We've had our two dogs (both Dalmatians) in the care of the team at MT Tam Dog Company for several years now and we're really happy with their service. Erin and Dave - the two founders of this business - are very approachable and super responsive, which is something that I really appreciate. At first, we only had one dog (Momo) and before they accepted her into the pack, Dave came by our house to "interview" her. I really enjoyed meeting him and listening to the philosophy behind the business. Later, when we got a puppy (Málaga), he came over again and checked her "compatibility" as well. What I really enjoy is getting email notifications when they come to pick up the dogs as well as when they drop them off. Sometimes they even leave little notes, such as this one: "Momo and Malaga did super today! Malaga didn't pull hardly at all, and Momo was very easy as always. We had a fun hike :)" Just recently, they also introduced dog boarding and we had a very good experience with that as well. I went to see a doctor to make sure that the puncture wounds and bleeding weren't going to be a problem. At the time I was bitten the owner the company let me know he would be happy to help. A couple of months later, the bill for under $200 arrived and I asked David L to pay it as agreed; but he was singing a very different tune. It's impossible to recount the endless ways that this business has gone above and beyond. Dave began walking our dog, Max, in 2012 (through another company) when we moved to Marin. As soon as we met Dave, we knew he'd be instant friends with Max (our vivacious golden mix). He asked the right questions, and took the time to get to know Max's behavior and exercise needs. After 6 years with Dave/Mt. Tam, we couldn't be happier. Knowing that Max is with his pack and the pack leader everyday at Mt. Tam warms my heart. Beyond being friendly, Mt. Tam walkers have a high level of integrity (a tribute to great hiring, and influence by Dave and Erin). As sweet as Max is, he's been in a few scuffles over the years. With any incident, Dave has called and texted in full transparency. He's timely and honest in his communication, which is exactly what one needs from a caregiver. Recently, Max (now 8) was diagnosed with cancer and had a tumor removed. Dave was just as pained with the news as we were. Max was out from walking for about a month. During that time, Dave checked in regularly, and even offered to drop by to give him some attention and exercise (on the house). He did this because he cares. A lot. His care goes beyond taking care of the dog. He cares about you, your family, your life. This company is like no other. Mount Tam Dog Co. has been the most reliable, and my dogs Benson and Bear (the two on the right) are always excited to go on their hike! I initially inquired about dog walking service for one of our dogs-our big and energetic labradoodle-Dave responded right away, came over to our house and we had a great discussion about our needs. We worked out the scheduling and were set up with a wonderful dog walker, Eddie, who started to walk our doodle. I could tell my doodle was happy and yet tired after walks. What I didn't realize right away is that my other dog, a tibetan terrier with a big personality, really got to know Eddie and was looking forward to seeing him and even joining the doodle. I decided to give it a try-and the terrier absolutely loves her walks now! They both know when Eddie is close and sit and wait for him! Eddie always greets them by their names-sooo sweet! I even trick my dogs sometimes by saying "Eddie is here" and that stops all barking outside and gets them both immediately inside the house to the door. Eddie is such a sweetheart! He really cares about these babies! I totally recommend Mt Tam Dog! Can't thank enough these guys for working with me on all occasions when i need emergency pee-pee walks when I'm stuck at work. Bikers, hikers, runners and dogs--the trails of Mill Valley are gorgeous, but you have to learn how to share. Mt. Tam Dog Company has mastered the concept, and I'm very appreciative. Is it strange for someone without a dog to rate a dog walking company? Here's the thing: as a hiker and a mountain biker, I see a lot of people with their dogs. I can't count the mornings that Dave from Mt. Tam Dog Company has brought a group of dogs by me or I have swooped (slowly!) past him on my bike. The dogs don't lunge or growl--they are under control and they all look like they are smiling. Even a non-expert can feel the relaxed and happy vibe. I appreciate feeling secure as we pass each other. If only I could say the same about all of the dogs I meet! Do your dogs a favor. MTD is incredible! We've used other dog walking services in the past, but MTD goes above and beyond. They provide detailed reports from every walk including pictures. My dog is out for multiple hours and I know she's getting great exercise. I love their app too, it alerts me when my dog is picked up/dropped off so I know exactly when she's out. All of the walkers are super friendly and the owners (Dave & Erin) are extremely responsive and helpful. Erin was already with a customer, but excused herself to greet me, that is so important to me and she has won a customer for sure. What can I say?? This company is the BEST for the VERY best in my life. We started with Dave with two Golden's. This is right at the beginning (close to 10 years ago!)! Hutch was a maniac and Kimo was getting older. They were able to give hutch black diamonds and Kimo green circle trails but never ever pushed either dog. Their communication was always open and honest. They always trained any new hires with incredible care and training. Dave and ERIN are passionate about dogs. They have a magical way of truly looking out for each dogs special interest. It got to a point that walking was too much for Kimo and Dave (never ever in it for money) talked to me looking out for kinks best interest. They stopped walking Kimo and hutch continued on. Kimo passed away two years ago but every Walker always gave Kimo a huge hug when grabbing Hutch. They are so honest and I trust them in my house and true professionals. I've seen them out on the trails on off days and they have full control of all dogs, dogs hydrated and dogs so happy. The dogs are returned, paws and body cleaned and Hutch always wanted to go for more! When Kimo was DX with cancer Dave came over with a bag worth of dog treats for Kimo. I burst into tears as it was such a genuine gesture. Two years ago after Kimo passed away we rescued Ginger who was 1.5 and a maniac love. Over the past two years Hutch has slowed down and Dave again was the person who talked with me that his back legs were giving up. Again, Dave put Hutch's health and well being over personal gains. Hutch is enjoying his senior years as Ginger takes her turn on the gorgeous trails of Marin with Mt Tsm dog. The very very best marin has to offer! If there is space grab it for your pooch.
