First let me say that this is based solely on Hockey Games. And with that being said, every experience has been a good one. They do a great job coordinating the music, the jumbo-tron and all of the theatrics. It's more entertaining than the game we just watched UMASS play at the mass mutual center! Being a UMass graduate I have spent a lot of time at the Mullin Center and I have to say that it is one of my favorite venues. This venue although smaller than other arenas is one of my favorite spaces because it is a great arena to watch sporting events and shows. We have not only seen some sports events here, but when we came for Cirque du Soleil we thoroughly enjoyed the show. The other great thing about the Mullin Center is that they has have a practice arena on the grounds that they open for public skate. We recently brought our niece to an open skate night and she loved it. In the end, we love this place and the parking here isn't terrible like other venues we have visited in the past. read more

Being A UMass Alum it's okay usually go to almost every UMass hockey game here but since all the incidents we've had they now have metal detectors like at the airport checkpoint for security other then that it's easy to get to via the routes 34 & 35 aka the PVTA UMass Campus Shuttle. Decent concessions too but for the new alcoholic beverages they now serve you must have I.D. Also be prepared to have to wait with the lines going in some are quicker then others so go to the fastest line and you'll get through in no time. read more

yup 5 stars a roo for the phine pholks at mullins yea, so as you might have guessed it, i was phishing on saturday. sure it was a long drive out and sure my mirror got smashed off in the toll booth to 91 (again) and all that, but the umass people know what you need to know when building an arena. many exits, many entrances, many bathrooms, phriendly will call box office people and combined together, there you go. i had seats behind page, section LL, which when i saw it online i though i would need my binoculars, not the case, great seats, easy staffing, low concession prices. the lot on the other hand, i saw you nighthawk police man in the crane, i have nothing to worry about but you up there with your night-vision, you cant catch the gingerbread man. read more

When I was a kid, I envied the passionate raucous atmosphere found at Southern college football games. Well I found it in Massachusetts, it just happens to be during hockey. The Mullins center is not pretty, but its practical, and only a fool would call it uncomfortable. The sightliness are good, and the seating is plentiful. Believe me when I say there isn't a bad seat in the house. But the best reason to come out and see a game at the Bill? The fans! The student section is as loud and passionate and consistently full. The elders on the other side are welcoming and love hockey more than you do, and thats a fact (unless you are a BC fan, whereas they will deservedly tell you to go fuck yourself which is fair because, as we all know, BC sucks) read more

The show was great, the venue was horrible. Went to the Trevor Noah show on 2019-04-12, a Friday night. They have a large parking lot, with 4 or 5 entrances, so how do they organize it? They close off the first entrances, and funnel everyone to one entrance on the furthest side through a small neighborhood down one lane of traffic and charge you $10 for the privilege. UMass Amherst has a department of Civil Engineering, maybe tap someone over there for a little help? Pros The staff was very accommodating, polite, and helpful. The facility was very clean. Security was quick, even with the long line getting in. Cons No one outside helping to organize the long line, not even ropes or gates. Prices at the concessions were ridiculous. $18 for 2 cans of beer. Could only find one bathroom per gender, on opposite sides. The line for the ladies room was long and slow. read more

Came here often for University concerts, sports games, and fairs. You should watch out for these events they hold very often. Some events I have attended below... Concerts I attended here: Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Trey Songs, Gym Class Heroes, Nas, Fabolous Games: Minutemen Basketball!! Loved watching Gary Forbes crush opponents. Career Fairs: ehh... I wasn't big on these stuff but they were cool. Food Fair: Awesome, free food from all different places around town!!! I'm sure there are alot more events throughout the year but these were some of the highlights I visited while I was there at the Zoo. read more

If you like ice skating, you should go to the Mullins Center now! One reason I like the Mullins Center is because you get to ice skate a lot. If you are invited to a birthday you get a party room, and you skate more. Another reason is when you have friends to ice skate with you, they might teach you how to spin. If you really want to spin you can ask your friends. It's next to the University of Amherst college. I don't know when to go but check online. You can rent ice skates if you don't have ice skates. read more

Came with a group of friends to see a concert here. Came excited, left with my night ruined. Staff on the upper floor took my ticket and put a wristband around my right wrist. Went downstairs to the floor, and the bouncer ripped the wristband off my wrist and told me to get lost. GET. LOST. All because, unbeknownst to me, staff was supposed to put a wristband around my left wrist. The food is bad, sight lines are bearable, but security is rude and stupid. Stay at home and watch paint dry instead -- at least you won't have to deal with some clod grabbing at your wrists. read more

