My favorite church! I've been going on and off for 40+years and it's spiritually moving to worship God here. Big, clean church with great music and great people. I'm a little biased because I grew-up at Mt. Zion, but Pastor Loren is a true servant of the Lord. Today, as a pastor myself, the metaphor I use when describing my burden to preach the Word comes down to this: people need fresh bread. And at Mt. Zion, that's exactly what you'll receive. No "stale crumbs" here. Pastor dedicates an entire day to seek the Lord for a fresh, prophetic, on-time word for the people. We had vip tickets to see a concert last night, Danny gockey. We didn't make it in time for early entry at 5pm due to several accidents on I 94, and I75. Bumper to bumper whole way for traffic. Should've taken us 40 mins ended taking almost 2 hours. To get there for 6:13pm to get into the venue , got down to the vip area , was told need vip tickets to be seated there. Yey, couldn't believe I was told the area was full to go to the general seating area for our seats. Now why pay all that money for vip to be told , yey, it's full, need to find seats in the general. I felt compelled to review Mt. Zion, as I absolutely love Mt. Zion, though it is rather difficult to "review" a Church. I had been looking for a Church for a little over three years, and have gone between a few different places, but have never felt at home. Something has always been missing. Mt. Zion has been such a blessing to me, and my entire family. I've finally found the Church where I feel at home, which is ironic seeing that it is so massive. They help to give the Church a smaller feel by having "Care Pastor's" that look after each section (and "their" people). The first time I came here, I was overwhelmed. It was SO massive, I parked at the wrong entrance (one of many), and didn't even have a clue as to where I had parked. The care pastor in my section didn't want me wandering around the Church aimlessly, so she was sweet enough to drive me around in her car until we found mine. Never before had I been to a Church where a complete stranger cared so much. And the magic of that first experience has only grown. I love this Church even more with every passing day. The worship here is amazing. That is not an overstatement. I have never seen a Church that does worship as well. And Ashley...that girl can sing! All of the singers impress me greatly (and I am pretty critical when it comes to worship...). That was my first impression of Mt. Zion. I was blown away by the worship. I felt like I was at a Concert. In fact, the sound system Mt. Zion uses sounds better than the sound system Casting Crowns used when I saw them in Concert. That is saying something! Pastor Loren is one of a kind. It is no mistake that this is one of the largest Churches in Oakland County. I cannot even begin to describe his speaking style. All the Covarrubias's seem to be genuinely great people of God, and Mt. Zion has been a blessing in my life. I recommend it to everyone I know! read more

I have been live streaming for a couple years now at least, yet have never heard a message from Pastor Loren on other "Gifts of the Spirit" other than speaking in tongues for those of us who do not speak in tongues nor can interpret what they are saying? It's hard to believe that everyone in the congregation speaks in tongues? Sometimes I feel, after an awesome message from Pastor Loren, unworthy & rejected as they start speaking in tongues & I'm asking myself how is this benefiting the body for those of us who don't have that particular gift because I/we don't speak in tongues as they do, but knowing other gifts are just as important to God as stated in I Corinthians 12! Not everyone is the "head" because that "little toe" is just as necessary & important as "part of the rest of the body", right? I am trying to become a better child of God in every way I can & still learning daily & Pastor Loren has helped me a lot, but sometimes he leaves me feeling a little down sometimes :-( read more

Pastor Loren Covarrubias is an incredible teacher-preacher who truly hears the word of God and delivers it with a fresh, unique perspective. The staff and volunteers at Mt. Zion are incredibly people-oriented, and the structure of the Church, from an ever-increasing community presence to a perpetually maturing body of believers, are incredibly friendly and faithful. I would highly recommend this Church for anybody looking to grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. read more
