Awful experience, the woman working there was completely frantic and rude when she tried to clip my dogs claws, which she was unsuccessful at and never apologized for. They have very watered down shampoo and conditioner and considering how bad and condescending the service is spending $16 to use a tub and some weak shampoo is not worth the price. We will never be back, her behavior was so rude and insulting that everyone in the shop was uncomfortable by it and she made my wife cry. I have never been this angry at a business and how they treated my pet and family! read more

I love this place. My cat? Not so much, but when he is stinky it's where we go to get him prettied up. They are so nice here and even offer to help! And the punch card is nice too (buy 10 get one free ... that's a lot of baths for a cat but if you had a dog it would be worth your while). If there was a possibility of giving Zero stars that still wouldn't do this place justice. I have a $3500 labradoodle who loves water and loves the outdoors. This being said I pay a lot for him to be groomed because of his hair type, how it matts, and how I want my dog to look. I Specifically told the groomer when I called to set up his appointment to do his nails, really get the hair out of his left ear, and to leave the 8 years of grown hair on top of his head that we keep in a ponytail. I have been going to groomers for 8 years since I bought him and have NEVER had a problem with this. We just recently moved to the wheat-ridge area and needed to find a groomer that was closer. Not only did they SHAVE MY LABRADOODLE.. down to the skin. They SHAVED off his man bun that he's has had for 8 YEARS! The amount of angry I am cannot be put into words. Also to top things off he was returned with a snapped in half leash. We were told he "chewed" through it. This is coming from a dog who has NEVER chewed anything but a ball in his life. A dog that goes to a groomers at least 5 times a year and is very used to it. I suggest that if you care for how your dog looks or want your dog and yourself to be respected, stay far away from this place. Shame on you. read more

After going to another neighborhood groomer (3-star groomer) a couple of times, I thought I would give Muddy Paws another try over the past 4-6 months to have my yorkie groomed. I couldn't be more pleased that I have decided to bring her back regularly. My little one was trembling like a leaf when I first brought her in, as usual. They were so sweet and immediately wrapped her up in one of the Thunder Jackets (not sure what they are called exactly) to ease some of her anxiety before her bath and cut. Her cut was flawless (well, maybe a little long around the eyes, but we'll make note of that for next time we visit), nails trimmed without injury, and she looked and smelled so good. When I picked her up, she was wearing the jacket again and seemed happy - so that seemed to be a great way for them to work with nervous dogs. Everyone there was wonderfully sweet. There were many dogs in to get groomed and you can tell that each of them were so well cared for. read more

Brought my pups for the first time for a grooming over the weekend and we had really good results. The dogs seemed happy and had great cuts. Tina was our groomer and we were really happy with her. I decided to change groomers because every time I would pick my dog up she would be shaking uncomfortably and I would hear her crying in a crate. When I came to Muddy Paws I was beyond impressed. The place is beautiful and clean and has lots of cute things. There's even a back yard where Nelli took my dog for a walk out back prior to getting groomed, and after getting groomed, I thought this was great. Also when I picked my dog up she wasn't in a crate and she wasn't crying and definitely not shaking. We got in the car and my dog was SO HAPPY. I found my forever grooming location. Nelli did a great job on my dog. My dog is 12 years old but she looks like a puppy :) thank you for creating such a comfortable place for our pets. read more

Well our pup was really in need of a good shave and came back with issues with his ears. I figured no big deal, we'll work through this. His ears bothered him so much he shook until his ears were cut open by his collar. I figured this was to be expected and moved on from the issue. I do say they had good customer service by discounting the grooming. I appreciated it. The biggest issue has occurred hours later. I'm pretty damn sure my dog was sedated with out my permission. He's not the same 1 year old puppy. Lethargic and droopy eyes. Drooling and staring. It was our Old English Sheepdog's first real grooming and he needed it due to matting and change of seasons. I can't say for sure that he was sedated but I can say that getting his first grooming was a little hard on him. The day after, he's doing much better and being himself! read more

This review is based solely on our last experience with Muddy Paws. And I am saddened to say after that experience we will not be returning. In the past we have always given the business the benefit of the doubt but we will no longer be returning. I received a not so friendly phone call last Sunday from the owner telling me to go pick up my dogs because they had been ready for over an hour and she stated they had called me and left me messages both of which was untrue. But, the dogs she was calling about are actually my sister's dogs. I kindly told her that I would contact my sister and let her know the dogs were ready. I can understand the confusion (I used pick the dogs up occasionally, my sister and I used to live together and my contact info was on file for that reason), I have asked many times that my sister always be contacted first but they have not gotten it straight. The lack of friendliness and accusations that I was basically ignoring them was not ok. I contacted my sister and let her know the dogs were ready. She picked them up and one dog (an 80 lbs golden doodle) was still wet, and our little Maltese had gotten the runs while there. The customer service was also not so great in person, my sister again was told she had been called yet was sitting at home waiting for a call without receiving one. One week later, neither look like they were groomed at all. The doodles ears are looking matted and the Maltese can't see because the long hair around his eyes are blocking his vision. Roxie is typically great but the customer service this past visit was enough for us to know we won't be returning after five years. read more