Where there is a sport event or a concert, a venue is needed. This does not exempt the students at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst who want a night of fun. What better way for ZooMass students to go wild than to be released to the Mullins Center? For sporting events, students get free admission. Just flash your UCard and you're all set. For other events, you have to buy them online or go to the Mullins Center Box Office anytime after tickets go on sale. Surprisingly, buying tickets couldn't go smoother. To start out your wild night, you are approached with everyone's worst nightmare: parking. The Mullins Center, sadly, does not make this task easier. Parking is $5 (or meter parking for sport events) and is paid directly to someone wearing a neon yellow shirt. Unlike most places, these workers do not direct you to a parking spot. You are thrown into a lot with other cars circling trying to find the best spot. If need be, there is free parking available before you go through the gates, but you didn't hear it from me. UMass offers bus transportation too; but your best bet is to walk. When you approach the stadium, finding the right entrance can be difficult. Students always enter through the student section on the west side. All people who have tickets enter through the east wing. Floor admission enters down a staircase on the east side. Security guards will thoroughly search you; looking for flasks or alcohol. They are only doing their jobs; UMass does not want any lawsuits. The Mullins Center is a dry stadium so anyone who tries to destroy this reputation will not be allowed in. Students cannot have bags. Ticketholders, though, are permitted but are searched upon entering. Finally, once you get inside, you have to decide where to go. Merchandise is sold around the stadium at various booths. Some of the stands will have raffles that will try to eat up your wallet. If that does not get you, the food stands may with their overpriced, small-portioned, food selection. It may be better to eat before and/or after your evening. Baby Berk is always available, and if you're desperate, go to these stands. Your YCMP swipes may account for some of the UMass names there such as Pita Pit. There are brand names there such as Dippin' Dots and Nathan's Hotdogs. Believe me, you won't starve. Once you enter the arena, you will be surrounded by the roar of the crowd of the ZooMass animals that won't die down. Some dedicated partiers will sneak in flasks and you can bet a bunch of people are going to light up. Most of this action will occur on the dance floor, but this does not exclude the stands. There will be a lot of dancing and a lot of smiling faces. You cannot help but smile because the excitement is contagious. Seating depends on your preference. The floor area is for sweaty, drunk, and/or high animals who like to be a part of the show. The stands are not completely meant for sitting because once the show starts, everyone will be up and it may be hard to see. As for sporting events, center ice/half-court is always ideal, however, any place is good. The student section is quite an experience too. Whether you love or hate UMass Amherst, for those three periods or four quarters, you will be happy to be a Minuteman. Leaving the Mullins Center is not as chaotic as entering. Your symptoms will consist of euphoria and tiredness. The parking lot will be okay too since people leave at different times during the event. Otherwise, you can start walking back or catch a bus. The Mullins Center is everything you'd expect for a place that holds sporting events and concerts. Sporting events give a sense of the student life. Concerts, though, are still fun, but remember you are at a zoo university. No matter what the occasion, you will have a good time. Without the Mullins Center, there would be little ways to determine the student life. It is only a stadium, but it brings the UMass community together. read more

Remember back in the mid 90s when UMASS Basketball was actually GOOD? Yeah, me neither. Well, either way, back then the team was doing wicked awesome. And, as such, money started pouring into this skool. And what do they do with it? Did they improve the quality of classrooms? Fix those broken desks? Replace those teachers who pronounced their "V's" as "W's"??? NO! None of the above! They made THIS PLACE. And yeah it's a nice stadium - huge - well designed. Every seat is a good one. Too bad I didn't get a decent education here - but golly gosh I always had a decent seat for a game! And really, what's more impotant!? (spelling error included for wry humor). read more

Positively the best place to watch a hockey game. It gets five stars despite the relatively minor flaw of a lack of beer sales on premises. I absolutely love this place though, there's not a bad seat in the house. If you're a student and a real hockey fan though, get there early because the people near the glass know what's up whereas some of the people higher up are only bandwagoners. Still the nosebleeds are fun because they offer a great view of the whole ice surface. The concessions have a pretty good variety, you can get subway or even legal sea foods clam chowder and lobster bisque. I've never been to a concert here so I can only rate on the hockey experience which is amazing. Oh, and it's pretty sweet as a basketball arena as well. read more

UMass Mens basketball and hockey play here, as well as women's basketball. Also have occasional concerts and trade shows. A litlle bit over 9,000 seats. Went to see Kevin Hart on March 9, the show was great getting in and out of there was HORRIBLE. Even Kevin Hart made a bad comment about the one lane getting in there. I will never go to the Mullins Center again. There was 1 lane going in. Doors should have opened at six but did not open till 7. Long lines and 2 doors for everyone. I was staying at a hotel and had 2 packs of un-opened cigarettes in my purse, they took them and did not give them back. That is $20.00 that they robbed me of. The lines were too long at the concession stand and they made it worse giving out booze bracelets, took too much time. The staff was very distracting with their glow sticks. I ended up watching them too much. The arena was nice. We had good seats and could see everything. read more

When it comes to the athletic Events, I love the Mullins Center. When the quality is right (which 90% of the time it is) they ensure that. However, if you ever find yourself in need of customer service, you're better off talking to a brick wall. Having just come out of the 2019 spring concert where the main act, Lil Baby, has cancelled, it's shown the true colors of the Mullins Center in times of distress. That being the pure ignorance and lack of empathy with its customers they have there. After speaking with the box office manager about the poorly designed mobile website and how the fast pass is not properly advertised (it only allows early entrance, and is not a ticket, even though on the email it explicitly states that you need this ticket to gain entrance) he explains that he has dealt with 1000s of similar issues. One, if he's dealt with so many of these issues, why doesn't he understand that the mobile website needs work instead of pointing fingers at me, saying I wasn't careful enough buying my ticket. Afterwards, I ask about if I could get a refund after waiting an hour and half for Lil Baby to show up, he states that the show is going to happen, so no refund will be administered. Another hour of waiting goes by and here I am in the arena, being explained to, as well as the remaining 200 people (at best) in the arena that Lil Baby will not be showing up. It's just a mess inside the office and they need to figure out how to not be so close minded and relatable to their customers, providing reassurance, actual customer service, and take actual responsibility when they should. They said they will be administering full refunds to those at the Spring Concert, so hopefully I will get my refund on my misunderstood Fast Pass ticket as well, considering I wouldn't have gone in the first place if Lil Baby wouldn't have shown up. read more

This venue is always clean regardless of the event and the staff is always very helpful. After 4 years of attending hockey/basketball games, it seems as if the staff still cannot figure out when to play music over the speakers or when the band is supposed to play- this happens at least once per game!! Attendance is also pretty low on average. Tip: Try to buy tickets from the box office rather than online vendors to save a little bit of money. read more
