We were looking for something to check out while we visited Bowling Green, and trains are always a good idea. The Good: *Admission is $16 ($14 seniors and vets) for the museum and tour or $8 for just the museum. *Some nice displays in the museum of historic rail antiquities. *Friendly staff *Touring the rail cars is always fascinating, and they've done a great job refurbishing and keeping them in good shape. The Meh: *Smallish souvenir shop to pick up a few gifts and/or souvenirs for train lovers. The Ugly: *Touring the rail car in the summer is just a downright awful experience. I mean, they try their best to cool off the trains with AC, but it's like spitting into the wind. I was schvitzing more than a turkey in November. TLDR: Not the best train museum I've ever visited--and I've visited a LOT--but it was a good way to kill a few hours and didn't break the bank.

Who knew he was so into bluegrass before the Grateful Dead days. The displays are professionally designed. Well worth checking out. There were people playing near the entrance of the displays. So it was a thrill to meet her. There is a cool Kody Norris Show room. On Saturday there is an open jam for all levels of musicians. We attended and they wanted to k. Ow if we were coming back next week!! . But the best thing is that Amy from the gift store got in touch with two of my friends to Le t me know we had left an. iPad and a music stand after the jam. We were headed out of town to go home to Georgia when my friends got in touch. So we went back and got the iPad and stand. Sadly a storm took out the electricity to the toy house and he isn't permitted to fix it because the electric is connected to the house and the town said he has to upgrade all the electric in the house, which he and his wife don't have the means for right now. When he had electricity a lot of the toys would move and contraptions on the property had lights and water on some of them. The toys stretch back to the 1940s. Definitely a trip down memory lane. The gentleman who owns it is very nice and came out to give us a tour and pointed out the many puns related to the displays. The little general store his grandparents ran back in the early half of the 1900s is still standing and full of interesting memorabilia and artifacts. It's donations only, no cost, but the man and his wife can use the help. If you're not a fan of weird junk art and old toys, you probably wouldn't like it. We spent about 45 minutes there.

The story and history behind this place is amazing and I love to see how well kept everything is, here. Highly recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to explore because there is so much to see! They close at 5pm and we arrived around 4:30pm, so not enough time to explore the museum, maybe next time. We were able to take several photos of the arboretum and let me tell you, you cannot take a bad picture here - everything is stellar!

A great and unique cave experience in Bowling Green. We…read morerecently took the underground boat tour at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and it was a very cool and unique adventure! This is Kentucky's only underground boat tour, and we were lucky to visit right after the river had lowered enough to reopen following flooding. (When the water is high, the cave becomes submerged, so timing is everything.) Our tour guide, Bri, was fantastic. She was funny, engaging, and an incredibly skilled boat driver. She kept the group entertained with corny but hilarious jokes while sharing the rich history of the cave, from its days as a Native American hunting ground and Civil War campground to its time as a hideout. It was even a 1930s nightclub which was being used as a wedding venue when we visited. She navigated us as far back into the cave as possible, pointing out beautiful and interesting rock formations along the way. The tour was about 45-minutes and included a guided walk to the cave entrance with 3 stops before you board the boat. Be aware that it involves a steep walk down (and back up) and requires bending over low in the boat with your torso flat toward the seat when the water is high as you first aneter and leave the cave. This makes the ride difficult or impossible for those with mobility impairments. Despite the physical aspects, I thought the experience was truly unique and peaceful as you glide through the cool, dark cave. I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in unique cave experiences or anyone who enjoys a blend of nature, history, and corny jokes.

She was an incredible wealth of knowledge and personally stepped outside to show us the direction of our self guided tour. The cost was $15.00 per adult. The preservation of this site is an absolute labor of love. Unfortunately, only 9 of the buildings survived out of 225 buildings. The rest of the buildings were devastated by a previous owner. However, this organization was very classy in maintaining a balance of history while not degrading the poor choices made by this individual. ( You will see what I mean.) Just a note: this is not a tour that is handicapped accessible. There are a lot of stairs and quite a distance to cover to the cemetery.
