For those in-station transfers, you're required to do a lot of going up or down then another up or down depending. I always feel the configuration somehow could be structured more efficient for passenger. With all that, the station is normally provides ADA compliant accessibility, but not sure what the temporary situation is given there's elevator work underway until early 2026. In Lexington Avenue fare zone Mezzanine to the E,F,M Platform, MTA installed Brooklyn-born Abstract painter Al Held's 2004 "Passing Through," long bright mosaics based on his watercolor works. One wall has flows like yellow ribbons, the opposite wall provides interactive colorful geometric shapes and swirls, intertwined with a 3-D appearance. Each piece seems to accompany your movement through the space. Apparently, this station has Nina Yankowitz's 1989 "Tunnel Vision" with hand-painted ceramic tiles, but I think it's covered up while MTA's doing work.

This was one of the cleaner and better maintained subway stations. This station also services the G line which ends here. You can take that up to Hunter's Point in Queens.

If you're going to coney island you can take this stop as well take the F-Train . the opposite direction you can catch the F- Train into Manhattan or Jamaica ,Queens . same for the G- Train you can catch the G-Train in to queens - Long island city section of queens and several stops in Brooklyn as well . I usually come here when I have to ahead in to queens without going to Manhattan or if i'm headed to Williamsburg I'll catch the G- Train as well !!!!

This is the N train stop on Kings Highway. Its Manhattan-bound platform is closed until Spring 2017…read moreas my tip says. The age of this station is very high but its super convenient location on Kings Highway near Coney Island Ave and Ocean Parkway make it highly preferred nonetheless. It's a very simple layout with 1 street-level entry, stairs down with a fork for the 2 directions. N train service is regular with 3 minute frequencies at rush hour, 17-22 mins on weekends. The B82 & B82-LTD serve the station's 1 exit. The stop is a long and clear one meaning less traffic chokepoints. Staffed booth at street level is very helpful. Lighting is good. Safety is good except perhaps at the extreme ends of the platforms as the entry is on 1 platform end.

The 68th Street-Hunter College Station on the Lexington Avenue Local Line (6 at all times and 4 at…read morenight) offers a great perch to watch the trains through the expansive windows at the Mezzanine crossover sitting area! It's easy to use, being ADA compliant, and also has colorful artwork within the station. African American artist Lisa Corinne Davis employs layered representations of maps in these 2024 public art mosaic murals taken from her paintings made of a combination of glass smalti, engraved glass cakes with color infill, and hand-painted glass. Before you enter fare control is "Tempestuous Terrain" and on the Mezzanine, flanking both stairs down the platforms are "Liminal Location." They're all worth checking out when you stop to take a moment to enjoy the trains passing by below!

This 23rd St. Subway Station at Madison Square Park, where Broadway and 5th Avenue intersect is…read moreserviced by BMT Broadway Line trains (i.e., those marked yellow between Brooklyn and Queens or Uptown) when they're running local in Midtown Manhattan. [That service, subject to change for multiple reasons, presently includes: R at all times except night, W on weekdays, N weekends and nights, as well as Q at night.] Really fun mosaics of various hats historic hats worthwhile to check out line both platforms! Pleasantly surprised to learn more about them. While I originally thought they're tied to milliners situated in the late 1800s "Ladies' Mile" District, a closer look revealed that each whimsical head cover connects to a figure whose time in New York crossed 23rd Street when it was a big cultural district between 1880 and 1920! (FYI - That's when Madison Square Garden was actually located at E. 26th St. and Madison Avenue off its namesake Madison Square Park.) Small signage under each hat indicate whose head the hat may have appeared on or flown off! London-born later New Yorker artist Keith Godard, created this "Memories of 23rd Street" 2003 piece. Apparently at one point, he lived at the nearby Chelsea Hotel which seeded his interest in the characters that frequented this neighborhood. To add, rumors circulated that the height of the above 1902 "skyscraper" Flatiron (a.k.a. Fuller) Building caused the area to be more windy, impacting people's clothing. You'll notice headwear of still well-known figures such as: Mark Twain, Harry Houdini, Thomas Edison, Marie Curie, O'Henry, Eleanor Roosevelt, Florenz Ziegfeld, Lillie Langtry, plus John and Ethel Barrymore. The top hat of P.T. Barnum was juxtaposed to reflect the height disparity with a cap of his performer General "Tom Thumb!" Figures lesser known today are also accounted for. Of course, since it's subway art, it includes William Barclay Parson, Chief Engineer of the Rapid Transit Commission! Godard indicated that today's subway passengers might enjoy envisioning people waiting for trains on the opposite platform donning hats they are beneath. Given this station provides the closest subway access to Madison Square Park, the iconic Flatiron building, local shopping and other businesses, not to mention a major crosstown street, it could benefit from MTA installing elevators! People who cannot easily navigate the stairs, such as with strollers, carriages, or wheelchairs cannot easily use this subway station! MTA, make this 23rd Street Subway Station accessible to everyone!