This was my first experience at a self serve pet wash. The two stars are for the really awesome assistant who helped us get setup. The place seemed dirty, shampoo comes in industrial spritz bottles and the towels next to our station looked overused. The setup was ok, but had we brought a large tentative dog in, it would have been very difficult to get them in the tub. To top it off, they charged us the large dog price for our 39 pound puppy. We even made a comment about it and they didn't budge. I won't be back. read more

I have a skinny, bug-eyed, frantic Weimaraner who is way too much of a spazz to be washed by a hose in the backyard. Every once in a while, his stink becomes intolerable and we head to Muddy Paws for a quick wash. Now unlike some other people with *normal* dogs, when I say quick, I mean quick! We walk right in, make a beeline for the first open tub and I march him up the ramp into the tub before he even knows what's going on. The tubs are a great height because I can use one arm to spray him with the hose, and the other arm to keep him from clawing his way out of the tub. The wash cycle is also good because there's no separate shampoo bottle. It's kind of like a car wash--put the knob on "soap" and a soapy water comes out, then put the knob on "rinse" and clean water comes out. Quick and efficient one-handed operation! The result, pooch is squeaky clean in less than 5 minutes and nobody is missing an eye. $15 well spent. Some people probably want some luxury touches to their dog wash, unfortunately I don't have time for such niceties when my dog is literally crawling the walls and showering me in a wet dog stank. But Muddy Paws does offer a nifty plastic apron, a Sham WOW, and a dryer if your dog is the kind that can keep his marbles for more than 5 minues. The owner of this place an incredibly nice lady who is really involved in the Denver dog community. That's a plus too. read more

If you desire to bathe and groom your dog yourself, this may be an OK place to go. However, don't consider having your dog groomed there! On my first and only visit to this shop, I attempted to communicate CLEARLY to the groomer and manager how I wished my dogs to be cut. Unfortunately, I found upon returning there that my poor dogs had been shaved with no consideration at all to my instructions. It was almost as if the groomer only knew one way to shear them. Frankly, I was shocked at the time and decided to wait until the next day to deal with this. Later when I called and tried to discuss my situation with the shop's owner, Zia, my concerns were not at all listened to. Instead they were met with various insulting comments! I have been taking my dogs to groomers for several years. This was by far my worst experience, not only with a groomer but with a store owner. read more

We used the self-serve wash a couple of days ago and it was a great experience. My dog had not had a proper bath in a year or so. I know, I know. So we went to Muddy Paws to check things out. The staff was helpful in getting our dog into the tub and chained up. They explained how everything worked, showed us where towels and brushes were, gave us some tips and aprons, and we were on our merry way! And it was seriously merry. I mean, I don't think my dog loved it, at one point she did try to jump out of the tub--because of the dryer (we'll skip that in the future), but she did get a nice chicken-y treat at the end and she was seriously clean and fluffy, albeit a little traumatized because she is not used to being bathed. I know, I know. Now we have a punch card, and it is so close to where we live, she will be getting baths more regularly--guaranteed! read more

Let me start by saying that I hate getting my own hair cut. I put if off for weeks and sometimes even months to the point where it's long overdue and I should be going to see a dog groomer myself. And I am a little ashamed to admit that I was equally neurotic about getting my puppy groomed for the first time. And it didn't help to read a few horror stories on Yelp about dogs being shaved and cut at other groomers. I decided that I would put it off as long as humanly pawsable (I couldn't resist). But it soon became evident that my poor puppy couldn't lug around four inched of unneeded hair. So we settled on Muddy Paws because of their hours and the great reviews here. We dropped off the pooch around 3 o'clock and picked up a clean, happy puppy around 5. It was evident that they were really busy that day, but I would wait even longer in the future because I know she will come back to me looking great! Muddy Paws is kind of far away from us, but I will be willing to make the trek again and again to know that she will look wonderful! Note: I would even give Muddy Paws 5 stars, but this was my first dog grooming experience, so I can't say it's better than everywhere else. read more

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. The lady working the front desk was very frantic and rude to customers. I watched her turn away a family practically yelling at them to leave because they had children. The shampoos for the dogs were watered down and the floors were filthy. Before I washed my dog and experienced all of this I tried to trust this lady with trimming my dogs claws. She right away didn't want to do it assuming my dog would bite her. I assured her that my dog doesn't bite he just shivers. She had no patience with him and ended up cutting one claw to short causing him to bleed. There was no apology given we just decided that I bathe him and she could maybe stop the bleeding afterwards. While I was bathing him I noticed the bad customer service this person was giving which made it uncomfortable. I was going to have his anal glands taken care of but after everything I saw I didn't want her touching my dog again. I complained about her insensitivity and bad service and refused to pay. She demanded that I should even though admitting it was bad service. In the end I paid for the self service dog wash and left very dissatisfied and disappointed. Also my credit card fell out of my pocket as I was handing it over to her. I apologized because it fell on the ground. I DID NOT THROW it at her as she has tried to say I did. read more

