As Portlanders do it so well, a unique environment to this food truck corner. Yoshi's Sushi ~ telephone orders only. Surprisingly fresh & tasty on top of the Styrofoam plating. Tacos were topped with plenty of cilantro & onion. Tortillas warm & chewy. The only bummer is the beer cart is hit or miss open or never open is more like it. I figured with Mardi Gras coming up in a couple days, the Multnomah French Quarter might be planning something special over the weekend. Unfortunately, this food card pod/tiny indoor boutique mall was pretty much dead: half of the carts were closed, and all but one of the shops was shuttered as well. Disappointing, as I'd checked the operating hours of all of the businesses here before arriving, and they were all supposed to be open. I could see this place being a bustling, thriving little community/event space on a nice, warm summer day. Apparently a winter Saturday, even a dry one, isn't worth the time or effort to set up shop. Too bad. It's a great little space, both indoor and outdoor. read more

I'm not that in love with any of the businesses here except the food carts outside, but I do like when they have a bunch of pop up vendors for the first Friday or night market events. The space is really unique and it's a good concept, but the permanent businesses just are my thing. read more

One part food cart pod One part community gathering spot One part event space with a dash of shopping It seems like the early stages were forming last summer when Parson's Farms set up their farm stand on the corner. At that point, I believe the Lounge Lizard still occupied the indoor space with their eclectic mix of furnishings, but they've since closed up shop. Recently, I noticed that more food carts have arrived and now the indoor space is a mix of indoor seating for the carts and open space for community events. In a couple weeks they will be holding a Winter Bazaar with vendors and artists. At one time or another, I've shopped or purchased items from all of the carts. The Silva Cafe is the morning option with fresh baked goods and they close by 3:00p. In the evening, you can grab lunch or dinner at the Vietnamese/Thai/Laotian cart, Noy Viet Lao, or pick up some fish or related sauces and condiments to cook at home from The Flying Fish Co. cart. It is worth a visit here just to tour their cart (yes, you can walk inside). Just look for the Live Nude Fish sign. What has struck me most about the French Quarter is the sense of community. Every time I visit, I think I am the only one who hasn't walked here from their home in the close knit Multnomah Village community. So having indoor seating (not just a tarp covering picnic benches like other cart pods), but an actual building, makes this an ideal spot to visit with neighbors. While one section is a dedicated dining area, the main building appears to be more of a work in progress and because of the open space, this is where families tend to hang out so their kids have a little space to roam. I've truly enjoyed the incredibly friendly vendors and patrons. And, John's Marketplace, which has a great selection of drinks is just across the street. So you can probably swing by there and pick up something interesting to have with your meal. I'm told the next evolution of this space will be the addition of wood-fired pizza and beer spot inside the building. Some of the vendors also have permanent space on the outer portions of the building, but the middle section will be left open and then used for special events. I love visiting this area and am happy to be able to stroll down the hill from the main village to have this adjoining area with interesting food options. read more

Sorry, I don't get what is so great about the Multnomah Village French Quarter. Yes, there is nice indoor seating area, or "gathering place" other reviewers are raving about, but the day we went (a Wednesday), none of the shops were open and only one food truck was preparing food. The plant store looked interesting, as did the soap store but both were closed. There is no parking and the potholes in the road around the entire place are so deep, our vehicle bottomed out trying to get through. Definitely will not be going back. read more

Wonderful new center for food cart, shopping, and a beer/wine cart as well. I am newly introduced to the idea of this being a food cart location/pod. But much more than that. There are really nice options of: Tea, Local Farmers/Veg. stand, Mexican Food, Sandwich, Chicken, Great Sushi, and local shops (under roof) - limited hours. I have had a brilliant burrito and also great beers here. Please check it out. Worth the stop for anyone in your party. I just had another awesome lunch at the French Quarter today. Yoshi's just hits the spot. I love a good cart pod because I can pick what I'm wanting at the last minute, and the vibe at the French Quarter is one of my favorites because it's relaxed and because I can shop too. Most cart pods are food only so cool that there is shopping here too. I had to shout out the sushi, but I also like being able to duck in and browse on my lunch break too. read more

