I love this place. It's abandoned and worn down, but in it niches have blossomed. Vintage clothing, game stores, belladonna tournaments. Variety and fun for anyone a little weird. People are friendly, Ice rink is well cared for, prices are really good and unfortunately even better now as it will close for good this summer. Please go once before the curtains fall. It's so strange to wander the ghostly halls of this once bustling and vibrant shopping mall; one that I vividly remember from my childhood as being among the largest and most prestigious in the greater Portland area. Coming here, especially during the holidays, to shop, ice skate, grab some caramel corn or a bite to eat in the food court, goof around in an arcade, or watch a movie...these were simple things, but they, like so many mundane things, have the potential to turn into core memories of simpler, happier times. Seeing Lloyd Center gutted like this is...well, it's tough. Forgive me for waxing poetical about a capitalist monolith like a corporate shopping mall, but it sucks seeing it empty like this. Thankfully, during the holidays, a handful of pop-up markets have help to tamp down the echoes that normally resonate within its vast, silent interior, and the ever-bustling ice skating rink was, thankfully, more bustling that ever. It may be a band-aid on a flesh wound, but it was nice to see the place recapture a fragment of its former magic, even for just a moment. Outside of holidays and special events that are attempting, likely in vain, to keep this place afloat, I am not sure entirely what the future holds for Lloyd Center. I've heard it is slated to be torn down, and replaced with one of those walkable, compartmentalized, "20-minute neighborhoods", which *could* be a good thing...and in some places, the deconstruction has already begun (particularly on the exterior west end, where they are building some sort of entertainment venue). Either way, the message is clear: the end of an era is upon us. Sentimentality aside, this is still a great place, even if wandering its hollow halls brings with it an oppressive, unavoidable ennui. Probably worth it to pay it one more visit, in all of its empty, sovereign glory, before it's all gone, if Lloyd Center ever meant anything to you, as it did with me. read more

Updating my review from 2021: Our intention to come to Lloyd Center, was once again, to power walk with hubby. And I heard there's food truck outside the parking lot. Not there today! I was surprised to see so many cars parked, and it's not even Christmas, top level. I noticed there's an athletic section (that's why it's packed), we didn't care, we're here to have lunch now, power walk some other time. Even though the mall inside was almost empty, we saw two restaurants open, and DQ, but we're pressed for time, we needed to leave, we have a meeting to go to. It was relaxing! We enjoyed watching the few people taking classes, I felt I needed to join them, or bring our grandchildren to learn how to ice skate. I observed an older couple, putting on a show. I filmed them, because we're about their age, and I'm jealous how fit they are! Our few minutes' stay here, are nothing to complain about. My favorite kiosk of 10 years, is gone! read more

Went to Lloyd center on a Monday. No one was there. It's an amazing mall structurally, but sadly filled with unoccupied stores. Had a good time at Barnes & Noble. Would've eaten at the food court but nothing was open. Sat and watched the ice skating lessons from the 3rd floor instead. I stopped at the Lloyd Center a couple of times while in Portland, as I was staying at the DoubleTree down the block. If you're traveling here from out of state, this is a good spot to know is nearby. - Starbucks inside the Barnes and Noble at Lloyd Center - Clean public bathrooms - Some food court options - A bubble tea spot Also, if you're a fan of Olympic Ice Skating and/or the movie I, Tonya, the Lloyd Center is where Tonya Harding learned how to skate when she was a little girl. The ice rink is still in operation. You'll see parents with their toddlers skating around, which was cute to see. Like many malls, this one is struggling. There are many unoccupied units in the building. However, it appears there is an effort to 'reimagine' it as a community hub. There's still activity going on - for example, while I was there, the Portland Rose Society Annual Spring Rose Show (the largest and longest-running rose show in the nation) was being held there on the 2nd level... Hopefully these efforts to revitalize Lloyd Center are successful. read more

There are still a decent amount of good shops in here, even with a lot of the closures. The food court has a lot of good options that are fairly diverse. Parking is not the greatest and not the worst and you have multiple options for that. They do keep the skating ring pretty well and it seems to be thriving. I don't ice skate but it seems to be a good time. read more

Lloyd Center is undergoing a rebirth! Many small mom & pop shops, unique museums, and creative endeavors. Love the new vibe!

