A nice little oasis within the city, lots packed into this park: trails, disc golf, an arboretum, a pond, playgrounds, the treehouse, and picnic spots. The treehouse was pretty cool to see and near the treehouse was where we started our hike. Plenty of ups and downs on the trail that we went on. I'm not sure if I struggle at following the trail signs, but went the wrong way a couple times and think that the trail that we were trying to follow had multiple names. All was fine though, got to do a bit more exploring. The creek is pretty dried up. I would have liked more signage for hiking trailheads at the entrance of the park, so head to the left (as if you're going to the treehouse) at the entrance if you want to hike. Disc golf looks like it'd be really good here, I hope to come back and try it out. read more

This is the awesome Park Forest area that my family and I visited while we were in the area. It has many beautiful trees and walking past and sceneries and photo opportunities and just a bunch of fun beautiful nature sites. It is definitely worth checking out it is definitely worth taking your family if you like seeing nature going on trails and hikes and playing. I definitely recommend it read more

Mt. Airy Forest is a wonderful part of the Cincinnati Parks. I have visited this park twice now, once with a friend for a hike, and most recently with my class for a field trip. On our field trip we visited the part of the park nearest the tree house. We ate lunch at the picnic tables near the playground, then we gave the kids some time to play. They loved the playground- especially the climbing aspects, and the merry-go-round. We then went on the trail, and down to the creek. The creek was mostly dried up, but it was a perfect spot to look for fossils. Added bonus- when you're on the trails, you're deep enough in the woods that you can't hear traffic. read more

I knew I needed to update this review after hiking some of the trails in order to escape my own home during COVID-19. I've long been a fan of Mt. Airy Forest for how untouched it feels. On a run that turned into a walk (cause homegirl needs to run more, apparently), I was able to walk a couple of trails. Both of them were pretty well maintained. I will say that if you're hiking within a day or two of rain, wear hiking boots or prepare to get your shoes muddy. I have to imagine that these trails are a little muddy more often than they are not. As long as it isn't too wet thought you can relatively easily jump and skip around the muddiest parts to keep your shoes clean. If you don't want to get muddy at all, there's tons of pavement to walk and some areas are blocked off to traffic. During Covid-19, it was great to see folks out and about enjoying the great outdoors. I have always wanted to give disc golf a try and definitely want to make plans to come try out the course at Mt. This is a fantastic park structure in Cincinnati. First, it's huge!!! It has so many trail options at varrying difficulty levels. But the biggest draw is likely "everybody's treehouse". It's a beautiful tree house that is wheelchair accessible so that physically disabled guests can enjoy it as well. There is also an area called "the oval" with a large playground area for children. This would be a great place for a picnic or group outing or just for a hike in the woods. read more

Mt. Airy Forest is one of the great hiking venues which is part of Hamilton County Parks. There is no entrance check so annual car sticker is not needed so far to enjoy this area. As you enter from Colerain Avenue just south of North Bend Road, there are three main roads to enter the park. If you turn to the right and drive down the road there is an arboretum and facility where I have attended events. Also on the end of that road is a frisbee golf shop and that part of the park has a wonderful frisbee golf course where very recognized competitors enjoy the sport. If you drive straight into the park from the entrance there are trail entrances, parking and eventually it gets to another road that will take you left or right out of the park. The third road to the left after you enter off Colerain Avenue is many no outlet roads where there is a playground, shelters, many miles of hiking with nice elevation changes on the " stone steps", and a tree house. I love this park compared to many of the other City/ County parks! read more

This spot has been on my list for a while. The weather was so mild today that I decided to check it out. It's such a peaceful and huge park. My dog and I truly enjoyed the walk through the woods, and we eventually found the famous treehouse for all (pictured). It hasn't rained in a few days, but I can see how it would get realllllly muddy on the trails in the woods. I do wish the trails had better descriptions and were marked better; they were a tad overgrown as well. I'll definitely go back. read more

I had heard of this but never had a chance to come. It is huge, and beautiful, and if you live in or visit Cinci you should definitely check it out. We met a friend here, at the arboretum area. Small parking lot, nicely landscaped areas all around with great views. We saw assorted birds including hummingbirds, got ideas for our gardens, and generally enjoyed the surroundings. Peaceful and beautiful. It is not super accessible for strollers, people with wheelchairs, etc., so be aware. You can move a little ways from the lot, but some of the really great views have steps. I would guess the park was built in the '40s or '50s, and such things were not considered then. You can see a fair amount just from your car, but you really should get out and walk around. Would be a great spot for wedding pictures, family photos, etc. I'd love to have this in my city, and will come back when we are in town. read more

Amazing hiking experience! The only thing I would recommend is looking at a map of the trails beforehand and timing it right. We unfortunately took the wrong trail by accident as it was getting dark and walked for an hour in the pitch black before calling the police. This was my first visit to Mt. Airy Forest, and it won't be my last. I went on a 4.5 mile hike, and saw only a small portion of the trails through this giant park. I really appreciated how well marked all of the trails were. At every intersection there is a signpost and the signage is great about pointing toward landmarks in the park like the oval and the treehouse as well as parking and picnic areas. The "E" trail is marked with white hashes on the trees, which is convenient. I was weaving back and forth between multiple trails, but there seems to be something for everyone as far as hiking. I walked several flat, wide trails as well as some very tough, vertical ones (those stone steps are no joke!). The forest itself is gorgeous and I'm not very bird-saavy, but it seems to be a great place to bird watch. Even my untrained eye identified a bevy of cardinals and a couple of woodpeckers along the trail. Even though it was a busy spring day, I only encountered maybe ten other people on the trails making for a very peaceful hike. The treehouse is very cool, and totally accessible. I didn't stick around to grill or picnic, but the park was packed with families having cookouts... something on my to do list. read more