The owner, and the new busineses have done a complete overhaul of The French Quarter! Inside you will now find lovely little boutiques, including an exotic Plant store called Gurton's Plant Shop. The owner of this lovely little treasure, rents out spaces to various businesses, and food carts. Before this remodel took place, it was hard to tell(aside from the fantastic food carts)what The French Quarter was supposed to be. Not anymore! Its is very much a new place! I was told that they will soon have a little bar inside, which would go so well with the amazing food the carts provide. I could spend the entire day here. So many different little boutiques to browse. I love the fact that there is a farmers market providing fresh local produce every single day of the week! I purchased some Eggs, and Honey from "Parsons" which is the produce stand, and I honestly have to say that the both the Honey, and the Eggs are among the best I have ever had. No lies here. The People who manage the Produce stand have amazing customer service, and are very knowledgeable. I was also told that a couple of the food carts were ranked in the top 2, and 3 in all of Portland for their specific flavors. I am especially fond of the Vietnamese cart. It is the most fresh Pho I have ever had. The owner is the sweetest gal ever, and she will most definitely take care of your every wish and desire. I like to think of myself a Pho connoisseur', so needless to say, I am very picky about my Pho. The Bun' is also the best. There will be a French food cart joining the team coming soon as well! There is also an upholstery shop among several others worth checking out! You can tell that the owner takes a lot of pride in what he is trying to create here at the French Quarter. So awesome to see this place take shape, and come into its own! 5 stars ALL DAY LONG. Only thing missing is some live music on the weekends, and some fresh beers.(Which are soon to come) read more

Great place to hang out. It is a repro of a French street inside a building. I found homemade soap (My favorite soap), silver jewels (Reverie) and handmade Turkish plates (Harmony trade). There is a Viet Laotian (Noy Viet Lao) food cart that is super yummy and could eat inside the building. Also, a nice coffee cart (Silva Café). I found my fresh produce with Parsons farms and Flying Fish Co.Great place tfor shopping and hang out in Multnomah. read more

This is a really great neighborhood spot, between the food, drinks, local artisans, and family-friendly crowd. Magpie Metals has the cutest handmade jewelry, at amazing prices. The owner takes a lot of pride in making the French Quarter a hub for Multnomah Village. We're fans of the dog-friendly seating and food carts, including Bird in the Hand and sushi. Super bummed the Thai truck closed up shop, but overall we feel so lucky to have this space in our neighborhood. read more

I'm 5 staring this because the yellow truck has some super good Yellow Curry Chicken, the lady is really nice and there isn't much else here in The Ville. So they are winning this hood. But even with competition it would be hard to beat her. I'd recommend phoning in your order to avoid a wait. Go try the yellow truck. read more

Erik at Bird In Hand has amazing beers on tap to rival the exotics on tap across the street at legendary John's marketplace. The French Quarter is a Portland Gem hidden in Multnomah. With eclectic shops, delicious food and produce, comfortable seating, and a gallery, it's the perfect spot to stop with any group of friends or family members and socialize, eat, and do a bit of shopping. Also, I personally think it is a great place to shop for birthday/holiday gifts, because everything that they have is so unique and personal. Can't wait to see this place continue to grow! read more

OK, I hate to give this review because I had high hopes. I still do, and I hope the owner reads this and makes the right moves. French Quarter started out strong. Parsons farm was a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I live right around the corner, so it was nice to have a place to buy produce right nearby. Then the food carts started popping up, and that was nice. They are pretty good. Finally French Quarter had a soft opening, promised a pizza place, and it looked as if all was going to go the right way. However, that's where it stopped. The first signs were these blue plastic barrels cut in half with galvanized pipes stuck into them to serve as fencing. The result is a look better suited to a junk yard or perhaps temporary riot control. OK weird, then a strange covered wagon showed up, plopped in the middle. It now sits moldering in the rain out front. Not sure what this is meant to be ... the new End of the Oregon Trail? Pioneer woman's grave? Custer's last stand? Your guess. The whole place acquired a shabby DIY feel, chaotically organized amateur hour. Then the owner, apparently unaware that you need permits to do things in cities ran into trouble as he tried to open 5 businesses in the parking lot, plus another 5 inside. The city naturally threw a flag, and said "Where's the parking?" There is little to none. He could pave the street behind, add parking there, but nope, doesn't want to do that. He also didn't realize that you can't just take an old auto mechanic's shop and do whatever you want. The permit process is there to protect the neighborhood, and ultimately make sure everything is on the up-and-up. Further, he then circulates a petition to get the city to change its permit requirements. Okay, but on his own facebook page another petition exits to stop a development in the Village. The complaint? - you guess it, not enough parking. Can't have it both ways. Even Parsons farm seems to be slipping as I have been disappointed in the produce quality this summer. My advice to the owner: Do the right thing. Hire professionals - a designer, contractors, and an architect. Get the right permits. Clean it up and put in parking. Do this and people will come. Promise. It may cost now, but in the end you will reap the rewards. read more

Okay, I'm writing a review because I walked there one day with my dog and stopped for an excellent espresso and a vegan pudding thing with nuts in a dish that was very yummy. It's in the coffee cart in the French Quarter. I was so pooped after walking 4 miles that I didn't even go in the store, but its on my list now. I did buy some steak and ground beef from the fish wagon (nice woman) and the meat was amazing. Grain fed, locally sourced. I'll be back over and over again and with more cash. BTW, the fruit and veggies from the stand were so fresh. Yum, yum, yum, yum, and also YUM. read more
