The houses are created with so much care and were genuinely terrifying (but in the best way). Their house of horrors is a multi-roomed homage to horror cinema that is visually engaging, scary, and FUN! And their longer haunt, self-named "Hell's Gate" is 5 football fields' worth of spooks... between its pitch black hallways, the light physical contact from its scare actors, and its sound design I was fully sweating... and the fact that you're physically in the woods only adds to the horror. Add in some fantastic staff and other fun activities like axe throwing and "zombie paintball" and this place just simply rocks. Highly highly recommend! P.S. Including photos of a few beautiful sets from this haunt but these are truly the only ones I got because the rest of the time I was running for my life lol.

The coordinators literally just created 1 huge line that takes hours to get through for no reason. No street vendors or entertainment outside of the houses anymore. Haven't been in a few years hence why I didn't know about the armband or general boringness of the current experience but I imagine it'll be my last time.

We were told to stand in the same line as people who didn't buy tickets ahead of time. No warning of this line. They just take your money and assume you'll either give up or spend your entire night in a line an half of a mile long. Absolute joke.

When you get there, there is a video on the screen. That is NOT what it's like. Thank Goodness !! He looked at that video and was even more livid. Although The Beast offered more thrills, it still didn't live up to the hype or the hefty price tag. A good beginner's house, is how I'd describe it. It's fact, that the original owner of "Poe's Chambers" died in the elevator shaft while doing general maintenance on it. It's also fact, that the coffins used in the "coffin room" are real, once-had-someone-buried-in-them, coffins. They should really capitalize on those two facts to enhance the creepiness of this haunted attraction. They do not even mention it, to my knowledge. Furthermore, something that could be done to enhance the scare factor, is to explain the Poe stories a bit better. Develop the plot. Signs on the wall, a running commentary. A pamphlet they hand out to people in line... I realize the point is to move people through, but there has to be a way to tell the stories better. Maybe a recommendation on the website to read Poe's stories. I haven't read anything by Poe since high school, some 15 year ago. The props in the rooms, although well done, were lacking in any explanation and would have held more "punch" if there had been some instilled fear behind them. Some understanding. I heard people in line talking about the Tell-Tale Heart - they didn't even know the name of the story or any of the details, except something about being buried alive. And, without knowing that, or understanding what you're experiencing afterward in the house - what is there to really be scared of? It's just a maze with some eerie scenes thrown in, a lot of flashing lights and some obstacles to crawl through, but definitely lacking in the spook factor. So, if it's your first time ever experiencing a haunted house, read some Poe stories and then go. Enjoy this and build up to the real thing, a few blocks down and around the corner. If you've already been to the "granddaddy of them all", do not waste your money here. You'll be unimpressed, I fear.

Proceeded to ride Zambezi Zinger and Viking Voyager with fast pass. Got into the FP line for Mamba. Proceeded to watch the employee let everyone in the non fast lane in before us. Comes over to tell us we have the wrong color wristband on. I explain this is what we were given and we have already ridden rides with it. They say supervisor will not allow us to ride, we have to get new updated bands. Trek back to the photo booth at the end of Mamba to get new bands, trek back up. This was one of the better rides in the park and a favorite from when I was a kid. Rides we rode and thoughts: 1. Cyclone Sam's- no fast pass but can hold a lot of people. Appreciated the a/c 2. Flying dutchman. Only rode since there was no line and appreciated the breeze 3. Fury of the Nile-was closed at the beginning of the day, opened. Appreciated it had fast pass. Please get the poor employees who work down there some shade. I felt so sorry for them. 4. Le Taxi Tour-says on their website has fast pass. it does not. Can take a while since families will have 10 different cars so every person in the family can "drive" 5. Mamba-see above 6. Patriot-had fast pass. Best ride there 7. Prowler-had fast pass. Pretty rough 8. Spinning dragons- has fast pass but you have to buy it? Band you buy for the day does not include it. LAME 9. Timberwolf - on their website says it is on fast pass but they do not have fast pass. ride closed while we were in line. Sad as this ride was around from when I was a kid and I wanted my kid to ride it. 10. Viking Voyager-had FP, used it, didn't need it. Was different than I remember it as a kid. Didn't get wet. 11. Zambezi Zinger-different than when I was kid. It was a good ride. Rides that were closed: 1. Skyliner- this is a ferris wheel 2. Steel Hawk-swings 3. Zulu-closed, one of my favorite rides when I was younger. 4. Scrambler-why is this on Fast pass? it was closed 5. Sea Dragon Rides we skipped cause we like the thrill rides: 1. Autobahn 2. Bamboozler- I wanted to ride for memories, kidlet said no, too similar to ride where we live 3. Detonator-it is so small. Like why is the tower so tall but the ride only goes up a small height? Ride similar to this where I live is 100 feet taller 4. Fjord Fairlane 5. Mustang Runner-on FP 6. Nordic Chaser Kidlet tried to get an icee but it took over 30 minutes because people kept cutting them in line. Found another icee place and got an icee. Kidlet said person working there was basically giving them to everyone for free. Did not eat at this park. Had up close parking and when I told the person they sent me to the same lot everyone else is parking in. Was sad that a place that held such fond memories from when I was a kid, was so unpleasant to visit as an adult. I don't live any where near here so will not be returning.