Independent businesses are moving into Llyod Center and are actually giving people what they want instead of the expensive brand stores that were there previously. Side note: Barnes and Nobles is still there! The mall still has the ice skating rink but there's also a hair supply shop, comic book store, a pinball arcade, soul food restaurant, lego shop, hobby gaming shop and so many more. Initially I thought the mall was closing down but it's thriving which is a great thing to witness. read more

First I have been born and raised in Portland and I grew up going to the Loyd center. But every time I go there all I see is a bunch of dead business and it makes me sad. There is nothing to eat witch makes it empty and the bathrooms aren't the best and really enybody can go in and its not the nicest part of town dose not make it that safe. If you are looking to shop, do not go to Lloyd Center! It is absolutely dead! There is a magic shop, a couple, novelty shops, and a couple footwear stores. But if you go to Lloyd Center... Make sure you hit up the cotton candy machine next to the ice skating rink! For only six dollars and some change you can select one of over 40 designs and an automatic machine will make it for you as you watch! Did I just walk into a stage preparing to film the next C-grade zombie flick or Independence Day 4? Maybe both? Sigh... talk about abandoned malls and the downhill spiral of what was once a staple of American leisure culture. Lloyd Center has seen better days it seems. My group came here in order to grab boba since it was the closest to our hotel, and it was quite sad. Most of the businesses have closed down (perhaps due to the pandemic?) and stores existing on two floors restrict your access to the bottom entry, making it very inconvenient. Some highlights though - the boba wasn't bad, there's a Barnes & Nobles still kicking, and the centerpiece of the mall seems to be the ice rink frequented by families on the weekends. Aside from that, this place would not be somewhere I'd call a hangout spot with friends by any means. Come if you need to, but you're better off spending time elsewhere and avoiding it altogether. read more

No No No No! Don't Phunk with my Mall! Ok, it's not MY mall but it's sad to see the Malls of America going downhill. So many malls failing, but Oh Lordy! This Mall Trouble so hard. I can see where this mall may have once been a good destination, but I got a feeling! There's just an uneasy, hold your wallet a little tighter and know your surroundings feeling.. The food court was mostly empty with plenty of closed stores, but an ice rink served as an oasis of activity and pleasantry in the otherwise dismal mall. I used the men's room and it turned out to be occupied but quite a few "locals" using it as home base to clean themselves up. My mask did absolutely nothing to stop fecal molecules from entering my olfactory system. Gross? Yep! That sentence is 1/1000th of the grossness of actually being in there. Next time I'm in Portland, I'm skipping this place for sure. Unless there's a major overhaul, revitalization, or a chance to swing the Wrecking Ball. read more

We came to this mall to check out the stores. This mall is huge. A long ways away to walk but one side of the mall was dead because a lot of the stores are shut down. The food court was the same. Only a few places to eat at the food court. Kind of a disadvantage but there's soda machines everywhere you walk. There a lot of old school stores such as Forever 21, Ross, and so much more. Plenty of parking in front and around but we took the tram here. Walking distance away from the mall. There's also a skating rink on the first floor. Pretty cool. I know that there's one in La Jolla but not sure if it's still there. I think the skating rink is fun for those who ice skate. I don't. There's even a claw city here which hubby got stuck at. The mall has a lot of closed stores but we mainly wanted to go to forever 21 or ross. When we entered through the parking lot, we saw some kids doing indoor archery which was cool. Not sure if it was a class but kids looked like they were having fun. As we walked through, nothing was open (probably out of business or closed). We reached forever 21 which is right next to the ice rink. It's nice and cool in the mall. Nobody was at the ice rink since the Zamboni was on the rink. The restroom is right near the ice rink, where the ross closed fence is. I am not sure where people entered for ross since we didn't have time to go. Forever 21 has two floors and we spent almost 1.5 hours here! Time flew by! The staff are all nice and there's plenty of clothes to check out. The staff helped call security when there was a woman being followed by a strange man, so let staff know if you need anything like that. They were super quick and responsive. The second floor of forever 21 had the entrance/exit blocked off so there's only one exit/entrance on the first floor. We didn't get to check out the second floor of this mall. I would have liked to see what else there was but we ran out of time. Time definitely flies by if you like shopping at places like forever 21, since you have to browse through two floors of clothes and also try clothes on. We probably would have stayed here for two hours lol, and even longer if we had time to go to ross lol. They had a lot of clothes on sale on the second floor! read more

Please take a review here with a grain of salt. This building is very significant to Portland and its surroundings. I have hope for it, but not as a traditional shopping mall. Right now things are ok and junior anchors of Ross Dress for Less and Barnes & Noble Booksellers remain. The third level has health clinics, community organization spaces, and a modest food court. What was once a grand selection of convenience lunches for shoppers, office workers, and college students is now down to 3 tenants - Dickey's BBQ, Dairy Queen Orange Julius and Chicken Connection (more like a Chinese place). First and second levels have more snacks (Cinnamon, Auntie Anne's) and newly relocated local businesses with unique offerings. read more

