Friendly vibe with clear, authentic information. Beginner…read morefriendly, Tibetan Buddhist teachings and meditation practice. Not new age. Members have a good sense of humor and it's a fun place to be. I moved to Santa Fe a few months ago and love going here. I went to the DW center in Chicago and to many around the world, the curriculum is always the same. It's laid-back, you learn everything at your own pace. Meditation cushions are there already. You don't need to bring anything. There are no monks/nuns, the main teacher is from Copenhagen and everyone dresses casually /contemporary. Public meditation nights are Thurs 7:30 and Sun 11am. The meditation is guided and usually there is a 10min talk on a Buddhist topic right before by one of the members. The Way Things Are or Entering The Diamond Way are books by Lama Ole Nydahl that give a taste of what it's all about. It's very interesting how Buddhism has moved from the east to the west! Ole Nydahl is the main teacher and there are over 600 DW centers worldwide. He is 78 yrs old and travels to the different centers giving lectures. He asked some who have been practicing for awhile to also give basic teachings, so when you visit the center you can ask questions to them. Hope this helps!
