But I wasn't pleased with the education or admin at my daughter's school and just couldn't get the answers I needed. Granted you have to pay for services, but it is worth it. They assessed my child in the summer and their assessment results were dead-on to her school's assessment during same time. We started her 1 month into the new school year, and 7 months later we are more than happy. We saw a difference w/in the first week. Her confidence in her ability to know the work and do the work went up immediately. She had a math test 1 week after starting sylvan and she scored an 89, where she failed her first math test. I tell anyone and everyone, go to Sylvan. They know what they're doing. The kids love to go and they excel. This location in the Bronx is fantastic. They really care about the well-being of each kid and take interest in the parents too to understand what else can they do to help. They really go above and beyond. I had to take placement exams in math and English. English, no problem, use it all the time. Math on the other hand was a different story. I used it at work sure but I didn't have to factor. Quadratic formulas and multiplying complex fractions were things I hadn't done in close to 20 years so I needed some help. I found PWP at the suggestion of a friend who had experience with them. I hired them for basically one intense math review session. I forget the name of the tutor I had but she was on point. Prepared, had hand-out's and give me a great review of what I should expect on the exam. I didn't pass but that was my own fault. I took the info she gave me and crammed the heck out of it and I just missed a passing score. Not bad I thought since it was almost 2 decades since I bothered to look at this stuff. I really should have have a few more sessions and I'm sure I would have nailed it if I had. It was the absolute values that did me in I think. At the time I would put down 2 for an answer instead of |2| for example and after I finally did learn to do ALL the math I remembered thinking that I had a lot of those types of questions on my test. So if you need a tutor for yourself or your child I would highly recommend them. I saw improvement after only one session but really should have planned on more. They suggested it but I was too stubborn at the time thinking I could do it on my own (and I almost did too). I'm sure they will be happy to answer any questions you have about any tutoring needs you may have for your kid(s).

I called on a Friday, got a return call on Monday and a bio of a potential tutor that same afternoon. Daniel was my sons tutor who had availability to meet with my son at least 2-3 times a week. The sessions were incredible and he gave my son homework assignments to complete. My son completed the exam on the 20th and I truly believe he did much better due to the tutoring sessions, I would recommend this service to parents everywhere.

She motivated my boy very well and developed an excellent rapport with him. The tutoring was tailored to suit his individual needs and was at a very suitable pace for him. Homework that was set added to the overall effectiveness. His practice test ACT scores steadily improved as time went on. I am sure that his final score was much better than it would have been without the tutoring. The college preparation went extremely well, from help in identifying suitable colleges to the actual application process. She gave outstanding advice in crafting a great set of college essays, while being scrupulous in ensuring it was his voice that shone through. There were a lot of essays and ensuring we kept on the timetable was a very important part of the job, as was the advice on structuring and editing. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and my boy had a terrific crop of excellent admissions results and was offered some great scholarships. Fast forward to my son's last SAT score and it was a 1350!!!! He watched You Tube videos to help prep and I hired a private tutor @$50 for a few weeks. Do not get jaded by the info they sell. I would do my homework before paying these prices and they can't even guarantee a higher score. This was my experience for SAT prep so I cannot speak about the support for other services.

I rally didn't understand the dialect but got the jest of the play. The acting was good. I'll just keep this short and sweet and sum up my previous review. When I went to this school back in the early 2000s, the education was good and the professors were professional and on point with everything. I can't speak for how anything is now however. I can say this however with certainty (as this has not changed even since I was there), and that is that the environment will make or break an experience. The environment has a big hip hop vibe to it, and most of the students here (even to this day) are Dominican. If this doesn't fit you, you might not like it here. So be advised. If you don't care, then you'll probably feel fine here. Other than that, there's not much to say about this place.
