Admittedly, I'm a voyeur when it comes to MSNBC. I tune in during times of crisis on the Left just to see how many crying towels and Valium smoothies they'll consume to rationalize their crumbling certainty. To be fair, I also get a kick out of the hand wringing on FNC when the Right takes it in the teeth. FNC patriarch Rupert Murdoch has often said that conservatism is far more lucrative... so ideological purity on either side is honestly an open question. Unfortunately for MSNBC, their corporate parent Comcast just announced that the network (and their other cable networks) will be spun off into a separate entity as a prelude to a sale so that their losses can be quarantined from the mother ship potentially losing free access to NBC News for reportage and coverage. A decade ago I used to be a regular viewer of Morning Joe as the former Republican Congressman would often tweak his C-suite-hearts and play it right down the middle. No more as his lucrative contract and bold face notoriety has made him a very predictable shill for his paymasters. Too bad. Well gang, you better crank up the Cuisinart because you're going to need gallons of those smoothies going forward. Good luck. read more

As an educator, I find it deeply troubling that MNBC has chosen to silence voices rather than foster dialogue. Their decision to fire Matthew Dowd simply because his perspective did not align with the dominant narrative is disappointing and telling. A healthy society thrives on open debate and the respectful exchange of differing viewpoints, but MNBC seems committed only to amplifying a conservative, right-wing agenda while shutting out mixed or dissenting opinions. Although I'm a fan of MSNBC evening news, the latest lineup since Rachel left daily, has been a real turnoff. The 4:00 Weeknight News with Michael Steele is difficult to watch due to the rapid delivery and annoying screeching of Symone what's her name. She's a pain to watch. And replacing Jen Psaki (sp?) for Rachel is disappointing. My dream team would be: At 4:00 move Chris Hayes to this spot. At 5:00 have Lawrence O'Donnell take over. At 6:00 either Alex Wagner or Jen Psaki. Of course, I'm referring to Pacific times. I truly have tried to watch the new lineup, but it is torture and extremely disappointing. Although I am a fan of the political news on MSNBC, I don't always relate well to each of the on air personalities that have regular shows throughout the day and night. I often wonder why they selected someone to host a show when their journalistic skills are questionable. I also understand that such judgments are highly subjective, and many may not agree with me. From early morning through late night, I offer the following: 5:00 AM ET - Kasie Hunt - Incomplete. I don't normally get up that early to see her work, but have seen her filling in or straight up reporting occasionally. 6:00 AM ET - Morning Joe (Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough) Mika, 3 Stars out of 5. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and doesn't pretend to be objective. I am sympathetic, but prefer my morning coffee black, without cream or sugar. Joe, 4 Stars. He brings political experience and decent intellect to the job. His opinion pieces are strong. His conservative background provided insight into how the right sees the issues of the day, although he has clearly moved to the left sitting next to Mika and marrying her. 9:00 AM ET - Stephanie Ruhle, 2 Stars. Far too argumentative with almost everyone. Her economics/finance background is not apparent. 10:00 AM. ET - Hallie Jackson, 3.5 Stars - Much better as a reporter than an anchor. She asks good questions and follows up sharply, but doesn't connect as well with her audience as most of the other desk sitters. 11:00 AM ET - Craig Melvin, 3.5 Stars. Solid anchor and reporter, who seldom seems to get the great interview, or offer tight analysis or opinion. 12:00 Noon ET - Andrea Mitchell, 4.5 Stars. She's been around forever, and hasn't lost her touch with securing good guests and asking tough questions. Chuck Todd, MTP Daily, 1:00 PM - 4 Stars. He loves politics and it shows. Sharp interviewer and excellent with election details. Yet, he seems a bit overexposed with a daily show and the legendary Meet the Press on Sunday morning, plus weekly podcast. Katy Tur, 2:00 PM - Incomplete. I don't watch her that often and she is back from maternity leave. What I recall is that she is smart and aggressive interviewer, who takes no guff. Need more time to see where she is now. Ayman Mohyeldin, 3:00 PM - 3 Stars. Fairly new as an anchor. Had been a weekender or spot fill in. He knows what he is doing, but hasn't gotten totally secure in his job. Still, he holds his own in tough interviews most of the time, but is too deferential to his heroes. Nicolle Wallace, 4:00 PM - 4 Stars. Coming out of the Bush White House, she brings her knowledge of republican perspective and books good guests who knew her when. Clearly getting more liberal over time (like Scarborough), and always treats her people well, except when a Trump shill tries to sell her day old meat. Ari Melber, 6:00 PM - 4 Stars. Like his legal training, which no other anchor seems to have. He is sometimes too clever for his own good, and allows himself to become the focus of the show, rather than his guests. Has the most diverse guests on the network, and they all have fun with him. Step Back Friday is a great idea. Joy Reid, 7:00 PM - 2.5 Stars. A new addition to prime time, The ReidOut is an hour of Joy following one or two issues each show, but not doing enough with them. Obviously bright, she doesn't mind ripping on her guests or the subjects of her reporting. She can be a bully. I can't watch an entire show. Chris Hayes, 8:00 PM - 5 Stars. The most intelligent anchor on the network, who is always modest in affect, yet possessing killer instincts. He can handle difficult guests and challenge the best obfuscators with surgical skill. Fun to watch him dissect an argument without leaving a scar. Does a very good podcast, too. Rachel Maddow, 9:00 PM - 3.5 Stars. Very hot and cold. High intellect, and she knows it. Often too smug about her abilities, putting off guests and viewers. Once in a while she knocks an interview or insight out of the park, but not often enough to hold my attention. Do appreciate her gender politics, but no longer watch msnbc's election coverage, because she doesn't bring enough political insight to the show. She's not a true analyst, but more an average commentator. Same is true for Reid and Wallace. MSNBC really needs to up its election night game. Lawrence O'Donnell, 10:00 PM - 2.5 Stars. Resting on his laurels as a person who worked on the Hill and knew the old Dems personally. Cool, but not much originality left on the bones, and he is not a particularly good interviewer. Takes too many cheap shots against Rs he doesn't respect. Brian Williams, 11:00 PM - 4.5 Stars. Like his tireless work ethic and diplomatic handling of guests. His nightly countdown of the days left until the next election and remaining in the current presidential term is like an old friend checking in daily. He is smooth, funny and brings long experience to the job of nightly circus master. read more

