places around the area and it's cash only. read more

My wife and I wandered in here on our way to Hamburger Bahnhof. It was late in the day for lunch. I had the buffet with cous-cous, meatballs, vegetables, and spinach lasagne plus salad. My wife had a burger with french fries. We are used to better burgers coming from Philadelphia, but it was still very good and the fries were great. The buffet was not only an excellent blend of different tastes but also plenty generous for a lunch portion. We most enjoyed talking with the amiable owner, Tarek (sp?), who told us the name of his restaurant comes from the title of the Paul Auster novel. How cool is that! read more

So glad I went here for breakfast. It was delicious and the owner was extremely English friendly. Had the egg Benedict and the pancakes. Both of which I thought were the best that I have ever had. The pancakes are different than ones you would find in America, but in a good way! I don't understand why people are complaining about the prices. Pretty much everything was 7 euro or less. Portions could have been bigger, but this is not America. I would say the portions are no smaller than most other restaurants I've been to throughout Europe. AVOID AT ALL COST! Don't be fooled - like I was - by the attractive menu and the on-trend all-white decoration. If you look closer, you'll notice just how dirty the place is, especially at the back, where a bunch of dirty dishes lies around. And the flies! Flies everywhere, also on the food, and they don't seem to know what to do about it. The staff is friendly enough, but inefficient, even though the place wasn't packed. It took 30 minutes to get a coffee and we had to ask for our table to be cleaned. As far as the food is concerned, it was alright, although the servings were very small, especially for the price you pay - basically a rip off in Berlin, where you can still eat for cheap. We were scheduled to take the 7-hour train ride from Berlin to Copenhagen, and were worried about what we could take to eat on the train. We stopped by at Mr. Vertigo right before closing time (6 PM) on the day before we were set to leave, and asked Terrick (the owner) if we could come by at opening time (8 AM) the next day to get sandwiches for the train. Terrick was extremely friendly, and said that would work fine. My wife is gluten-free, and so he offered to buy some gluten-free bread for her, or told us where we could buy our own (which we did). We showed up at 7:50 AM the next morning, and Terrick was already there and invited us in. He made custom sandwiches (all of his sandwiches are custom-made) for each us, vegetarian for each of us, and using my wife's gluten-free bread for her sandwich. I think he gave us a discount for bringing our own bread, because it was only 9 euros for one large and two small sandwiches. Perfect place if you have dietary restrictions. Terrick was very friendly, perfect English, and we had a great chat about his business, the challenges of being self-employed in Germany, etc. We wish we had discovered Mr. Vertigo sooner! read more

A fantastic lunch spot with a convenient location and super friendly staff. Food is served buffet style during lunch. You choose either a small plate (6.50€) or big plate (7.50€). They have four warm meals every day, both veggie and with meat, as well as around 10 different sides. You simply tell the guy what you want and he piles the food into your plate until it's completely full. Portion size is not a problem. Not only that, but the food is really good. The spinach lasagna was excellent, and the red beet hummus was an interesting take on the classic chickpea dish. The staff is also extraordinarily friendly, which is a welcome departure for Berlin. Stopped in for a quick breakfast. I didn't want to wait and compared to the restaurants nearby it was almost empty. I ended up ordering a chai and bagel with cream cheese. The chai was good but the bagel was stale and tasted like it was days old.
