I keep going back for more!!. Excellent food. As the name says just like mum's. Every thing tastes as it should, not like in a restaurant. If you like Indian food, you haven't tasted the best till you try Manju's home made food. read more

Good Indian food! This restaurant is a longstanding…read moreMorningside institution and we used to go to the Friday and Saturday night buffets before Covid before we decided we didn't like the food. The buffets are finished now and that is a great thing because the food on the a-la-carte menu is really good. We ordered a Tandoori platter and a couple of vegetarian curries which were excellent and a cut above the average Indian curries which usually taste the same. We found pieces of cinnamon and cardomom pods in the sauce and the naan were actually cooked in the tandoor oven. The poppadoms and rice are complimentary too which we really appreciate after paying as much as $5 for a small serve of rice. BYO is a plus too! 29 April 2017 We've been a few times for the Friday and Saturday night buffet, which at $20 per head is really good value for money. The curries are too a bit too mild for our taste (more suited to the Australian palate) and we don't think that they are cooking the tandoori chicken and naan in the tandoor oven any more. We probably won't go back again!

The service is friendly and the wait staff are excellent with small details like keeping your water and wine glasses filled up. The restaurant is comfortable and is elegantly decked out in red and yellow. It makes for a lively eating environment. They've got most of your classic Indian dishes here. The great part is that if you want something that's not on the menu, if they've got the right ingredients, they're happy to make it for you (at least this has been my experience). The Bhoona Beef ($15.90) and the Chicken Jalfrezi ($16.50) are highly recommended. Just to let you know, there is also Goat Curry ($18.50) which is divine, if you like caprine flesh. Wynnum Road has a few places that make for good eating, but in my humble estimation Scherhazade's guarantees you the best bang for your buck.

We finally tried the crab curry at Mamak Tandoori House and it was terrific - the flavours were sensational! It was incredibly messy to eat - but fun! The fried okra was delicious too! May 14, 2017 Outstanding!! Sensational!! As lovers of spicy Indian and Malaysian food, we came here expecting to be disappointed. We ordered a Mysore Masala Dosa (basically a traditional Masala Dosa smeared with a extra chilli tomato paste) and a Lamb Roti Murtabak which came with a bowl of fragrant lamb & chicken coconut curry. The food was sensational!! The flavours were authentic and everything tasted like it had been freshly made from scratch (instead of the usual commercial curry paste/sauces). The dosa and the murtabak was as good as or probably even better than anything we've eaten in India or Malaysia!! We'll definitely be back to try some things! Be warned though - with food this good, this small restaurant is very popular. You really need to make a booking and be prepared to wait!!

The food was very good and although it is a little more pricey than your average Indian restaurant, you don't pay extra for the basmati rice - and we didn't get charged a corkage fee for bringing our own wine. The food came out very quickly so I don't think that they cook it from scratch like they used to.

Santoshi House carries a decent range of Indian groceries; there are legumes, seeds, spices, pappadams and those delicious chutney blends that make fantastic accompaniments to curries. If I can buy goat meat from the butchers, I'll come here to pick up a curry paste and some additional spices. I'm salivating thinking of a spicy goat curry with pappadams, mango chutney and fresh rotis. That's about the limit on my Indian cuisine repertoire. There are lots of ingredients at Santoshi that I wouldn't have a clue how to use. The staff are pretty friendly though so I'm sure they would help me if I asked. They also sell excellent value lunch meals - curry and rice for $6.90. This specialty Indian grocery shop is a great addition to Cannon Central Shopping Centre.

The interior of the restaurant is too brightly lit for my liking, but is usually busy and the atmosphere is good. Prices are fairly standard, with specials and seafood dishes up around the $17 mark.