Mt Airy Forest is a special Cincinnati public park. It can be yours! The park has several entrances and numerous picnic areas. I met up with a meetup in one. Want to escape the city but can't afford a trip? Check out this AMAZING and HUGE park! Trails, disc golf, a treehouse, playground, and so much more! Half of the park isn't dog friendly, so we had to skip that side, but the rest was great! We hiked trail E-H to the oval. Our original spot for a picnic happened to be in the middle of the disc golf course, so we had to move, but it was nice while it lasted. Notes: the garden area is a dog free zone. NO alcohol. It gets busy on nice days, so be prepared for human traffic. read more

City escape oasis. If you want to reconnect with nature and feel like you've traveled to the wilderness, but don't have the time to drive far, this is a good place. You will be reminded you are in the city every once in awhile by passing car that needs new muffler, and sure there is the occasional weirdo, or coyote, but if you are uncomfortable, practice my rule and hike with friend or protective pup. I come here only because it is close to my house. There are some great features, but the bad seem to outweigh the good. I tried to take my dog hiking here, and we couldn't go on any trails. Some are so overgrown there's only about 2 inches of trail to walk through. Every single trail I tried to walk on had A LOT of broken glass on it. I don't want my dogs paws to get cut up, so we walked on the road which was nice, but I was hoping to do a little hiking in the woods. I really wish this park was kept up better, and it would be a great place to frequent! read more

After reading about Everybody's Tree House online I went on the hunt to see it for myself! I was looking for the Tree House and I couldn't find directions online to save my life! I drove around for a while before finally stumbling upon it. It is a genuinely awesome tree house that is also fully wheelchair accessible! Such a nice park and it was free to get in! We didn't get to hike to see the treehouse but we played disc golf. They have an 18 hole course. My boyfriend and I were just amateurs and enjoyed but the course is definitely not kid friendly (more for experts). Next time, we will definitely try the hiking trails. read more

The disc golf course is definitely one of the best in the area. Talked to many players that come from 50+ miles away to play it. Fun and challenging layout. One downside is the clowns using the picnic areas don't do a good job cleaning up after themselves. So you may have to walk past a few empty bottles or food scraps or worse...but besides that, great course! The disc shop (Nati) is pretty cool too. read more

I grew up going to day camp in Mt. Airy. When I was 10 we followed our teenage leaders on a hike that took us deep into the forest, down a creek and through large pipes that ran under the highway. We weren't supposed to travel so far but it illustrates the size of this park and Arboretum located minutes from the city. Mt. Airy is the cities largest park and is host to a lot of wildlife so watch for deer when driving in or around the park. The hiking is beautiful throughout all the seasons but I favor the winter and spring walks. Rough trails are plentiful, marked and reasonably maintained. read more

Mt Airy Forest features a well established and respected Disc Golf Course, arguably the best on the Ohio side of the river. It's nice and long, and has many nice, mature tree lined holes as well as a few long field throws. This park is very beautiful and somewhat well maintained, has decent well spaced bathrooms too. It is not well patrolled however and you'll see people let there dogs go free. It is NOT a dog park! The trails would be awesome if I wasn't concerned about dogs running up to me growling. (As has happened several times) Vehicles are supposed to stay off the grass yet I often see cars parked for hours way off the blacktop. Between the pitbulls and Rottweilers running loose...And cars parked whereever they please....I cannot say this is a "family" safe park. The children's areas all have swingsets and fun equipment for kids, you just don't know when someone's bulldog will come running after as child growling. When people do park on the street they park on both Sides of the road...Makes it hard to drive through. Lots of wildlife though, deer, raccoon, wild turkey, squirrels & the like. read more

My husband and I went hiking there a few days ago. It was clean, family-friendly and beautiful. We hiked "Circle," first (easy), then ended up on "Square" and "Diamond." It got pretty challenging. Extremely steep hills that seem never-ending, with huge twisted roots everywhere, but once you get to the top you feel pretty great. Out of breath and legs on fire, but great, also. We'll be back but with some hiking boots, next time. Wore gym shoes and repeatedly slipped, kept coming close to straining my ankle on the steep down-hill trek, the roots can really trip you up. read more

On a whim I decided to go for a Sunday afternoon hike, and decided to check out Mt. Airy Forest. It's very close to downtown and gas over 1,400 acres of of land featuring trails, activities, shelters and more. The best feature though is a big beautiful park in the middle of an urban area. It was the perfect quick escape for an afternoon. The trails were well marked and went though beautiful areas. I will be back soon! read more

Very nice park with easy access from Colerain and a number of small picnic areas. Mostly I just visited because it is also a good place for playing Pokemon Go with lots of pokestops, 3 gyms and lots of monsters to catch. Happy hunting! read more
