Definitely something that's nice to see in person while it's still here and not just a photograph! It's very nicely maintained by the city & the state historical society. Garden is open year-round and it's rentable for day use! Small parking lot for those who just want to check out the house, but for those people using the trail, Hogan Park is a great starting point for a quick and easy walk (you just might be able to catch a glimpse of the eagles on the way!). Not only does the house have beautiful architecture, both it and the grounds are very well maintained and includes a lovely garden that you're welcome to enjoy with plenty of flowers - I like how they've taken the time to clearly label things!

It seemed like a sort of active town little with all the needs such as little markets, offices and a few restaurants. There are a few things to do in town - Godola tours as well as looking at ships and a preserved sea farers dock. An "Audio brewery" that features audio vinyl's to be listened to and learned about, nearby trails, boat rentals and more should you really be looking to spend time in the area. There is history in Gig harbor - There is the Gig Harbor Boat Shop where I suppose you can get your boat needs and info if you're on the water with your person vessel. Wilkinson Farm Park which features a historic barn with trails nearby and Historic Net sheds which has among large boat nets for catching fish and other aquatic things, lots of preserved boat tools and essentials for fisherman who resided in the area. Gig Harbor is a nice little stop and likely a cool place to live if you're about the Maritime life.

Black Diamond has a *lot of coal mining history! The entire town was once owned by the coal mining…read morecompany. The Union Stump is a memorial at the location where coal miners met to form an alliance to negotiate with the mine for fair wages and safe working environment. Definitely stop at the Black Diamond museum up the road and speak with the volunteer docents. They have many family and community stories about this formative history. Just past the cemetary, there is a small parking area next to the memorial on Cemetary Rd. The road is a combination of dirt and pavement at the time of this review.

What a beautiful library!…read more I'm not on Vashon too regularly, but I was here for CiderFest across from the library. There was story time at the library so we checked it out and it's such a nice library! Some reviews mention that it's on the smaller side, but for Vashon it's fitting. It's super nice, and the kid's area is adorable. Tons of books for them to choose from, small tables and chairs, and a few toys here and there. I also love how bright this library is. Tons of ceiling to floor windows make it really airy and light. In the kid's area you can see a really nice playground that's a short walk from the library which my kids were dying to go play at (be warned!) All in all a great little library.

I was super early for my haircut appointment, so I decided to go to the gas station next to the…read morebarbershop and grab myself a Celsius energy drink, the sparkling strawberry passion fruit flavor to be exact.....TMI????? Anywho, the gas station receptionist started small talk with me and made mention of several iconic attractions around puget sound that I should indulge in. One of them was the Tacoma Narrows Bridge pedestrian walkway, so immediately following my haircut, I decided to head over. She even gave me specific parking instructions in order to avoid hazards. I found that location, parked, and entered the walkway through a small break between the fence line. The walkway consists of a two-way walk, run, and bike travel path divided by a Highway Style Guard Rail system. On the way there, there's a very nice scenic view of Mount Rainier from the bridge for those who are into the mountain aesthetics. For me, the engineering and architectural skills that go behind manufacturing such an amazing structure are more gratifying. Also, I may find it more fascinating due to constructing several small-level bridges in the past. As for the water, I've seen on several platforms like Threads, where a lot of the patrons rant and rave about the hydrodynamics of the Narrows, but I am no expert in the mechanics of water current nor am I stimulated by it presently. It was the twin suspension bridge complex for me. Overall, the experience was top-tier and peaceful.

Continue driving straight and stay in your lane while on the bridge. If driving eastbound or traveling to Tacoma, drivers are allowed to switch lanes because there are no grates and drivers must pay a toll. Cameras take photos of vehicle license plates that avoids toll pay. Have $5.50 cash ready to pay worker in the toll booth. Change will be given if needed. There's also Good to Go pass for commuters that saves money. Or pay via mail. I've always wondered where workers use the restroom because booth is tiny and vehicles are traveling fast. There are people riding bicycles, ebikes, and runners utilizing both sides of the bridge for exercise.

But you can still park at Mason Lake County Park where there is one boat dock and a small picnic area. The water here is more green since it is a shallow inlet but it is extremely clean, perfect for swimming or kayaking. You can kayak or SUP past the inlet but boats will be zooming past you. In any case it's a great spot for the summer, but there will be lots of boat traffic at loading and slow boats trying to get out of the inlet and into the lake

Scenic location in the woods with decent book selection with lots of computers. Compared to other libraries I think this place has a lot more to offer than its neighbors. Worth checking out!

The events they host are great and well-curated. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the venue itself is very clean.