MSNBC has lost its edge and talent. The evening line up sounds more like those happy chat NBC morning shows than real news. I relied on the evening shows to highlight real news instead of what the other networks read from the newsfeeds. I liked the guest hosting at the 9 pm time slot but now they have another happy chat commentator, similar what they did to their 11 pm time slot. I am not sure what they are doing. Luckily the 4 pm to 6 pm Deadline White House remains unaffected. Holding the Monday 9 pm show open for Maddow seems ridiculous but maybe the same management decision not to let her show go entirely is what is at work for all the other post 6 pm shows. I find it more and more difficult to listen or watch their shows. Adding a fourth hour to Morning Joe should have been my first clue. Bye-bye MSNBC evening line up. read more

Just watched interview on Disney with Willie Guist. He is wrong about The Villages government being the same as Disney. Disney basically runs like a government within a government. The Villages has CCDs that were created to build the initial infrastructure and when residents buy thay have a bond that runs over a number of years, carry's an interest rate and is paid on property taxes. Each county that has Village properties (Sumter, Lake, Marion) does normal county duties (roads, police, fire, etc.). Hope a correction is made on any Disney news as you have just misinformed the public on the differences between CCDs and Disney's structure on the former Reedy Creek agreement. read more

We value the often very capable guests and contributors on MSNBC but are frequently frustrated by the conduct of some of the hosts who pose questions and then almost immediately interrupt the guest, talking over the guest's response and also arguing with the guest's response. The host is not the newsmaker. The guest is. Let us hear what guests and contributors have to say before you challenge them. We are also weary of the seven-sentence "questions," presumably written by producers, that go on and on, way past the time the audience and the person being asked the question have caught on to what is being asked. The guest sits patiently waiting for the interviewer to finish his or her soliloquy before he/she can begin to respond. The best MSNBC hosts respect their guests while still asking pertinent follow-up questions. The others seem to want to BE the news. We seek more of the former. read more

MSNBC is fine overall, but Rachael Maddow has become a yellow journalist, sensationalizing nothing to create a scary story. She has been getting worse but the story on the nazi's in florida was just too much. Maybe 20 people at the most and she keeps playing the same clips over and over to scare jewish people. All she did was give the AH's air (like the news did with Trump) and scare Jewish people. Was the hatred displayed ok. Not in my opinion. If you can't get words in the correct order, how can viewers expect that you will get more serious issues correct? Not an isolated incident, if you require consultation for this issue-I'm available. I follow MSNBC, mainly for Lawrence O'Donnell. Rachel Maddow is now more attractive to me, now that she tuned down her tone of "yelling" while reporting. Brian Williams, is a downside for the station. With his history of lying ( and being outed by his lie), I have a hard time watching him on MSNBC, with the "authentic" persona he attempts to show. It's not believable, given his deception in the past. I hope MSNBC decides to extricate from Brian Williams. read more

We listen to Morning Joe regularly and use to love it. However, of late Mika especially is driving us crazy. Her behavior acting like a little girl and flirting with Joe and Joe acting weird has us on the fence to whether to continue watching. Seems like Mika needs a lot of attention. Please be careful of MSNBC Studios if going to a live taping at Rockefeller Center.  Now that we are coming out of covid, I am fearful what happened to me will happen to someone else if they start those live tapings again. To summarize they basically picked on me because I was alone and well dressed, accused me of being drunk or on medication and then threw me out.  I was really escorted out of Rockefeller Center by security guards.  This was after they surprisingly gave me a prime seat upfront.  I told them I wasn't drinking or on medication and they didn't believe me.  Head security guy with earpiece started raising his voice in the end because he got frustrated my "drunkenness" wasn't showing.  I was simply talking to him about what was going on, which was enough to get him agitated. They replaced me with a girl in a hoodie in the seat I was in as I spotted on TV later.  I sent letters about this and tried to e-mail at the time, but there is nobody to speak with especially since covid just began.  Just thought to update this yelp review now since this is coming to light for me again and don't want it happening to anyone else. read more

It seems that since she got engaged to Joe, it somehow has given her super powers for butting in, and pretty much contributing little to a conversation, thereby interrupting the guests and whatever they want to say. I have enjoyed MSNBC for years. I enjoy the different personalities of the hosts, as well as bringing different guests and views to the table. But....I honestly have to mute the tv every time Mika speaks. She demeans people, and is so self-absorbed and completely overly dramatic. At times, so angry, and other times, sounding like a "poor me" victim and almost in tears. If she does not like what is happening in politics, maybe she should take a vacation for a few years. As a viewer, I turn to the hosts, to bring calm and (unbiased, if possible) explanations and questions to help me understand what is happening in our world. If I wanted a drama queen, I'd watch soap operas. I don't understand what value she brings to Morning Joe. She is not entertaining - at least a 6 in the morning. Unfortunately, I enjoy almost all others on the show, and continue to watch. But thankfully I have a mute button. read more
