Restáurant was right across from the bus stop. What a lovely place. We shared a breakfast. Orange juice and poached egg on an English Muffin with salmon. They actually separated our order and we each got our own plate which was well presented, and most importantly delicious food. The orange juice was fresh and so good. The poached egg cooked to perfection. The salmon fresh , and the English muffin good. I still prefer Thomas'. Haha. All in all a great breakfast, outstanding service and a truly charming place. I must go to. PS they do have wifi. Just ask for the password. Ellie our waitress was really outstanding.

Our typical order: - a cappuccino and the Londoner - a mocha and the Eggs Royale The coffees were good, but the Londoner was missing tomatoes, and the Eggs Royale contained a fraction of the eggs that I'd had for the past 3 days. We talked to them, and they added tomatoes and eggs respectively, which was good. Neither sandwich came wrapped as they had at the other locations. The difference COULD be attributed to the fact that this location is considered a 'restaurant' instead of a 'cafe' ...they brought our food instead of us having to pick it up, and they collected our dishes. But...just beware! This location doesn't seem up to par.

Coffees are on the cheap side - approx £1.75 - but they're also on the weak side. This almost led me to mark it a 3, but then I tried a Millionaires Shortbread cake which was chocolatey, buttery and delicious and highly likely to be home-made. So I'd go back for food but perhaps try somewhere else for a post lunch caffeine fix.

My coffee was on the sour end and that's certainly not a good sign for a good coffee. This is the 'sour' taste that you generally experience with poorly extracted espresso coffee. My experience tells me that sourness in espresso coffee is most often the result of the grind being too course or over-extraction. Over-extraction, the extended length of time that the hot water runs through the ground coffee, allows the naturally occurring but bitter Tanic acid to be extracted along with the desirable coffee oils. In this case, I guess it happened today. Maybe it was just an off day, but unfortunately, sometimes first impression summaries the relationship status. At least it was a peasant environment and it looked like a pleasant place for coffee.

Yes, Brooklyn coffee hits all the clichés (bar-style window seating...check; minimalist, vaguely industrial decor...check; hip-hop/something-electronic-you've-never-heard-before-but-less-terrifying-than-Haxan-Cloak...check; lumberjack shirts...check), but ultimately they're pretty good at what they do. Besides, hating on hipsters is so mainstream now, I was over and done with that yeaaaaaars ago. Brooklyn is in a fantastic location, a stone's throw away from Spitalfields Market - I remember all those winter's days I had to walk all the way to Brick Lane to get a coffee fix when I was in the area. No more. They offer Caravan coffee, Rare Tea Co tea, a small pastry selection, and Mast Brothers chocolate bars (on a side note, is Single Origin chocolate on the verge of becoming the next big thing?). I was rather pleased with my espresso, although the flavour profile was much better a few sips down. I don't know how regularly they change their blend but the current one is definitely to my liking as it's pretty strong from the off, but the flavour evolves nicely and the acidity doesn't linger. No complaints here. I know Peter S. has a little bit of a gripe with the staff, but I thought they were fine and generally helpful. It's not like East London needs any more good coffee shops, but they got one and (if I were still a local, or at least an honorary local), Brooklyn would be a firm fixture in my rotation.

Their signature Vienna coffees remain some of the most decadent caffeinated concoctions in the area. They also have a delicious pastry selection baked fresh every day, from pistachio croissants to fluffy cinnamon buns. The space remains a bit rough to relax in given the limited seating and wooden chairs and tables, but in this area, you'll probably be eager to get into your next shopping trip or show, anyway.

The theme is wood and frankly it's a really nice place to enjoy a coffee and the coffee was delicious and the staff were welcoming. There are a couple of personal downsides for me though. One is that my bony bum appreciates cushions so the wooden surface became uncomfortable very quickly. The second is that the music was not pleasant to listen to. It was a little too loud for my liking. These two issues shouldn't put anyone off going there though. As I said, they're personal to me. However there were other problems. I asked for a hot, skinny milk latte. They don't have skinny milk, only full cream or oat milk. During the debate about the milk the fact that I requested my coffee to be hot was forgotten so it arrived luke warm. As I said, the coffee was delicious but it wasn't hot as I'd asked. I could have taken it back but I just felt awkward about doing that which of course was down to me. I'm well aware that small businesses like this one work very hard to get them up and running and I don't want to put anyone off dropping in here. They deserve to succeed and I hope that they do. Incidentally my phone wouldn't work there so wifi would have been nice but maybe I'm pushing things a bit too far.

They also do a healthy selection of freshly squeezed fruit juices- carrot, celery, ginger and orange was delicious and woke me up after the banoffee heaven i consumed.
