My favourite might be the Pollo Al tequila. I remember a night when I lived nearby in the mid 90s when the owner had gotten a bunch of new tequilas in and he got my girlfriend and I to try a whole bunch of them and we ended up not going to work that night, lol. The service has generally been great. Every time I have gone I don't recall a bad experience, but it's hard to remember for sure. The ambiance feels a bit like being in a small restaurant in parts of Mexico, so that's great. I come here nearly every time I pass through red deer.

When we arrived just before noon there was only one other occupied table in the small restaurant. The owner asked if we'd ever been there before and when we said no, he gave us the full rundown of the buffet. When I told him I was vegetarian, he walked me past the buffet and showed me everything I could eat (which was all but two things!) I started off with their tortilla soup and loaded it up with chips and sour cream. It was incredibly flavourful and I honestly could have just kept eating that. Afterward, I filled up two tacos full of potatoes, black beans, salsa, and more. They even had homemade jalapenos which were delicious. My only complaint is that they didn't seem to have guacamole on the buffet. I understand it could be a cost thing, but I'm always willing to pay extra for guac! The price was fairly reasonable considering it was all you could eat ($15 for lunch). The owner joked that you have to pay double if you eat more than 60 tacos but I didn't get anywhere near that. This buffet is a hidden gem. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Red Deer.

Service was fantastic, Juan (Joe) was our waiter, he is also the owner. He explained the menu, asked what we liked, and had recommendations for us. The menu is very simple. Nothing fancy on the menu I had the pork steak with beans and rice, very delicious. My wife ordered the burrito rice and beans on the side. I also got some homemade salsa on the side that was habanero it was very hot in a good way! While eating it seemed like we were eating in his home. Service was fantastic. I recommend this hidden gem for great food and service. Very clean environment. The chips and mango salsa was amazing.