We googled mapped a Finish Line Store to look for sneakers and it led us to the Lloyd center. The entrance we entered had shattered glass on the door with tape all over it. Then we started to walk in deeper and majority of the stores are closed and spaces are vacant. It was airy, like a zombie apocalypse movie. The mall has three floors and after walking more we saw a huge ice skating rink that was quite busy. This mall seems abandoned and not in the best shape at all. This is the saddest looking mall I have been to in awhile. I know we are just coming out of a pandemic, but this practically abandoned. There are hardly any open stores and most of the spaces are empty. It might be a good place to get some mall walking in if you are looking for a place to do some steps, but definitely not a great place to take advantage of tax free shopping. I also find it annoying that the stores with entrances on 2 floors (Ross) only let you enter on one floor, I guess this is for security reasons, but it means you are having to go up and down the escalator multiple times. The one good thing is that parking is super easy. It's 3 stories with a bunch of offices and a food court on the top floor (the food court only has 1 or 2 places open). There's a super small ice skating rink on the 1st floor, this might be good for some people watching or as an addition to your mall walking, but I didn't stop long enough to figure out the price. I'm only writing this review in case others are also googling Portland malls and I want them to save themselves a trip. I was worried this was how all malls would be in the area since I went to this one first, but this is not the case. I would do your shopping elsewhere. read more

This mall was once my favorite mall to go to growing up. On a snow day, our family would come here to go ice skating, get McDonalds, shop or just browse around. There was even a pet store on the lower level so we'd always pay a visit to see the furry animals. Today though many shops are closed and all you hear or see about this mall is it's unsafe and its lost its charm. I like to reminisce the good times and hope things will change for the better. If they can't keep the stores open down the road I don't doubt the future will turn into a virtual shopping center, like Amazon. read more

Lloyd Center is a microcosm of Portland, a pale image of what it once was, crime & theft causing the anchor stores and many smaller shops to close their doors. The marketing hype and signage exclaiming Reimagining Community, but the mall is virtually empty with darkened out stores and hardly any people. It's a ghost mall. It's sad. It shouldn't be this way. City of Portland, wake-up. Seriously! It's time to take back our City and make it a safe and vibrant community. Not a poster exclaiming we are. Nordstrom's, Marshall's, Sears - gone. Macy's is holding on by a thread. Escalators haven't operated in over 6 months. You can no longer try on perfume or makeup without asking for assistance because the testers get stolen so they have to keep them behind the counter in a drawer. Sad. Sure hope they hang in there and the Reimagined Community becomes a reality. Ulta Beauty is one of the main draws now and typically has a decent amount of customers. Many complain that they have security guards that watch people closely. Good for them! If your not there to steal, who cares? They follow me around and I don't consider it profiling. They are doing their job. I'm not there to steal so I am grateful for their presence, for keeping customers and employees safe, and for allowing the store to ward off some theft and stay in business. Old Navy and Torrid are on the same end of the mall and seem to be holding up. The Spencer's is still there - who even shops there? Ross is trying to hold on as is Barnes & Noble. Forever 21 will soon be gone. On the vacant Nordstrom's end, H&M is doing their best to bring life to this area. Weirdly they remodeled the open air ice skating rink which had to cost quite a bit! It's not a crowd draw. What was the purpose? The mall is open and spacious, still has light from the glass dome above. Has potential, but will take way more than a marketing gimmick around Reimagine Community to resuscitate. The smaller local vendors they tried to attract can't survive in a mall with no foot traffic, no solid anchor stores that give people a reason to shop here, and the stigma that the mall is not safe. I lived in Hollywood for 19 years and always shopped here even though friends from the west side would tell me they wouldn't venture to Lloyd. I still go, but it's with a purpose. If I need something from Macy's, for example, I go in, get the item, leave. I'm going to Macy's or Ulta, and they just happen to be attached to a mall; I'm not going to the mall. read more

Visiting the Lloyd Center, it is HARD to imagine that it was ever actually someplace worth going. It is a HUGE mall (three floors), but it literally is about 90% empty. The anchor seems to be the "Carrington College" campus in one wing of the third floor. There are a few eateries open in the adjacent food court that seem to be there for the college denizens. Other than that, there's an ice skating rink on the bottom floor, the world's saddest arcade, a T-Mobile phone store, vast emptiness, at least one person sleeping on a bench, and the stench of urine and marijuana smoke in the parking garage (oh, and lots of vagrants in said parking garage, too). If you have a morbid curiosity of what a post-apocalyptic mall may look like, then visit Lloyd Center. Other than that, please don't waste your time. read more

