A great and unique cave experience in Bowling Green. We…read morerecently took the underground boat tour at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and it was a very cool and unique adventure! This is Kentucky's only underground boat tour, and we were lucky to visit right after the river had lowered enough to reopen following flooding. (When the water is high, the cave becomes submerged, so timing is everything.) Our tour guide, Bri, was fantastic. She was funny, engaging, and an incredibly skilled boat driver. She kept the group entertained with corny but hilarious jokes while sharing the rich history of the cave, from its days as a Native American hunting ground and Civil War campground to its time as a hideout. It was even a 1930s nightclub which was being used as a wedding venue when we visited. She navigated us as far back into the cave as possible, pointing out beautiful and interesting rock formations along the way. The tour was about 45-minutes and included a guided walk to the cave entrance with 3 stops before you board the boat. Be aware that it involves a steep walk down (and back up) and requires bending over low in the boat with your torso flat toward the seat when the water is high as you first aneter and leave the cave. This makes the ride difficult or impossible for those with mobility impairments. Despite the physical aspects, I thought the experience was truly unique and peaceful as you glide through the cool, dark cave. I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in unique cave experiences or anyone who enjoys a blend of nature, history, and corny jokes.

The town is quite charming with some good eats and seasonal farmers market. The vibe was purely relaxed and easy overall. The trail itself is clean and marked for runners, cyclists, and motorists in specific areas. There's a museum along the trail that offers tours in advanced. I didn't travel the entire 5.5 miles but i think i would like to one day!

Who knew he was so into bluegrass before the Grateful Dead days. The displays are professionally designed. Well worth checking out. There were people playing near the entrance of the displays. We were headed out of town to go home to Georgia when my friends got in touch. So we went back and got the iPad and stand. We spent about $90 to visit Children's Museum of Evansville and it honestly felt like a complete…read morewaste of time and money. So many exhibits were broken or not working that my 7-year-old was constantly running up to something, pressing buttons, and... nothing. The place could be really cool if everything actually functioned, but it just doesn't. On top of that, there were employees cleaning in the "Rainbow Bistro" area for almost an hour, so she couldn't even play in there the entire time we were on that floor. For a children's museum that charges this much, I expected working exhibits and more consideration for the kids who are there to play. I really hope they put more effort into maintaining and fixing the exhibits instead of letting everything fall into disrepair. We won't be back unless things improve.

So I wanted to be optimistic, because I fully support educational places of play. But this place…read morewas straight up disappointing. We paid $60 for a family of 5. There are three levels in the museum with 10+ exhibits. Hardly any of them were fully functional. There was a graffiti wall in "fantastic plastic" exhibit that had 3 dry erase markers. 2 were dried up. So one marker was being shared by 4 kids. There was a Mark Twain bust that was supposed to record a small story, based on several words that you could choose, and then play it back to you. The record function did not work. My kids were excited about the quack factory exhibit, with rubber duckies/balls you would launch down tubes to a wet deck below. Nothing in the 2nd floor floor extension of this exhibit was working. They couldn't use it. We went to the ground level of the exhibit, the wet deck - but down there, the hot air balloon exhibit, which used heat to make a model hot air balloon rise, was non-functional. The portion that makes water vapor was non-functional. On the second floor, there is an "art maker" room with 3-D printers, like 6 of them. Only 2 were functional. The employee there was very apologetic and kind, but it was just one more thing. The 5th street theater portion on the second floor wasn't functioning properly. There is also a balance challenge on the second floor that is broken. There are some "piano stairs" coming down from second level to first that are out. The vending machine in the lobby was broken. The place was pretty clean, and not very crowded, which was nice- but I was honestly very sadly surprised. The cost of this experience just isn't justified. We won't be back.

The story and history behind this place is amazing and I love to see how well kept everything is, here. Highly recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to explore because there is so much to see! They close at 5pm and we arrived around 4:30pm, so not enough time to explore the museum, maybe next time. We were able to take several photos of the arboretum and let me tell you, you cannot take a bad picture here - everything is stellar!
