A hidden gem!! A mom and pop place. Home cooking. Start with the chips and mango salsa was amazing. Very clean, little music playing on the over head speakers. The feel of this establishment is home in Latin America. Plants and grapes all around. Nice murals on the wall with lots of art. Service was fantastic, Juan (Joe) was our waiter, he is also the owner. He explained the menu, asked what we liked, and had recommendations for us. The menu is very simple. Nothing fancy on the menu I had the pork steak with beans and rice, very delicious. My wife ordered the burrito rice and beans on the side. I also got some homemade salsa on the side that was habanero it was very hot in a good way! While eating it seemed like we were eating in his home. Service was fantastic. Not what I expected when I walked in as the outside is a lot less inviting than the inside. Once you get in though it is very well decorated and makes you really feel like you're immersed in the culture. I got the Burrito Super which is number 1 on the menu. First off the fries are very well done and very tasty. The burrito had excellent flavor and tons of cheese which is always super appealing. Also big fan of the side on the dish in little cups as it lets me apply as I want. Overall very satisfying. read more

Had the Queen Enchilada's (chicken) with beans and rice...outstanding, and very generous portion! Also, one of the VERY nice aspects of this is that the meal is served on china, and not in a box...this greatly improves the experience. Apart from the amazing food (best Mexican I have had), the owner is very friendly and accommodating...had a great time chatting about the 'heat'! Ambience: outstanding...very homey, with lots of decoration in a cosy setting. I highly recommend this restaurant, and hope to return often!!! Would give it 6 stars if it were possible! read more

I had the chicken enchiladas. They were so good I almost died. I had the pleasure of being served by Jose himself. He asks how spicy we want our food on a scale of 1-10. I say 7. He says no. Jose knows. The food has more spice than what I normally expect, but I like to almost hallucinate, so I happen to have used my whole little side cup of house-made spicy salsa Jose put on the side just in case I could handle more heat. He says the food he brought was only 3 drops of hot sauce, which is not even 1/10. But because I used some of my date's hot sauce, Jose reluctantly agreed to let me order 4/10 next time I come in. I've barely even gotten started here people. The chicken. It was so moist I could tell that single ingredient was prepared so carefully. Usually Mexican flavour is so good who cares that the meat is dry, cover that s**t up with salsa/guac/queso fresco (which this meal came with a nice portion of each). But this chicken was so good I had to dig some of the generous chunks out to enjoy on their own. Now on to the mole. So flavourful. There was enough of it. It was a beautiful consistency, no greasy layer that sometimes happens. The baked cheese on top was nice, but I wouldn't have missed it if it wasn't there. This is not a dish that needs to rely on a layer of yummy cheese to shine. Baked black beans and rice. Gosh darn was the rice so flavourful and delicious on its own. I had a margarita too. Authentic. No slush or ice. I cannot wait to go back, except I'm going to be full for the next 24 hours. My date agrees: 5/5 read more

If your looking for some authentic Latin fare than please come visit these fine folks. Service is friendly and they do a great job with the newbies as far as ordering. They allow you to determine the heat of your dish. I had the steak fajita taco which is pulled beef (succulent) smothered in cheeses and served with sides of pica, sour cream and hot sauce. The flavors blended well and I really had that sort of messy plate authenticity I find in Mexico. Service was so friendly and it was nice to have the chef come out and give a little desert and see how I liked my meal. She also gave me a tip for ordering as far as heat goes. I'm a three which is above average ;) Beans were great and so was my rice. I hear they also have pretty much the biggest burger in town. A pound of homemade pure meat delight. I overheard a table talking about their buddy who ordered one and it sounded epic and the owner confirmed its greatness. Sounds like a challenge to me! Ordered take out as I was just passing thru Red Deer on my way out of town. Very friendly staff and very reasonable prices for the food you get. I ordered a burrito which was huge, smothered in cheese and packed tight with delicious meat, a side of beans and rice to completely fill my Styrofoam container. They do ask how spicy you want your food (1-10), I happen to like spicy food and it was hotter than expected my choice to be but still awesome, so be prepared. Salsa was flavorful, obviously house made, and has a nice kick to it. Great spot read more

Im from San diego, CA which is next to the mexican border.. and as a girl who regularly eats her pupusas, fish tacos and enchiladas i can finally visit my boyfriend in lil ol red deer knowing that i can satisfy my latin cravings without a doubt!!! Omg pls do yourself a favor and get the enchilada king with beef, so so SoOoo GOOD!!! Food took awhile to arrive but that's only because they cook when the food is ordered which i highly appreciate. Owner is super friendly too, i even introduced my friends who LIVED in red deer all their lives to this restaurant and loved it and they wished they knew sooner too. Love jose jose!! read more

We went for breakfast but I wish we could've had dinner. The breakfast menu was small but the retried beans and plantain were amazing! It was completely empty for brunch so the service was really good. The decor is interesting. The restaurant definitely has charm and has an amazingly diverse dinner menu. I'd give it a try for breakfast if you've never liked plantain or beans but I hope the expand their breakfast menu because a good breakfast burrito or huevos ranchero would fit perfectly with my breakfast expectation. read more

We stopped in here today for lunch after admiring it for a month or so (it's never open when we want to go). I got empanadas (the special) I ate it all. Food baby be damned. My boyfriend got the burger. It's is a serious burger. A pound of meat 6 slices of bacon topped with cheese. It almost beat him and he is a big appetite man. We thought the atmosphere was fantastic Campy and fun and the owner was a great conversationalist. Great food and great service. We will be back. read more

I eat here nearly once a week and I do so for a reason; the food here is delicious! Your food does not have to be spicy BUT if you are a fan (as I am) this is the place for you. The lady who does the cooking (Corina) is the most wonderful lady you will ever talk to. Shes very passionate about her cooking and you can taste it. It is really to bad the owner is so unreasonable. She had asked how the food was and I told her it was to salty but she argued with saying that I didn't know what I was talking about. We were the only table the whole time we there and now I know why. Average food,tacky decor and unreasonable owner makes you wonder how much longer they will be in business.