As with any service oriented business, change is inevitable. Employees come and go and staff continues to change. It is the nature of the business. Zia continues to work though these struggles with the utmost concern for her customers. She does everything she can to try and assist her customers through these types of transition. Yes, I have been a customer of Muddy Paws for years. They have always catered to my dogs with the care that I expect. Heather was our primary groomer during her employment at Muddy Paws and we were always very happy with her. To reference my comment on change, Heather is no longer working there, so when we took our dogs in and they were groomed by Roxanne. She is sweet and loved all over my dogs. They came home cleaner and brushed out better than they had in a long time! Sometimes change is good. Keep on......keepin' on. Love this place. read more

This place rocks. Used it for the first time today and it had everything I needed and them some: - Super-duper nice people running the place. They let us come in and use the self-service wash station for my two little pugs even though it was after the posted closing time. (They were still grooming some other dogs). The lady who we talked to (Zia?) was really helpful and nice to my little boy too. - Great equipment. The big tubs were perfect for washing both of my dogs at once and they are very tall, so safe. No way they could fall out or slip off. You can have a plastic apron for yourself, to keep dry. The water hose, shampoo, towels, hair dryer and combs are all included for the $10 (small dog) price. - Oh, and free doggy snacks afterward. They have this monster box thing called the Dog Spa, which they say can wash any dog in just a bit of time completely automatically. 36 jets for water and air. I don't know what the dog would think of that but it looks pretty cool. Maybe next time. I recommend this place to anyone in the neighborhood with a set of muddy paws, whether you want to do the self-serve thing like I did, or let their staff groom your pooch for you. :) read more

I have been taking my 10lb Pomeranian here for years. This is this only place I will take my dogs both of them are previously abused rescue dogs and I am a protective fur mom. My girl has a crazy thick coat and hates to be brushed, at least by me. She is always happy here and they obviously care about the dogs. The only time I didn't love my dog's hair cut was my fault I decided to take her hair a little shorter and they did exactly what I asked. She still looked pretty cute though. I had several bad experiences others places with my dog limping after or places that charged me almost double when I came to get my dog because she had more hair then expected. Not the case here. The price is always reasonable, my dog looks good, smells good and is happy. read more

Just got back from picking up my two big hairy dogs from Muddy Paws. I normally go to Shampooch, just down the street, but they were booked today and my pups were in serious need of a bath and shedding. Pros: - Pups look and smell great - Heather did a great job. - Very friendly staff and great environment - They even washed their collars, which was a total bonus! I hate picking up clean dogs and having to put stinky collars back on them. - Was easy to get an appointment Cons: - A little more expensive than Shampooch - I thought they could have done a better job with the shedding. Took my big boy Poncho to get a bath and nails clipped. We now take him every couple of weeks to get his nails trimmed. He is such a wuss and holds his breath and trembles the entire time. Nothing is more annoying after you've given your dog a bath in your tub, than having to clean the bathtub next so that you can use it to shower. At Muddy Paws, you don't have to deal with that mess. It's great! You just bring your dog in, use their stand up tall tubs and they supply towels, shampoo, conditioner and even aprons to keep you dry. They're staff is very nice and the place is always clean and spacious. The owner of Muddy Paws is super nice and friendly and is heavily committed to helping dogs in the community. Hate trying to wrestle your pet into the tub and making a complete mess of your bathroom / house. Muddy Paws is great! They have aprons, towels, brushes, shampoo, wind tunnel speed blow dryers. All you have to do is bring your stinky pooch. They will also clip toe nails if a groomer is available. Super friendly staff. I concur, the people here are the nicest and make the process super easy. They were great to me and my 4-legged child. The equipment is so thoughtfully designed just for its pet-washing purpose that you'll never resort to the old "lean over the bath tub and wreck your back" again. They even have special doggie dryers that are powerful enough to do the trick in 1/3 the time of your home hair dryer. NEVER going back. We have been going to muddy paws for years. Carol is no longer there and it shows. All the recent reviews are bad and I should have listened. I took my dog and asked to speak directly with the groomer to show her pictures of what we wanted. She claimed "I got the head and ears down" and asked about the length of the body. I told her to do the same as they have done before...which was written on his card. I showed her multiple pictures and she told me she understood. When I pick Him up he definitely does not have the long hair up top. The groomer continues to ARGUE with me and tell me that that's what I told her I wanted!!!!! EXCUSE ME????? I showed you multiple pictures! Then continues to say that "oh well I'm not sure how they get the top like that"- then you should have told me from the beginning that you couldn't do that OR call me ask me what to do! She continues to argue with me and says "oh well it will grow out evenly." Are you freaking kidding me??? The lady up front said nothing other than "oh sorry I didn't see the pictures before, it will grow back and we will have it written down as to what you want." THERE IS NO GOING BACK!!!!