Lloyd Center has had quite the stigma for many years, and I think they know that, so they've been hard at work to change their image. I'd say they've succeeded because I do like the new design. Before, this mall was plagued with a run-down look and lots of thefts. After the redesign, it looks much more contemporary and nicer to shop. Not sure about their theft problem, but I didn't seen any running mall cops, so I'll count that as a plus for now. Plenty of your typical stores, excluding some really high-end stores, and easy layout. It's an easy place to find what you're shopping for and leave. It has a nice sized 3 story parking lot and you can even take the MAX here as it drops you off right by the mall. Decent food court and good enough for anyone looking for a quick meal. I do miss the old American diner they had, wish it was still here. There are a few cool things here though; such as an indoor skating rink, resting areas where you can charge your phone, or playground for kids. Other than that, it's a mall. Can't expect too much, as if it were to be really nice, it'll probably be elsewhere than Portland. read more

Better than last year, when the entirety of the ice skating rink was sealed up, giving the mall a very dark, dilapidated and old feel, this new and improved setting is bright, white and looking more vibrant. The skating rink is small, but seems to be well-used, for photo shoots, skating practice, couples skates, and more. Music is playing throughout giving passerby something to bounce and sway to. It also seems that there are more store options on this visit and more going on in the mall altogether. Clean and airy, open and bright! read more

What the fuck is this place? This is the closest I've ever came to what it feels like to be in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. We utilized the free parking in order to catch a movie at the terribly outdated and overpriced Regal theater across the street. On our way back, we decided to check out what was happening (or not happening) at this run down mall. First thing I did when we entered was check the time. No way was it only 6:30pm! I felt like we weren't even supposed to be here. There wasn't a single other shopper in the SE entrance of the building. A couple of janitors were milling about so I thought maybe this place was closing up shop early during the holiday week. We walked passed a few seedy types wandering passed closed store after closed store. I mean, how long has Payless Shoes been outta business nationwide? Even stores that had products and appeared to be otherwise open, were temporarily shuttered. We finally came upon a skating rink that was brimming with people young and old, oblivious to the fact the wrecking ball is outside, waiting to tear this motherfucker down. This rink served as the only reason for anyone to visit this neglected mall. That and maybe shoot up in the bathroom... It's a one star place that needs to be torn down and replaced with something that people actually want to visit. I'm not even sure why I'm bothering to review it why they have a Yelp check-in offer. I give it an extra star for somehow avoiding being a bum druggie paradise. I'm not sure how they keep the graffiti off the mall walls and gates of the defunct businesses but it's actually fairly clean overall, I'll give it that much. read more

Really easy to get diarrhea, not easy to safely dispose of it. Lloyd center is dying, and it should. I took my family to this shopping ghetto for lunch and skating. We went to this skanky, ethnically ambiguous ass shack called Chicken Connection. Chicken Connection features hunks of microwaved bird meat, last weeks rice and urine yellow noodles. Order whatever flavor of bird you want, it all tastes like warmed up wash rag marinated in dumpster water. After successfully enduring a meal, you will be rewarded with diarrhea and vomiting. Good luck finding a bathroom. I was down by the ice rink when disaster struck. I checked out the men's bathroom. There was only one toilet and I could recall from memory every nuance of the girthy shit that was left behind even though I was fifteen feet away. And so I wandered. Twenty minutes later I found another bathroom on the first level. The first stall featured a door that allowed anyone to come and go freely, regardless of whether someone was using it or not. The second stall had a toilet seat where the underside was conveniently pre-shitted. Score. So as my bowels are screaming in agony, Chicken Connection "food" geysers out of my mouth and into a trash can included in the luxury disabled toilet stall. I notice that my vomit is showering down onto some used needless. Next to the trash can is a light smattering of poop I was lucky enough to step in. Thank you Loyd center for this lovely experience. I will miss you when you're gone. I can think of anywhere else I could eat pigeon, overpay for a hat and contact cholera. read more

Ok ok llyod center, you were always a real hole in the wall. Carpet and walls run down, horrible parking lots, the works. I refuse to come here other than the ice rink, for that i suffered through. The UPDATED Lloyd Center has really had a facelift! Now the area is slowly getting nicer amd so this will soon be up to par with the changing area. All new white flooring really lights up the place. Carpet gone and new walls and paint about. Rink lools great and some new cool stairways. Shops are the same and nothing new too much here. One of the larger malls in the Portland area. Strangely enough, this place seems a lot smaller than what I remembered as a kid. Parking is available in a lot on the N side of the mall. The mall is long and thin, and has a skating rink in the middle. The stores selection didn't seem that great. My friends and I left empty-handed. There was a bit of renovations going on when I was there, so hopefully the place looks less dingy. It still looked quite dated (1980s/1990s) when we went. read more

Unless you are here for ice skating, I'd say don't bother coming if you want to shop. This mall is pretty dead, with a lot of stores closed, empty, or for lease. It looks a bit run-down, and there isn't much here. I'm not sure if they are in the process of renovating or adding more, but I'd say until they do, you're better off going somewhere else! read more
