    Concert night!
    Rebecca M.

Updating my review from 2 stars to 4. Why? Because of the work the city of Mt. Washington has done to flip this park. Each week there is a small but growing Farmers Market on Saturday mornings where local businesses showcase their goods. On select Friday nights, a variety of musicians and bands light up the park. The council has done a lot to promote family time in the park, especially with starring Zac Morgan for concert night and starting "movie night." People are encourage to fill the park to deter those unwanted guests (sadly, drugs). It's getting better!!!

Stanberry Park is jewel inside the outer neighborhood of Mt. Washington in Cincinnati. Mt. Washington sits on a hill above the Little Miami River and this park stretches from the center of the neighborhood all the way down to the river. Stanberry has several trails that lead you through the woods and then back out again. There is a gorgeous creek that winds through the woods and ends up in the river. The front of the park was recently redone. There used to be just a field, but now there is a nice jungle jim and pathways that go around the field. In the back of the park there is a spacious pavilion and lots of picnic benches and grills that make for a nice cookout in good weather. There used to be a house on the grounds that was the Stanberry family's house and it stood boarded up for years after the land was donated to the city for the park. After a recent visited I discovered the house had been removed. Growing up I had so many good times in this park from creek walking, to trail blazing, swinging on the swings to playing football in the field. It's a great place to relax and get some exercise!

    Driedout creekbeds abound!

Wow I completely agree with Alexandra K, Stanberry Park is a jewel in Mt. Washington! I had knowledge that there was a park here for quite some time (since for almost two years I drove down sutton from beechmont on my way to work) but I never investigated. We were on our way to explore California Woods last weekend only to discover that it was closed for "wildlife management." On a sunday morning... booo... (as elmer fudd would say they "were hunting wrabbits" or deer or whatever I'm sure) So we were not to be swayed on our quest to find a new trail/park/wildlife-adventure on the east side and yelp'd parks in Mt. Washington. And our discovery of the wonderful Stanberry Park begins! Stanberry is in great shape! It appears to be well maintained and some money has been invested in the trails, bridges, markers, playground, etc. They have a few short paved walks in good condition with distance markers set into the path on nice "Cincinnati Park Board" markers. - 0.5mi distance to the shelter and back. - 0.13mi distance around the oval once. They have a nice playground area with some swings and a restroom building (however I can't speak to its quality since we didnt use it). They also have a larger shelter built back into the woods with lots of grills and picnic tables around. I think the gold star on this place is the actual woodland trails blazed throughout the woods and that follow the creekbeds that wander back in the woods. The trails are mostly a simple single-track with some trees and things laying across the path but mostly they have cut away trees that have fallen. There aren't a lot of roots or things and it is not too steep in any one place. There are some rebuild bridges and some stairs built into areas where such things are required to make the trail simpler. I'm still not sure how far the "A" trail loop is, judging from a map and our time spent I would say somewhere on the order of 1.25 to 1.75mi but I may be long. There do seem to be some breakoff trails and a mysterious "B" trail that we couldn't find but we didnt look too hard. Overall, we will definitely be back to Stanberry and I recommend that you take your dog for a walk there or bring your kids for a wander through the woods, you will enjoy it.

I am so lucky to live within walking distance of this wonderful park. And the crazy thing is most people, even in Mt Washington, don't even know about it. It is definitely a hidden gem with wonderful hikes that go all the way to the little Miami river with creeks and wildlife galore. I love taking my dog here - dogs should be leashed but every once in awhile I'll unleash her just so she can bound around the forest and enjoy the fresh water too if no one is around. This park also has a playground in the front and picnic table/shelter in the back for those with kiddies. Ps it is probably better known for its amazing hill for sledding in the winter! PPS it is actually spelled stanbery but since reviews are out I just went with it! If you google it either spelling will get you there ;-)

Fairytale-like house [Cincinnati OH]…read more We couldn't just drive-by this whimsical house without stopping and doing a double take... and staring. This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. The house is currently not on the market and occupied as a private residence as of 2021. Here are the deets in Zillow: 1 beds, 1 baths, 1,260 sq-ft. If you are curious about the inside of the home you can click on this link and watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/pVUFwH9Q6fk Review #3885

It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. Use your fairytale imagination to guide you inside. Happy travels!

A wonderful location to view the bustling activity along The Ohio River Trail, and a place to gather and celebrate as a community. The park boasts multiple water play features, giant swings, an interactive foot piano, an imaginative play area for kids, expansive pollinator gardens, and Carol Ann's Carousel. Several historical monuments can be found like the Black Brigade Monument and the recently dedicated Marian Spencer Statue. I was on a roadtrip and my family dropped me off in downtown Cincinnati and I gravitated to Smale Riverfront Park because I wanted a place to explore nature and see river views. I explored the scenic walkways along the Ohio, flower gardens, fountains, public art, picnic spots, and plenty of space to just chill. One of my favorite features were the riverfront swings, big, bench-style swings tucked along the water that are perfect for kicking back and enjoying the view. They're surprisingly comfortable and such a great spot to unwind and reconnect with your inner child. The park has amazing views of the Roebling Suspension Bridge and Ohio River are worth the visit on their own, the paths are wide and great for families, and there's lots to explore without feeling overcrowded. There are splash zones for kids, places to sit and picnic, and tons of photo ops.

The riverfront was very peaceful. The park was clean. I couldnt find how to access the ferry.read more
