This place is so brand new, google and bing aren't even on to it yet! Trust me, I've tried. Wanted to put their address/phone number above. However, I was able to find a community based FB page where it notes people have talked about it and others "like" it. I was in the area visiting a nearby museum (Camondo) and spied this hipstery/trendy dim sum cafe. Turns out it's like one of THE places to go for folks to get their dim sum fix. My cousin and I were curious like a cat and wanted to give it a whirl. Interesting options, one being beef w/lemongrass in a shumai wrapper. Other items we chose were a sticky lotus leaf rice dish (which did not come in a lotus leaf, tho there was a long strip of it in the aluminum container), hargow (typical shrimp dumpling), shrimp w/spinach dumpling, chicken shitake ginger, and a 5 spice pork dumpling. Interesting concept, to have a small yet easy selection constantly being made for dine in/takeout lunchers. Cashier gave me wrong change, after I corrected him twice. Third time was the charm. They had some milk chocolate covered and dark chocolate covered almonds, he told us to please take more than one as consolation. They were quite tasty!
Overall the dumplings were kinda bland. Meat fillings were mostly chopped up, ex: U-25 shrimp in 1/4 pieces. Dimsum "skins" were fresh made, not packaged. 1 * for that! The beef w/lemongrass made me think of vietnamese deli food, so 1/2* for that.
I'm glad I asked for hot sauce and some soy sauce when the server asked us if there was anything else needed. I had to tell her that I didn't see any sauces but did spy the chopsticks and napkins. She apologized for her omission. Seriously, my cousin and I were the only asians in there and I think that may have stunned them. As my cousin and I are quite familiar w/dimsum (fam members do it for a living), we were happy to see one of the dimsum team members come up the stairs w/fresh steamers of new food items. She was Chinese and seemed mildly surprised to see us there too. Yes, I know we were in the 17th arrondissement and not in the 13th, were Chinatown is. Given how many seats were filled and the long line that started right after we got our food, I think this spot has a good chance of staying. Surrounding businesses were regular cafe/bistro/boulangeries. read more
