Nice, new building. Teacher turnover is really high and my child's classroom lacked structure.

The first few years of a child's life are such important learning years. When we moved to the area,…read moreit was imperative to us that we find a preschool with warm, caring adults in a christian community that support development and an educational curriculum, while allowing children to have fun and explore with curiosity. We found all of that (and more!) at Smyrna Christian School. SCS has helped our child learn how to play, work together, and establish great friendships. They have continuously provided materials/activities that interest our child (and challenge her!) They have encouraged our child's efforts (which has truly aided in adding to her confidence.) They set clear limits for behavior (which is appreciated!) I love always receiving our child's drawings, writings, and crafts at the end of every week. They encourage parental involvement (which goes back to the whole "community feel") and welcome parental participation with class parties. How beautiful is that?! I truly cannot say enough GOOD about this establishment. Before we found SCS, our only-child went to a "glorified daycare" preschool and for so long, we didn't know how much it was hindering our child. It wasn't until we moved and enrolled at SCS that we saw our child turn a complete 180 in every aspect of her life that we realized what EXCELLING truly meant. I am forever grateful for SCS (and my only complaint would be that I can't keep our child here for kindergarten, too!)

Every morning we are greeted with a smile and a "Good Morning" from Miss Jodi in the office, and all along the hallways my kiddo happily says hello to all the teachers. They're all very friendly and engage your child in conversation which makes them feel seen and heard, and important. She just loves talking with them on the way to her classroom. Her teacher is Miss Vickie, and she just adores her. She is kind and attentive, and a wonderful human being. My daughter has learned SO much this year, and she loves doing it! They learn Spanish, colors, numbers, writing, and she even comes home telling me about the fun centers they have in class, and how silly George Washington's wig is! I love how happy she is there, and how much she's grown in her independence and knowledge. I'm convinced that a better school does not exist. Truly, it has been the biggest blessing for our child. I wish they taught kindergarten so we could stay!!

Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience at the daycare. The owner was unprofessional…read moreand belligerent! She talks over you and wants to blame a two year old for a staff member falling in the class room. I won't go into all the details, but believe you me it has been reported and it will be investigated. As a someone in healthcare it is out of scope for someone that is NOT in the medical field to diagnosis and/or give medical advise if they are not the child's PCP or a professional in that field to diagnosis. I would highly recommend asking before you enroll your child what qualifications are needed for the teachers and what kind of training are they required to complete for employment. There were inconsistancies in what the teacher reported and what the owner told us. She was angry due to the incident that happened in the class room which require a work comp claim. That information should not have been disclosed to the parents. It is a requirement for employers to carry workcomp insurance for accidents that may occur. I really hope and pray that the staff get more training on how to appropriately care for children who may require more time to adjust to daycare or needed more guidance. I would recommend the owner also read up on and gain more knowledge about the ADA (American with Disability Act) and get familiar with it. Labeling a child as behavorial and/or accusing parents of a lack of parenting skills is offensive and unnecessary. I hope this never happens to anyone else. Of note , the parents are very involved in the child's life and took all the appropriate steps including parent meetings, interventional solutions at home, reinforcements, and referrals to speech therapy to eval the child's needs. This was explained to the daycare and they were aware of this. This is our experience which was not a good one. Both children were pulled from this facility due to the actions of the owner and the hostile actions she displayed. The male owner, however appeared to be more compassionate and did listen to our concerns and remained calm. That is why they get a 1 star.

I would recommend Aunty K's 100 times over. It was difficult to send my children to be in someone else's care but they made it easy and my children are thriving! The best decision my husband and I could have made. The staff is so kind and caring and the owners are a blessing. We prayed for a place that would care for our kiddos and that prayer was answered with Aunty K's

December of 2017, we took a tour of the facility and really liked what we saw and how things were done. We were looking for our son to start Pre-School August 2018 since he would be 4 then. We asked what we needed to do in order to get him set up for the Fall. We were told if we paid $50 in advance, that would "bump us up" on the wait list. Basically, paying at the time would guarantee our son a spot. Furthermore, if anyone were to leave between January-August, we would be one of the first people they contacted. We paid them the money and went on our merry way. I never heard anything back from them so in late July early August I called them to see what all I needed to have done to get him ready for his first day. The lady told me to bring by my application packet and that was all I needed to do. When I arrived, a lady told me "Well, Ms. Riddle unfortunately we do not have a spot for him in our Pre-K class. However, we can put him in a room with advanced 2-4 year olds (whatever that means) and one of the Pre-K teachers can bring him a homework packet every week. She said she was so sorry, but sometimes it just works out where they do not have a spot become available. We did not want him to be in a room with 2 or 3 year olds (no offence to the little ones). So, here we are a couple of weeks before the classes start and I have nowhere to take my son. I started calling around and thank God I found a place close that had a last-minute spot which opened up at Smyrna Christian School. If I had not found a place for him to go at the last minute, not sure what I would have done. At this point, I knew I no longer wanted my son to attend this facility. I stewed over this for a while. After speaking with my mother in law, whom has a friend and is a program evaluator with the State of Tennessee, said this whole thing with the $50 bump up the list thing was not normal and said I should make a complaint about it. She also said it was bad practice to tell someone they have a spot, in reality....they do not. I finally reached out to Little Miracles letting them know how I felt about it and asked for my $50 back if nothing else. I see in the contract there is a $50 non-refundable enrollment fee, but since he was never enrolled because he did not have a spot, I should get that money back.... right?? Anyone else feel that way? One of the ladies there asked me for a phone number and best time to call and discuss this. I have emailed her back 3 times letting her know and have not heard a word from her or anyone else. I would use caution if anyone out there is thinking about adding their child on a wait list for this facility. I have figured they will not give me back my money, so I want to at least make others aware of these shady people. I would NOT recommend his place. Bad business with untrustworthy people.
